Oh yeah, I grow many types of peppers in my days lol what kind of peppers are you growing? So when it comes down to squash zucchini and cucumber plants I fertilize every 2 weeks..( also add some kind of calcium ,I recommend garden lime or whatever source of calcium you want to use) with big plants like pumpkin, you could fertilize every week.. Don't have any video on that yet.. right now I saw about 3 squash fine borers 😨 working on a video
You explain everything so well! My squash is coming up and getting blossoms and until I started watching you I knew nothing about sucker leaves or male and female flowers and I just put in lemon cucumbers so I’m watching every video I can of yours. Ty for sharing your knowledge with us who are just learning. 👍
FYI. You can let the suckers grow for a very short while. They will put a fruit quickly on the sucker, then you can pinch the growing tip off of the sucker giving you a fruit on each sucker without it vining. This will help keep bushiness in check and retard the upward growth as plant energy is directed to fruit instead of the apical stem.
Awesome! I just finished pruning my potted zucchini by following your video. Now I need to tend to my cucumbers and so glad I found this video on your channel as well. New subscriber here!

Your welcome.. So cucumbers grow best in the 70°.. takes about 50-60 days to harvest.. but with Pruning it would be about 50 days.. Pruning speeds up the growing
Your welcome 🌱🙏🏾 You can make pickles and store it in a mason jar .. I normally wrap some with plastic and leave it in the fridge and it lasts about 2 weeks.. . Most of the time I give it away... I normally don't leave back with much
Lol thank you so much .. So I normally tie a knot from the top and let it come all the way to the bottom and then wrap it around the plant.. double your string if you need to . ua-cam.com/users/shortsIGQ_r6aBMxQ?feature=share
This is great, thank you. When you start letting the suckers grow, do you attach the sucker vines to the same string that the main vine is on or put up another string for each sucker?
Sometimes I do attach the same suckers to the same string or sometimes I let them run on to the other string and they run upward on the wood , the top of my wooden trellis
I haven’t been able to harvest any cucumbers, squash or zucchini.. I think it’s time for me to give up and just shop at the farmers market. I am going to try pruning my plants this evening and will check back in with. Thanks for the tips!
Thank you so much for these amazing and informative video! I love to go into profitable cucumber farming business. Having read and watched some videos I am still wondering how profitable this can be, hence this question: Assuming I have a specie of seed that matures/ ready for harvest within 70 days on 1 acre of land, how many bags am I likely to harvest after the first 70 days ?
So one plant could give you about 10 to 15 cucumbers .. 1 acre a lot of room so it all depends how much plants you plant. You could get tons of cucumbers.. 🌱🙏🏾
I have asian or south east asian cucumbers, they are football size cucumbers, do you think the main stem will be able to handle to cumcumbers if i use a trellis system to grow vertical?
This is my husband's first year growing a garden, and our cucumber plants are almost 6ft. tall, and we just don't know if we are supposed to let them keep growing or prune the top off. I feel silly asking such a basic question, but any advice would be very appreciated😊
So cucumber plants grow up to 6-7 ft tall , do not cut off the top , your plants almost finished growing, now the side shoots which call suckers will be growing giving you more production to harvest... Only prune lower leaves at the bottom
I use home compost , used coffee grounds, and organic garden lime to increase calcium.. You could use fertilizer like blood meal or organic tone those are some good stuff
Yes you could always cut off the top , but the side shoots will still grow which you need for the plant to be Alive and give you more cucumber production.. cut the top when reach 6ft
It could be plants are getting too much water - Just as too little water can result in cucumbers turning yellow.. another one could be that it did not get pollinated...water every 2-3 days .. if hot do every 2 days ..
So the tomato cage is about three to four feet high , cucumber plants grows about 6 to 7 ft.. I have tried this before and still try it but it gets over crowded .. I would just use a stake 6 ft or 7 ft
I am trying two tomato cages...turning the top o e upside down on the other and twist tying together to make an obelisk style tower. The three straight wires on the too get tied together in a point. So far so good. Use a stake to steady your cage tower.
If you're buying seedlings you could do zucchini , squash , pumpkin, peppers , tomatoes , cucumbers , watermelon.... I would highly recommend doing pruning as the plant grows to speed up the growing process.. are you thinking seeds or seedlings?
I have seeds but thinking it's too late. I for the first time planted the eight ball zucchini but they are moving slow. Or I'm not patient. I've been taking off the male flowers but I haven't seen any females yet. I've been trying the pruning method bur I'm a novice.
Sorry to hear that, but definitely a little bit more patience sometimes lol.. A light pruning remove some of the male and increase the fertilizer and the rest is just time it will grow and once it's once it's start to produce it will produce a lot
Hi, I lov your channel and subscribed 2 months again, lov how you explain everything so well👍...Question...I grow everything in 5 gallon buckets n totes So is it good to plant my beans in the same totes with my cucumbers? Thanks for any advice you can give me, I appreciate it n again lov your channel 😊🫘🥒🥒✌️💜
Thank you so much 🙏🏾🌱 so a cucumber Plant and a bean plant might be a bit crowdy in the container ( 5 GALLON) If you don't have a choice and you don't have more room or space, I still just pruning some lower leaves off from the cucumber plants and the bean..
@@Greentgarden Thanks so much for your very fast response 👍 I appreciate it very much! ( I forgot to say my totes are 12-14 gallons each, oops! 🤭 ) now would that make any difference? Plus also prune the bottoms as you said to do, again Thank You for Your Time 🫘🥒🥒✌️💜
So prune off a couple of Lower leaves, Add some fertilizer and make sure to water enough.. You could always sprinkle some used coffee ground to increase in nitrogen too.. This will make the plant healthy and speed of the growing process which will bring in female flowers
Mix cayenne pepper with soap in a spray bottle and spray on your leaves in the evening time. Do not spray this when the sun is hot.. Also, as soon as you see the caterpillar manually, remove them and toss them far away from your garden..
Do some light pruning and remove some of the lower suckers that are growing from the bottom.. but if they are producing well just add a 6-7ft stake and guide them upward
Has anyone ever had their cucumber plant look more like a bush? Two out of six of mine are like that…plus they’re really small. They’re flowering fine, but all the flowers are at ground level and the plants aren’t getting any taller. I did start those two earlier than the rest, could that be the cause?
I know the Cocktail Cucumbers are Mini Cucumbers typically grow to be 4-6 inches long , the plants grow small too .. maybe that's what you have there .. they produce very fast
Ohhh, they looks so good!!! I wish I were only growing cucumbers-I liked the ones I’ve already harvested so much!! I’m simultaneously keeping some with pruning and some without (they are living in borrowed space in my neighbor’s bed and he is anti-prune). So, it is an experiment! Surprisingly, the un-pruned are producing more and staying green (leafs) better, but I think something happened at my place, and the sample set of 2 plants is too small to be conclusive in any way. Still, it is interesting! I’m thinking to make a nice string trellis like yours and pack a lot of cukes in next year! 🤤

You should definitely try to grow them on a trellis either use a strong string or double the string.. use a 7-ft stake
What do I do with the cucumber fruit that did not pollinate well? They look shriveled up and dead, do I cut them off?
Yes, remove any bad fruit or bad leaves..
How much soil per plant per make shift pot. I see you constructed your soil bed..
So that's the regular dirt underneath And I did add the pot mix soil and compost about 6 to 8 in high up...
How do you combat cucumber beetles & other pests?
I use Neem oil .. sometimes I mix cayenne pepper powder with water and spray too. Both of them work well
