Another great set of 4 inch cold steel uncle! Man it’s amazing how vast this category is for cold steel 🤙🏼

Yes, I didn't even realize it until I dugout all of my 4" Lock-Blade Folders from Cold Steel, that I have Collected over the past years. Cold Steel is responsible for producing a whole lot of great 4" Lock-Blade Folders over the years. And, my Collection only has some of them.
There is a whole lot more I never purchased. They made a lot of Liner-Lock Folders, too. And, many of those came from the very high-end Custom Shop. And, are very expensive and highly Collectable and highly desired by High-End Knife Collectors. Most of those were made a lot like the High-End and Fancy Espada's. A few even had Tri-Ad Locks.
I didn't get into them, though. I was more interested in the lighter weight models made with the grippy G-10 Scales. The one's that I felt made better SDUEDC Folders. But, yes, Cold Steel is responsible for a very large part of this Industry. They were around for about 20 to 30 years before Andrew Demko and Tri-Ad Lock Folders came about. That's when I got into them. It was when Andrew became their Primary Knife Designer. To me, he and Lynn C. Thompson are responsible for the best one's, in my mind, that they ever made, the Tri-Ad Folders. Right on, Nephew! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

The first Black Talon is one I wish Cold Steel would bring back, because there’s so much room for improvement on the original model, while still keeping the aesthetics. They could bring back the bolsters and the opening hole, but get rid of the shoddy titanium liner lock (they weren’t finished properly and would wear away after a few months of regular use), and replace it with either a thick steel one, or even better, a Tri-Ad Lock. I have 2 of the originals, and I love them purely because I’m a horror movie fan (a modified Black Talon was the knife used by the villain in My Soul to Take), and because they have some historical value to them. Besides that, though, the Black Talon II is superior in every way. Really wish they’d do a Black Talon III that brings back some of the visual elements that made the original so appealing, but I won’t hold my breath

Totally agree. The first one's were like the Fancy Espada's. They used to call them Custom Shop Folders. They were the Top of the Line Cold Steel Folders. Often meant for Collecting.
Yes, it would be awesome if they made High-End, Custom Shop Folders, again. Using their present line of Folders. I absolutely agree with you. Right on! Not many know about them. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

To me, it's my personal #1 to carry when I want to carry a Heavy-Duty Folder. Even more so than the 4-Max. Why? It's super tough and doesn't weigh me down when I carry it in my front right pocket; I absolutely luv the SR1 Series of Andrew Demko/Lynn C. Thompson/Cold Steel Tri-Ad Folders. They absolutely "ROCK!!!" I think they've been very underrated for many years. Personally, I think they're definitely one of Cold Steel's all-time best Folders that they ever produced.
The 4-Max and AD10 get all of the applause and praise. And, tend to overshadow the SR1 Series... Don't get me wrong, I absolutely luv those, too. But, for me the Super Heavy-Duty 4-Max Series is too heavy for me to want to SDUEDC in my front right pocket; I carry them in my Bugout and Work Maxpedition Backpacks.
And, the AD10 Series is smaller than the SR1. And, it weighs about the same and it's Blade Styles aren't as strong and durable as the SR1, especially, the SR1 Tanto. So, to me, it's not as heavy-duty as the SR1 Tantos, that I like. That's why the SR1 Tanto is my personal favorite Heavy-Duty Folder to carry on my person. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

I went and checked it out: www.dlttrading.com/demko-ad20-5-3v-slotted-tanto-black-g-10 I must say, that is a very good looking American Tanto Blade. I hope the Demko's make this same style of Tanto Blade, without the Slot, for my personal favorite, the AD20S. :-) I like... :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
