It must have been amazing (I am from France so I didn't get the chance to see it, but I can still remember the one from 1999). And despite all the technicals issues your video turned out really great, it felt really genuine.

This video just makes you more human than you realize. You work and prep and then something happens, even if you don't expect it, and you still take it for what it's worth. It's a beautiful video and I loved it more than any other you have posted. Thank you for reminding us that to be human is to work with what we can.

While the video shoot didn't go as planned, the music was still awesome, and I think the overarching message is an important one: no matter how much you plan, sometimes things just don't go the way you hope they will, but that doesn't mean that they aren't beautiful and good in and of themselves.

A higher up at my school had us stay inside saying it would blind us permanently if we went outside and even saw the eclipse for less than a second. So we were locked inside during a ONCE in a lifetime experience, all windows closed, sad. (Last year, Europe)

Still salty... she said it was inevitable that someone would take their glasses off and therefore had to all be inside.

Last year in Europe was only a partial eclipse though. Still sad they wouldn't let you out. We went class per class at our school. And when I was in highschool, or maybe it was the last year of primary school, we had the full eclipse, which everyone went crazy for too.

Sorry to see everything fell apart just as totality was about to hit. Good news is the Second Great American Eclipse is only 7 years from now on April 8th, 2024. I was waiting 11 years for this eclipse, ever since I was 5 I begged my parents to arrange something so we could travel into the path of totality. I managed to get my father to drag me down to Hopkinsville and we were just a mile away from the point of greatest totality. Perfect weather, and as soon as totality hit I just broke down into tears and sobbed like a complete nerd. Such a beautiful sigh that I'll never forget. Thanks for doing a cover of this dude, it's absolutely incredible!

I am so glad that you can take these mishaps and turn it into something positive. I play in an orchestra, and *constantly* music will fall off a stand, or someone will start too early. I think it's not about the mistakes you make, it's more about how you treat the mistakes. Great job to you and your crew! :)

  • @ayjanu

I can sympathize with you guys, though my eclipse incident was minor by comparison. I ended up slightly bumping my telescope tube less than one minute to totality, filming the eclipse, and spent close to two minutes in a panic, trying to find it. I did stop for a moment and observe totality, but went back to trying to find it, and finally captured it about 10 to 15 seconds before totality's end...then put the filter back on after pointing the tube toward the trees. It took me three months to get my new telescope ready...not bad for a budget scope, though. (I also managed to, mid-totality, capture a few nearly-full frames, which I am currently working on restoring, as a composite image. Also, I'm not trying to sound ungrateful for what I got; just showing you guys that, hey, you're not alone.) That was a great cover, dude - one of the best covers I've ever heard, in my opinion. You've earned a new subscriber. Good job.

Okay, I've watched both now and commented in v.2 first. I give the edge to this version (#1) because I liked all the explanations about what was going on, and it told the whole story a little better than #2. It's always fun to see how you make your videos, so all that behind-the--scenes stuff was great. And the song itself was terrific (as always) even with the interruptions. All in all, #1 had a little more continuity and was a really fun telling of the eclipse story which you (and we) will all remember for the rest of our lives! Great job, despite all the things that went wrong!

You do realize that there is an Eclipse every 18 months people? The last one stateside was only ca. 7 years ago, you just have to go find them. This one was only special because it spanned the entire US from coast to coast, that only happens every 99 years or so. Eclipses are cool and you do get you revved up, so no criticism meant, it is just that people seem to think they are really rare and they are not, just most happen over ocean or underpopulated areas. That said, I still like your version of the song and the video itself. I am glad you did turn to see it, shame to miss it.

This video is so very special and awesome, Peter.
I went outside at the times specified for my state, and from where my home is situated in Arkansas there was no eclipse visible, at any time but there were some very interesting fluctuations in color saturation in my area among other things. So to be able to see the eclipse happening during your performance was the best eclipse-related experience for me, sir.
May God bless you and your sweet family in every way, and give you great success in all of your ventures.

    Lyrics
(Tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tu)
    (Turn around)
    Every now and then
I get a little bit lonely
    And you're never coming round
    (Turn around)
    Every now and then
I get a little bit tired
Of listening to the sound of my tears
    (Turn around)
    Every now and then
I get a little bit nervous
That the best of all the years have gone by
    (Turn around)
Every now and then I get a little bit terrified
And then I see the look in your eyes
    (Turn around, bright eyes)
Every now and then I fall apart
    (Turn around, bright eyes)
    Every now and then
    I fall apart
    (Turn around)
    Every now and then
I get a little bit restless
And I dream of something wild
    (Turn around)
    Every now and then
I get a little bit helpless
And I'm lying like a child in your arms
    (Turn around)
    Every now and then
I get a little bit angry
And I know I've got to get out and cry
    (Turn around)
    Every now and then
I get a little bit terrified
But then I see the look in your eyes
    (Turn around, bright eyes)
    Every now and then
    I fall apart
    Turn around, bright eyes
    Every now and then
    I fall apart
And I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you only hold me tight
    We'll be holding on forever
And we'll only be making it right
    'Cause we'll never be wrong
Together we can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time (all of the time)
I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark
We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
    I really need you tonight
    Forever, forever's gonna start tonight
    (Forever's gonna start tonight)
Once upon a time I was falling in love
But now I'm only falling apart
    There's nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart
    (There's nothing I can do
    Tonight I only need you)
Once upon a time there was light in my life
But now there's only love in the dark
    Nothing I can say
A total eclipse of the heart
(Tu tu tu tu tu ta ta ta ta ta)
    (Turn around, bright eyes)
Every now and then I fall apart
    (Turn around, bright eyes)
Every now and then I fall apart
Every now and then I fall apart
And I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you only hold me tight
    We'll be holding on forever
And we'll only be making it right
    'Cause we'll never be wrong
Together we can take it to the end of the line
Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time (all of the time)
I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark
We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks
    I really need you tonight
    Forever, forever's gonna start tonight
Once upon a time I was falling in love
But now I'm only falling apart
    There's nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart

So here's something to ponder Peter.......this is gonna happen again in the US on April 8, 2024, right here in good ole NE Ohio. Why not make plans for a video shoot here and at various locations around the Akron/Cleveland area and invite about a few hundred of your loyal followers to join the festivities and be in the video.....I'll supply the coffee and donuts. LMK what you think about that.....Great vid by the way, thanks so much for sharing your talent with the world. How's that little baby of your's doing. Hope to hear from you soon. Big Al in Akron.

The chance that something will go horribly wrong in the production of a music video is inversely proportional to the ease of reshooting the video. So don't worry too much-this could have gone much worse if you wouldn't have another shot in several years!

I live in Missouri and so I was able to take my brother out of school and down to the area of totality to see it first hand! We were extremely blessed that we were far enough east that the rain held off til right after the eclipse finished. There are no words to express how breathtaking the experience truly was! I can't wait for 2024 so my daughter can experience it.
Thank you so much for capturing this beautiful natural phenomenon while recording! Even with the complications, you and you team did an absolute amazing job and definitely have something spectacular to show for it!
