  • We convert Traxxas Slash to Monster Slash Ram 4x4. We are using the Proline Badlands tires with the Proline Body mount extension and painting the Proline Dodge Ram body with Plasti Dip.

    I never thought about just using Plastic Dip as the paint, what a good idea. Can't wait to see this truck in action.

    I put a Jconcepts Ford Atlas body on my Slash 4 x 4. It is a very large body and just begs for oversized tires. I put a set of Pro-line 2.8 Super Swampers on it and ...wow.

    Whats your feeling on the larger tires after running it awhile? Has it caused any drivetrain issues/ Have you found a good pinion, spur gear combo?

      Definitely upgrade the driveshafts to metal, I have the Tekno M6 driveshafts, I haven's messed with the gears yet but would recommend changing.

    Awesome man! Quick recommendation tho. You might want to gear down a tooth or two on the pinion to compasate for the bigger wheels so you don't burn out your motor. Otherwise sick!

      Thank you for the tip man, usually I do change the gearing but I want to see how will the electronics last if i just do light bash and no speed runs. Otherwise I would definitely change the gearing

      How did it turn out? I did this with the 4x4 rustler wheels and had it out for 2min and think I smoked the clutch. At least hope it was the clutch and not the motor

    Nice truck just did monster slash to already cracked the body. Think I need a taller rear bumper to help with hits. I'me looking around. Just got some nice results out of liquid wrench chain and cable lube with anti sling penetrant used it on bearings wow car faster. Washed it off after a few uses water beads off metal bearing . Happy bashing in new year nice vid. Yes it was proline but not there fault I drive rc trucks like I stole it. It was like 18 rolls on cement after a big jump never knew a slash could go 40 feet while rolling 😂

    So this monster conversion is literally just big tires and extended body mounts? No suspension work?

      You can mess with the shock oil or get different shocks, this was just a simple conversion

      Hey whats up man, im using the adobe premiere. I used it for awhile so kinda stuck with it but there is Free editing software's out there. I used Davinci Resolve for a little.

      I left it the way it is, its better to change the pinion gear. But with light bashing I had no issues, except clutch kept slipping

    Cool video, if you need to change the pinion & spur gear , what do you recommend ? I'd be only general bashing , no jumps .

      Stock gearing is 13/54 so I would probably go with 11/54

      @@FivoNine I did the conversion a couple of years ago. I went with a 9t pinion and stock 54t spur. Last year I had the motor magnet come apart. I rebuilt the motor and had the same thing happen again. Thinking the center diff might allow the motor to over-speed since on 3s I'm getting front end lift. Hope this hasn't happened to you.

      Late response here but I’ve seen people use templates and you score around the template with an x-acto knife and break or tear along the score line.

    Did you just go over the windows with black without covering up the white parts? That didn't mess up with the white parts?

      Yes i just went over the white parts, plastidip is pretty thick so with plenty white, the black color does not go through.

    Looks incredible. I’m going to buy a slash and do this right now with a different body. Maybe the Ford raptor. How’s the body mounts holding up? I’ve heard they are not that strong.

      So far holding up good.😁 You might want to upgrade the driveshafts, mine snapped first day running with bigger tires

    My buddy gave me his monster slash he built over 9 years ago.
    The tire rubb hard on the A-arms, and it’s turning radius is like 30 feet. What wheels do i need to correct this?

      Not really sure how to fix that, I've seen guys use a Dremel to cut the spokes inside the rim for some clearance if that's what's rubbing. The tires I have on seem to be good.

      If your doing high speed runs or always going to be on full throttle i would definitely change the pinion gear so you dont burn out anything. I usually bash here and there so i will keep the way it is for now 😁

    Do you need to buy new hex adapters with the tires or can you use the ones off that came with the slash

      Wheels are pretty universal so as long as you see that good ol “12mm” hex stamp then it will fit 1 to 1 and you will re-use the hex adapters.

      Nice thing about plasti dip you can peel it off and repaint different colors 😊 I haven't bashed it yet but a buddy plasti dipped his truck and still holding up, so hoping it will hold😊

      @@modex20 No its not, sorry I should of mentioned it right away😀 ... the stock gave out on the second run with regular tires, I got the Power HD Servo LW-20MG and its been good so far

      I actually did the same set up never had full suspension travel. I had to chop the whole body so pissed, but looks real good though.
