That little car is worth 500$ now!! It literally saved your $500+ slash 4x4! The slash is the absolute most durable truck ever built!!
Yeah it’s a pretty durable truck overall!
The recovery vehicle is the star of the show 😁. Appreciated your time for this vid. I’m sure after this vid you will be taking the car apart , regrade or replaced all the bearings. Thanks for Sharing. Much appreciated 😀
The Ruko definitely came in handy….I did take it all apart to clean it and lubricate everything
6:00 "ima rescure it with this" i laughed so hard just to eventually understand that you were not joking 🤣
Lol 😂
U need a constant speed of atleast 35mph or faster... and a smooth transition. Too much bounce is taking you below the needed speed to stay hydroplaning
Yeah the bounce on the entry is killing my momentum
The Paddle Tires are facing the wrong way. If you watch Traxxas’s video on how to hydroplane, they say face the wheels the opposite ways so that the paddles push the water down and away, instead of digging into it.
You’d have to give me a link to that video….I couldn’t find any “how to hydroplane” video from Traxxas
Yeah I'd like to see that video. Not so sure that's true 🤔 I'd definitely have to see it to believe it lol

You win the award for best troll done on an rc channel!
I think the recovery vehicle worked better upside-down tbh. Good effort, even though it didn't really go to plan at all!
@@williamstrachan Thanks! I can say the recovery vehicle definitely came in clutch!
if that slash was mine i would jump in the water to get it quicker incase it sank, but you were smart thinking but it also took longer good thing you got it before dark.
Yeah I got it out…that’s all that matters in the end 👍😉
Dude i love the water tests, i'm sure you'll get more views on this video, i don't think I've seen anyone else hydroplaning a slash with paddle tires
Appreciate it bro! I had fun making the video too!
@@RCKnockout I had anxiety the whole last retrieval XD so i can only imagine how you felt, try it with whatever rc cars ya got! Maybe get yourself a better drop to the water
@@XxlargemanxX yeah I felt the same way lol 😂
Helpful tip from my quadcopter flying days: Carry a painter’s pole with you.
Thanks for the tip!
That’s awesome man, a cheap boat would be a nice recovery vehicle
I thought about that but I think a boat would end up going over it
You want as little bounce on entry as possible. You want as much wheel speed as possible. Lastly, you want the widest paddles you can get for as much engagement with the water as possible.
Thanks for the tip!
I would change over to the Traxxas tires and learn how to hydroplane on a puddle before trying to cross a pond with the slash. Also you should secure the flotation foam better so it doesn't shoot out the side if the truck tips in the water
Those are all good points
Nice job Nolan it looked like you had fun and smart using a recovery vehicle work pretty good for you
Thanks! The recovery vehicle definitely came in handy……and I finally got a successful hydroplane there at the end
Can't wait for part II!
I’m glad you recovered it!
Thanks! Me too!
Idk man, I think that when you went the last time and Slash died half way, at that point, dirty water or not, I would have walked in and got it. As for the recovery truck, that thing did amazing. You pushed it to its limit doing things it's not meant too. I applaud the recovery truck. Also for being ill prepared Slash did make it accross and that was great to see. Keep up the good work.
I’m glad you liked it! I’m definitely gonna be doing it again sometime
Which is the better option? Gtr shocks with plastic caps, or ultra shocks with the metal caps? … thank you. 🤩
@@craiglloyd8123 GTR shocks are definitely a better overall quality shock compared with the Ultra shocks…I’d say performance goes to the GTR shocks too
Thank fully it finally worked!
Agreed
You are a brave man. Glad you got it out.
Thanks! Me too.
Awesome Nolan. That’s great stuff right there. UA-cam star in the making!
Appreciate it bro!
Cool calm water for a rc boat like the proboat zelus 36 dual motor system
Never heard of that boat……is it fast?
@@RCKnockout very fast look it up do u have an rc boat yet
@@10krms54 no I don’t own a boat
Lol I do this all the time. Fishing line on freespool.
That’s definitely a good idea for next time 👍😉
Yes the max !!! Great video and recovery
Thanks! I hope to try this with the Maxx one day
The tires are under the body on a slashthe water has nowhere to go. Try without the body
That is a fair point….but the only thing holding the styrofoam in place is the body….also all the videos I’ve seen online the body is on when they are doing the hydroplane
man that is sooooooo cool!!!!!!! definitely good you brought the recovery vehicle!! its kinda scary watching it from behind cuz you can only see the water splashing up but you made it!!! good job! also super glad you recovered them both at the end!
Thanks bro! Glad you liked it! I’m also glad I was able to recover both of them in the end 👍😉
Oh man this is awsome!!! G r eat video. I want to do this with mine using the monster 2.8 pro line paddles.
Thanks man! Yeah I think it might work better with 2.8 paddles
That was FING AWESOME MAN keep up the good work your video/ amphibious rc freaking rocked Hell yeah 🤟✌️💪😎😜🤬🤐☠️😈
Appreciate it! Glad you liked it!
gotta get to swimming!
Lol 😂
A slight modifications to the front bumper would help, the xmax has a much larger chassis a plate covering the bottom would definitely assist in keeping the front end up, as soon as the water fills the body you have a drag net. Interesting and cool experiment, gotta confess I’m not going to be attempting this.
Yeah it’s definitely risky….I think the plate would probably get in the way though…..all the videos I’ve seen online….the Slash’s were all stock aside from paddles and floatation devices
Nice try bro. Ya definitely gotta get a good run up to keep your momentum going. I'd love to see the Maxx have a go.
Keep it up 👍🏻✌🏻
Thanks bro! I got one good hydroplane in….I definitely wanna try this with the Maxx sometime too
Why is the power cutting? That seems to be the problem
That’s definitely part of the problem…..I’m not sure why?
Hydroplane with the maxx would be sweet
Agreed! Definitely wanna do that at some point
“Oh hope the receiver didn’t get wet” 💀
LIKE BRO EHY U SUBMERGING IT
The receiver box has a rubber seal and I used waterproof grease around the lid of the box so I was hopeful it wouldn’t get in lol
Awesome recovery! So frickin cool.
Thanks!
bring a fishing rod next time so you don’t have to wait for cars to drift to shore lol
That’s a good idea lol
LOL, very entertaining video. Love the recovery vehicle.
Glad you enjoyed it
Can you use it with a Traxxas Maxx slash 6s it will work🎉
Yeah I’m sure the Maxx Slash would be capable of hydroplaning with the proper Paddle Tires fitted
Best Video yet!
Thanks!
It's not just paddled you need you need to have an amphibious bottom boat design so it has resistance to bounce off the waves and weights so that it can float smoothly with the paddles will move it was momentum and force the truck and torque so get it right when I get back
Loving the T-shirt
Thanks!
I applaude the effort
Appreciate it!
Maybe you can tie a piece of string to the bumper so you can just pull it back in quicker in case it stops on the next attempt
That might not be a bad idea….it would have to be very thin string though…..otherwise it might hinder the machine in the water
This is the worst planed rc adventure ever, but kind of love it
I’m glad you enjoyed it! I feel like I had a decent game plan before I started…I came prepared with styrofoam so it will float and a recovery rig, which obviously I needed lol
amazing video!
Thanks!
I think a smooth transition from land to water works best when trying to hydroplane
That’s true…but there isn’t a nice beach entrance at this pond….a different pond might work better though
@@RCKnockout I wouldn’t know I’ve never tried this, my rustler is 2wd. Just throwing in my 2cents is all 🤣 but great vid man I enjoyed it
@@ammoniawilder4451 glad you liked it! Appreciate the feedback 👍😉
Awesome video! borrow a canoe or a raft or grapple hook next time lol
Thanks! Yeah I should have borrowed a canoe or kayak lol
You can’t jump it into the water. I have the best luck driving off the bank straight onto the water. Well it works for my Xmaxx
It’s much more difficult…..I’ve done it before with my Xmaxx off that same dock…..that’s why I started there…..I think the tires are just too small on the slash though…..the bounce into the water just kills all the momentum
Haha ... The little toy truck to the rescue!! 🤣🤣🤣 Better get a RC Boat before you try the Maxx.
Yeah the toy came to the rescue lol…..I’m pretty sure a boat will go over it though
Well that was fun for us lol 😁
Glad you liked it!
that was such a cool video but one of the most stressful videos ive seen
Glad you liked it! It was somewhat stressful in person too lol
@@RCKnockout hey im lookin at buying a slash 4x4 vxl i just wanna know what you think about it
@@pleco47 it’s an excellent truck! Pretty durable too!
thanks i love when youtubers actually respond to their viewers🤗🤗@@RCKnockout btw i subscribed
@@pleco47 no problem….appreciate it bro! 👍😉
You need a good rod n reel with a big treble hook on it or a recovery boat
Yeah that might be a better idea next time lol
Put the Styrofoam inside front and rear bumper, you got more than enough space and should help keep the nose and rear floating
Thanks for the idea!
Total fail but that is the cleanest I have ever seen any of your bashers! Glad it didn't fry anything. Edit. I then saw the rest and you did make it. Cool.
That’s true it’s clean now lol
take the v1 maxx the vxl4s in the v2 has not the power to do it
You don’t think so?
@@RCKnockout yes trust me I have tryid it both😅
@@maltesrc good to know
2,4 reiciver dosen´t work under water because the signal gets to weak
The receiver wasn’t under the water I don’t think….I can definitely tell you the antenna wasn’t under the water
Ditch the stock body 🙏 stampede truck body closer to chassis
The Stampede body would look kinda goofy on a Slash….but maybe it would work
Next time use a dam fishing pole tied to it n open the bail of the reel when you try to go across then You can just reel it in
It’s just water. Strip down and go get it…lol. Don’t film it tho 😂
Or bring a boat with you…even a blow up type
Styrofoam will water log. Probably what happened as to why the slash looked like it was sinking.
That’s true…the water was gross though lol 😂
Hey... For your channel i think shorts are the way to grow these days
Thanks for the tip! I do a few here and there
@@RCKnockout thunderrc started and his following doubled as I watched it happen...
@@DrJT-ly3vr It’s definitely something I’m starting to do more of….I have a few shorts coming….one from this video actually
I’m not gonna lie, this is the worst thing you can do to your RC Car🤣 It don’t matter how big the RC Car is, it’s still going to be stuck and if you run it in inpure water (dirty) water, corrosion will start to affect your RC Car considering it is $500 💀
I’m not super worried about it…parts are replaceable…I tore it most of the way down and cleaned the bearings so it still works perfectly fine
Awesome video
Thanks!
How the slash is still working if the water is reaching the electronics and everyting? Is because is a slash 4x4? Vxl?
I have a 2wd slash and i just pass it for little puddles and it almost stop working
All the electronics are waterproof….you’re usually good unless water gets into the receiver box
@@RCKnockout But the waterñroof electronis are just in the 4x4?
@@Pepijuanjo no I’m pretty sure all Traxxas models are considered waterproof
@@RCKnockout then i dont understand why mine is so sensitive to water, but thank you! 😊
@@Pepijuanjo hard to know….maybe it’s getting into your receiver box
do the maxx!!!!
I’m definitely thinking about it
Good attempt man, got balls ill give you that, a lot of money to drowned if it go,s wrong...
Thanks bro! It’s definitely risky
Or you could do 17mm hexs on the slash then you could run xmaxx tires just have to run a different body.....
There's no way the Slash would handle xmaxx tires. Maybe 2.8's but not xmaxx tires
Yeah Xmaxx tires are way too big for a slash…..also an Xmaxx has 24mm hexes not 17mm…..about the biggest I could run on a Slash would be a 2.8 paddle
@@RCKnockout ohh cool your brave sending it on water
@@thomasdowneyjr.4162 yeah it definitely is risky
I litteraly just searched for exactly this video
Good timing to release this video then lol
Yes maxx should work way better . Was hella funny cause you were stressed out . Cause I could have been worse it could hav been mine .
That’s true it coulda been yours lol
With body off it might work better. Keep the wheels open
You might be right about that
You had the tires on backwards
A 4S car maybe. Maxx body to heavy. Maybe swap electronics into a 6S plastic chassis car
It is 4s and it does have a plastic chassis though
Dab of glue over the hole
Yeah that probably isn’t a bad idea
Tie some fishing line to it
That’s a good idea…thanks man!
Hydroplane a Monster Slash
That would probably work better
They are directional
It's too small tires are too small not enough power you do it with a truckie
This has plenty of power…bigger tires might help though
wow! rc truck not boat. they sell boats.
esc hobbywing error
Or tie some good fishing line on it then just pull it back in
That’s a good idea!
@@RCKnockout could use that method on recovery vehicle as well. Still awesome seeing that done as well. Would be like emergency tow lol. Love the videos. Waiting for some more ordered parts for my stampede to be delivered. Giving it a big refresh with new diffs the differential upgrade over the slipper. Changing out some blue for red to mix it up. May get some proline wheel sets just got new talon set though.
@@shadowviper957 that might be an even better idea hooking it to the recovery vehicle 🤔
Best of luck with your rebuild!
@RC Knockout finished up last night!
I haven't looked back at your videos so sorry if you have mentioned, but have you tried the proline screw mounts? Been thinking of getting them and a new body with a set of trenchers although still happy with my talons as well the chevron do awesome in wet grass.
@@shadowviper957 nice! No I haven’t tried those out before…never even heard of them lol
2.8"s
That might work better…thanks for the recommendation!
Paddle tires are facing the wrong way
You think they mount backwards?
thats 835 dollar truck not a boat.
It's not made for water that's why they make rc boats duh
anyway i subsciibed long ago. just get a boat.
😂
This was most ridiculous video somethings you just don’t do.
Well I did it so…..
You should have had a net and fishing pole for a back up or a buddy with a rubber raft. Was the receiver under water? That may have been why you were losing your connectivity
@@pedellbills130 fishing pole would have been a good idea….it doesn’t appear that the receiver went under water
I think if you get way more speed from the ground into the water you will have way more success watch V2VIDS he did it last year for a 2 mile streatch over the Pacific Ocean his video can help
Appreciate the help! I’ll have to check it out 👍😉
