      Don't be a dick is my main advice. Not trying to assume anything about you but having done both Jet skiing and Kayaking, I can assure you that jet skiers are the most hated folks on the water. Obey rules to keep you and others safe, dont be the guy going like 40 knots under a bridge effectively pinning my kayak against pillars and endangering me with anyone else who may come behind him doing the same. I've also been fishing on that same bridge and was where i was supposed to be and had a jet skiier snag into the line and they flew off and even tried to yell at me over it. Until I pointed out that they were flying through, the wrong side, "Look at this rail, it's shorter than the one in the middle for a reason dude!"
      He then proceeds to have insult after insult hurled at him by the other angry fisherman. I actually got them to chill cause I said "He's just mad that not only is he wrong, but he got merked for it, let him cry today so he can toughen up a bit from this guys". We shared a laugh, made sure he gets back on and isn't hurt and go on with our days.
      Like I said, you're probably not that person, I hope so anyway lol. All I'm advising is general respect for rules and safety(knowing them is key) so that everyone can be having their own fun.

    After 10 years of riding jet skis, I would highlight these three rules as the most important ones:
    Rule no 1 ALWAYS wear a life jacket when getting on the jet ski.
    Rule no 1 ALWAYS have a key attached to your jacket before you start the engine.
    Rule no 3 EVERY TIME before making a sharp turn ALWAYS look around especially behind you (cause someone might be there).

    Also when you beach your ski before taking off again shake the rear end up and down to make sure any debris falls out the intake The waves can cause sand and rocks to go in it. Especially if you drag it on shore. Also, beware of snakes. When I beached my ski and went to take off it was cavitating not going anywhere When I reached under into the intake I pulled out a huge water moccasin snake that attacked me and I was able to fling it away. From then on I would flip my jetski on the side to look inside if it ever cavitates again. lol.

    My son and I fell off our jetski while headed upstream on the Missouri river. I had my kill switch tethered to me but the jet ski still went a good 25 yards or more before it stopped. This was a pretty windy day so even though my Killswitch worked my son and I couldn't get back to the jet ski no matter how hard we swam because the wind was pushing the jet ski upstream while the current was taking us down stream and the jet ski just kept getting farther away. We had to flag down a boat to take us back to the ski!

    Be aware that kiteboarders can only go crosswind or downwind. Kite lines are generally 25 meters, and a jet ski within 100 meters (cross or downwind) is a potential collision. If you find a kiteboard out there, it will often have a name and contact info somewhere on it. Or if you see the person floating pretty far downwind (more than 50 meters downwind of their board), they'd be happy to get the board back. But only approach from upwind; don't get downwind or crosswind of them due to lines or risk of wind catching the kite. Also once the board is near them, probably best to move more upwind unless they are in a panic and asking for other assistance.

    I have been jet skiing for years. I always tell newbies the story about steering with no power. Do NOT EVER “pretend” to head at anything and turn at the last second because you will instinctively take power off, attempt to turn and you will hit that thing. Next, always LOOK, THEN turn. Last, I used to have the kill switch on my wrist, but accident pointed to something and killed the engine. Now it is always attached to my vest.

    I dont get it with the kill switch. The rescue runner used here around we set the clip to the handlebars, so it dont cut the engine if rider is of the jet. Reson for this is when engine running but no stearing input it starts to circle. If engine dies and wind carries the jetski away you are not going to catch it swimming...

    • @JetTechProducts
      @JetTechProducts  Рік тому

      Each to their own on how they like to set up their skis, however we find it much more safer to clip the safety lanyard to the rider as per manufacture's safety guide too.

    • @900stx7
      @900stx7 9 місяців тому

      Older skis were set up to circle if you fall off.
      The newer ones will just keep moving straight ahead.
      If you fall off at speed, by the time you get your bearings the ski is hard to catch with the engine running.
      I've fallen off a ski at speed wearing a lanyard, when I caught my breath the ski was only a few feet away with the engine off.

    • @kenshinhimura9387
      @kenshinhimura9387 Рік тому +1

      Lol you do realize one way valves only work with enough pressure to force them closed. Water will easily get past the valve at low pressure aka sitting in the water.

    • @VladOnEarth
      @VladOnEarth Рік тому

      @Kenshin Himura it wont, its a ball valve. I checked already actually and tested. But you are partically right, at a VERY low flow it may very slowly enter, which doesnt contribute to anything as it gets evacuated by passive bilge system right away in that amount. And I would never leave it open sitting in the water. My application is I ride it in the ocean, load it on a trailer, come home and leave it on a trailer. In a dock situation you definitely need to plug that hole, it makes sense

I know slowing down slows the turn but even at idle my ski turns just fine so I'm wondering if the low fuel cut the engine for a sec. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Ofcourse after I hit the pillar everything worked just fine and I went straight to ramp and loaded it up.

    No 1. Don't put it in the water. Period. Noise nuisance.
    No 2. If you have to..... only 5knots up to 200m from coast .
    No 3 speed limit buoys are NOT your personal chicane. People live on the coast. You doing wheel spins off my garden makes me wish I had a gun .
    No4 see 1.
    Peace and love.

      Hahaha well i guess it all depends who's buying one, if its the un educated guy buying the 300HP ski with no on water experience, then too right. If its guys using for tow in surfing or fishing and needs something to fit in the garage, cost under 20k and can tow with a Subaru wagon, well there ain't many better choices.
