Beginners should choose a guitar for plating the style of music they want to play. If you can't play the music you want to play one your guitar, you will lose interest or not devote the time to practice to progress. Once you progress there is always time to get another one to increase your scope of playing.
I think this is true to an extent, but what I've noticed from teaching over the years is that most people prefer to be able to play anything WELL, instead of hacking their way through their favorite song for 6 months with it never really sounding good. So when it comes to starting with acoustic or electric, I think the right choice is which one is going to make you start sounding GOOD the quickest. It seems like most of my students find it more enjoyable to learn their favorite songs after they've gotten through the grind of getting their fingers to cooperate.
I've always found this question a bit weird. They are two fairly different instruments that are played quite differently. The answer to "should you buy an acoustic or electric?" has the same answer as "do you wanna learn acoustic or electric?"
True, but I think those differences only matter after you can actually play the instrument. They become stylistically different later on, but regardless of whether a beginner wants to learn to play an acoustic "style" or an electric "style", the first year or two of learning is going to be pretty much identical. So the question is really "which instrument is going to make you less frustrated and keep you wanting to practice for a few years until you get the hang of it?"
I get that a lot.. lol back when I used to tour in a band I met a middle eastern dude at a bar in Idaho who even asked if I was from his home town in Iran. (thanks tho!)
If you wanna be a singer/songwriter and like stuff like Ed Sheeran, get an acoustic. If you wanna be playing guitar in a band and play solos, get electric.

You can bring your amp if it’s usb charge and it’s charged that’s what I do with mine, thankfully I was a small amp that packs a punch
That's true! I guess it's definitely possible to bring some power around with you these days. Good point!

I started with cheap 40 euro 3/4 classical guitar on ebay. Nylon strings are great for beginners I think.
I agree! My first acoustic was a hand-me-down classical guitar and the nylon strings are much softer and less buzzy in the beginning.
