Take of the back seat cover and check the head rest circuit board. Mine had the same problem loose soldering joints. Re-solder the joints ,most Mercedes electrical problems are bad corroded wire inside the sheathing and bad side of joints.
Actually, this one is in immaculate shape compared to other Mercedes vehicles i had seen that are scraping the ground, wrecked, and everything is broken

very nice car i own one but many faults for exmaple the transmission had alot of problems aswell as the brakes they would overheat and make a scraping noice, but in confortableness s500 wins it ad speed aswell
I bought a pair of front seats from this car for 100Euro, welded them onto the office chair base, and now me and my dad have computer chairs of highest quality. Highly recommend!
This is why I’ll take my W220 S500 over any more recent model. The engineering was solid and it feels sturdy and expensive. Those new shits are flimsy and creaky. Just a bunch of touch screens and plastic

This is not high spec, it lacks like half of button and extra features. Almost any feature which you show is in standard configuration. Most 2000 euro w220 mercedes have more features

This particual model is manufactured in 2006.
2006 model year was the last year. They offered the S 350 that year in North America I remember.
