I’m not sure if I have a male and a female, I have two carp angle fish in a 55 gal tank by themselves. Their whole life is a repeated process. First the joust for a week or two, then start cleaning their desired egg laying area for a week or two. Then it appears they both lay eggs at the same time. I can’t tell if one is laying eggs and one is fertilizing or what! They both have the tube on their underside. One is bigger than the other but the bigger one seems to be laying the eggs. I picked them because out of a very large group they were buddies, that was clear. Is it possible I have two females? And is it possible they both lay eggs at the same time? They guard the eggs for about a week then eat them. Again their alone in a 55 gallon tank. I had two other gold type fish in there but they both died after about 4 months and I’m not sure why. One just died and then a couple weeks later the other one got dropsy, blew up like a ballon. I went and got the medicine and it started to help but then it died. Any ideas about my Angles? Thank you.
I have 3 angelfish in the fight do you think maybe they are all males they even beat up Maya cosmis or how long do I have to wait to to find out if you have a male in that Bunch or not but I guess actually I don't know when they're breeding season is can you help me
Question. I have an adult tricolor angelfish in a 55g denison barb tank with praecox rainbows. It mated with one of my blue zebra angelfish. Do you think the eggs are viable? Both of them are protecting the eggs and occasionally eating one, but there's a ton left. I left the light on last night because I heard if you don't they'll eat the eggs. I'm wondering if they're viable and what colors I'll get. The tricolor only has a small patch of gold on its head. The blue zebras, which are much smaller/younger are gorgeous. I wasn't prepared for this and being a community tank with a hillstream loach, golden zebra loach, lots of different types of corys and platys. I didn't think fry were possible at all. It's exciting but I'll have to give any surviving fry to my lfs.
Thank you so much for this, I am having problem with my angels. My tiger is picking on the marble. I don't know what to do as the marble cowers in corner of tank
I had 2 angelfish together since they were you g and now they're 5 years old. They laid eggs recently but ate them all. There are no other fish in the tank with them. The female just died and I'm wondering can I buy a couple more females t try to mate with the make still?
Hi thanks for the video! You said when they pair up.. I have 2 (I think adult?) angel fish and they definitely are a duo. I can’t see any nubs on either and it’s hard to tell by the dorsal fins if they are male or female...do they tend to pair off if they are mates/a couple?lol
Ok so just got two small angelfish, one quarter sized and one slightly bigger. Does this mean that they may end up needing to eventually be separated if they are not m/f? They are in a 30g community tank.
thanks for the info. I had to do some research because one of my 2 angelfish has become too aggressive and chases the other around the tank alot. The other can give back too but is not that aggressive. When I first checked into whether I should get 2 the info said they do better in pairs, but it looks like I'll have to rehome one of them.
Awesome vid man. I remem the first one on this. I actually recently got 4 angels from a friend. They are all about the same size. I was wondering when do they start to form pairs? Not sure if they are adults yet. But I have noticed 1 of them seems to be rather active and fairly agressive, posibly a male? Actually removed it and put it aside for a while as he was bullying the others.
Alrighty, thanks man. Will give it a shot. But with my bad luck even if I had a hundred I would probably still end up with all females or something lol.
Thank you so much for this. I've been trying to figure out if my angelfish is a Male or female because I don't want fry, but I want to get my angel a friend to hang out with. I believe it's a he, but he is so lonely in my 38 gallon tank. I don't like to over crowd my tanks, and he was my first one to keep, so I wasn't 100% how big he would get. I do have 1 guppy in there with him. My guppy is a Male and tries to fight my angel, but my angel is so sweet and just ignores him. (I do plan to get more guppies but put them all in a smaller tank.) I am planning to get a 55 gallon tank soon, so my Angel's can have fun and my place is getting big, can't wait for him to get 2 feet long. :D I'm getting a pool then for him. But I want my Angel's to be the biggest in my 55 gallon because I know they are slower and more relaxed fish, I plan to had some faster moving fish in the 55 gallon with them, and then change my 38 gallon into a simple saltwater tank. (I got a lot of plans.)
