    I love your honesty. It’s super cool to hear you lay out all the beans on the financial aspect of the fish business. For me the reward is like you mentioned in the intro. Do what you love for a living, and you’ll never “work” a day in your life. And you sir are making that happen! So I think we can all agree you came out above water over all!😅❤🇺🇸

    Good to know! I feel like the market can get flooded quickly with a fish that breeds as often as they do and has hundreds of eggs at a time.

    I just came across this video and everything you’ve said is so true and as i angelfish breeder myself I can relate to your experience on so many levels. For anyone who trying to get into breeding angels, I’d say breed only the “exotic” strains like Red cap albinos, bulgarian seal points or tuxedos etc or if you don’t have them available around you then you’ll probably have to breed the common strains like zebra, marble or platinums and you’ll have to produce a lot of them to make something out of them as they are worth less money.
    Pro advise do not inbreed angels

    I know this comment is late, but I just discovered your channel and have been super impressed!
    From a business perspective, I am curious how you come up with the cost of your equipment per project. From an accounting perspective, first you would figure out the depreciation rate (which is normally 5-10 years for a lot of things, but I'm sure whatever the Australian equivalent to the IRS has an exact number for fishery equipment). Then you could figure out how much your equipment depreciates a month and divide that by the percent of your equipment you used for each project. I'm only saying this because I would only use the full cost if you only used the equipment this one time, and then it was unusable. Since I'm assuming you're going to reuse your equipment, I think the viability of these projects should be a little bit higher than you estimated since they aren't actually taking up the entire cost of your tanks, filters, and such. Unless you never use the cost of equipment again in future projects, then makes all of your future that much more profitable, because there would be virtually zero equipment cost. You just want to make sure you don't calculate the cost multiple times.

    It is a good lesson learned. To reaserch the competition and if you are going to supply locally you need a product that is diffrent and desirable.
    A project I would like to start is Java moss. Because not a single local place sells it and most American suppliers do a hybrid or mixed clump of moss and then sell misleading small amounts for exuberant prices.
    If I can do a cost effective and space saving grow method and supply a pure strain for fair price for quantity and quality it will be profitable.
    I just need pure Java moss to start and a quantity of it. I just can't find a supply.

  • @andystokes8702
    @andystokes8702 3 роки тому +15

    I've never understood why angels attract such a high price. Yes, they are impressive but realistically they are one of the easiest fish to breed and it's easy to get perhaps 200 viable fry per spawn. You can get a spawn every 10-14 days. Given sufficient grow out space you can easily produce 20 fish a day just from a single pair. They should be as cheap as chips.

    • @ArtyMars
      @ArtyMars 3 роки тому +1

      It’s selectively breeding them that’s difficult, not allowing dodgy fish to spawn, the time spent sorting them etc

    • @tranthong8765
      @tranthong8765 3 роки тому

      Well. They’re expensive because people could breed them easily. The seller need to make sure that people would not make the price of the fishes fall down easily by selling with the cheap price

    • @andystokes8702
      @andystokes8702 3 роки тому

      @@tranthong8765 Not quite sure I follow this. If the price of Angels shot up to 50 dollars everybody who has them would be breeding them. The market would very quickly become flooded, supply outstripping demand and the price would drop to the point you'd struggle to give them away.

    • @tranthong8765

      I am not working with angelfish, but guppies. It have the same issue, when you sell the new breed to people, they would sell with the cheaper price after breeding for sure. It happened to the albino full red guppies. The price should be around 20$ for one guppy, now it’s price drop to 3-5$ a guppies.
