Can't whack a Nova. I had a 1989 black 1.2 Diamond, in 1995 & a 1984 light blue 1.2 saloon in 1998. I put Astra GTE alloys and clear indicators on the saloon. I think a tweed trilby should be positioned in the absolute middle of tthe parcel shelf of any self respecting Ken Barlow edition using an engineers square!.Top shedding!
I learned to drive in a Nova, a Ken Barlow special edition Nova. I liked the bulgy arches of the 3 door but then the Clio came along and I preferred the bulgy arches on that. Mackerel again tonight, with potato salad and beetroot. But not tinned, oh no. Smoked. With a bit of whole grain mustard mixed into some sour cream.
The guy i worked with back when i left school had a sporty model. May have been a GTE or a SRI. Loved the look of it. But i was mincing around in an orange Allegro due to my obsession with BL.
We had a 2 door saloon with a 1.0 engine and a radio cassette and a heater, it would understeer like a supermarket trolley, was ugly and slow, but it was better than the bus! 👍
I almost bought a Breeze Blue 1.4 SRi many years ago but as my parents were helping to pay for a car, I ended up with a mk2 Fiesta 1.1 in Rosso Red. I loved that wee car.
I had a Nova courtesy car for a while, when my Volvo 740 was murdered by a drunk driver, I agree with most of what you said, but I was impressed by the mileage (50+mpg on a run), I recommended a Nova to my son, and he bought ... a TR7 moneypit!! :-D
Nice little car, thanks! I drove a few of these when they were a bit more common on the used market; they were sweet, responsive and thoroughly pleasant cars, just as you say. GM had a winner with this one. FWIW I think the 3-door was a bit more attractive, but both look nicely balanced to my eye.
I had a mk2 cavalier Antibes 1.6 auto. Loved it. My favourite mk2 after owning 5 of them from 1.3 to 1.8. I put a brand new twin choke Webber on the 1.3 and it was quicker than the 1.6’s. Great era for Vauxhall.
ok, let's put aside nostalgy or irritation with over-assisted modernity....every era has its design language and simple lines have their quality, too....that said, there are decent looking cars today and I don't think we should be superficial and wait 20 years to conclude 'there were decent looking cars'....some cars are too complicated looking today, that's also true.... this corsa/nova seems very solid inside for what it was. you should give a bit more info about directness and quickness of the steering rack....I mean it's non-assisted, can't do much with it, but every old car doesn't steer the same.
let me be really serious for a moment....I am taller and younger than you and I know what's the issue with back pains....you really have no excuse, you must lose something like thirty pounds in order to reduce your ischialgia and other issues.

Great condition Nova rare beast now in 2022

Mackerel and potato? That makes me want to explore the kitchen

I think I would prefer the Allegro

The 1.5 turbo d used to be some laugh when you wound the fuel screw up
Yeah? 😅

Brilliant as always. Compulsive viewing Paul.
😊
Smashing little car. Old is gold 🤗
I have a 84 corsa TR 2 door,only a 1.0 but put a smile on my face when I drive it….reliable little motor since I bought it
Great fun 🙂
Lovely 🌹. I've got LOADS of the American Chevy Novas here. They were made from 1962 till 1979. And I have 'almost: every model year. 😊
😅
I had a blue 3 door back in the day. Think it was a Merritt if I remember rightly.. I do enjoy your review's 👍😀
Thank you 😊
When I was 10/11 years old this was all the car I ever wanted haha a 1.6 GTE

Turn the hazard warning switch upside down!
This is nice! Like this better than the three door.
Now Sold !

I honestly think it's a bit too small for five doors.
Very nice but I hated the seat adjustment that tilted as you slid back or forward. Plus offset steering.
But so nice to see a minter.
I didn't look that far into it
I just wrote that comment just before you mentioned it looks like the Mazda 323.
That is an immaculate example. Prefer the 3 door myself. . Still a nice motor though.
Nova! (commence backwards cap wearing and rave music)
Passed my test in a Nova 1.0 Trip, wanted a 1.2 Antibes for my first car, but I was dreaming, way out of my league.

Wondering where the Luxe model fits in the trim level range. Assuming its only 1 or 2 levels above a base model.
I THINK it's the next one up from base model (the Merit?)....but not 100% certain.
I always thought the face lifted Novas were quite good looking cars. Th y do look quite Japanese at some angles, especially the rear quarter.
The '80s didn't really have styling
Great car’s. Iv had about 20🤣
As common as dog poo in a council estate 😆 that car is mint, nice colour. Suit you sir.
One of my favourite lines, especially with the beep 😄
Hi ya mate 👍👍
I think that's A Fab Car ..Future investment for someone
Fab Review Dr Mustard
1991/92 model year.
Looks like the old Mazda 323.
That's what I think 😁

I like being this size though.
@@ProjectNigel no, you don't, you like eating crap like most of us, but you don't like the pain for sure :)
