I really have to thank you, this is a jump i've struggled with forever now, but this video motivated me a lot a few months ago, and today i finally landed it.
I’ve been doing so many of these drills and they do work!!! I’ve been do one rotation on ice practicing snapping in, I used ot fall to my right side so I would hold the snapped in potion when I land because I couldn’t get the extra half rotation. After I got used to that I went into the harness to prevent serious injury’s because of bad habits, eventually after practicing and focusing non those bad habits I got it!
The best part of skating is the panache one uses after they jump. All the fancy hand movements and flair and improv skating to show we just did something you can't do.
if your falling to the right it may have to do with whipping your leg around, try to keep your shoulders in the right position to feel the resistance while your snapping in/rotating.
i landed my axel 3 time 1 and a half years ago and now, when the harness is literally tied to me, I have amazing axels. the harness is literally clipped to the belt. as soon as the clips come off or the belt goes away, I pop the jump and don't go for it. everyone keeps telling me it's psychological, which ik it is, but the weird thing is that I know that I can do this jump, but it's like me body won't let me. idk what to do anymore. I've been skating for 9 years, I'm only on junior moves and haven't gotten a consistent axel. I've been competing in the same category for 3 years. i love skating, but I'm starting to wonder if it's worth wasting my parents money if I'm not improving. i just got new skates so hopefully that helps but I don't have much hope anymore tho :(
Hoping to be close to landing it by the end of the year! (It's beginning of April rn) I'll try to remember to update when I finally land it! Hopefully these will be helpful
Okay so I get the rotation and height easy but for some reason the foot crossed/snap part doesn't really work well for me and I can't get my legs together :') tips?
Update I got the snap better and I can now fully rotate it. My final issue is landing which is mostly leg strength (woop woop) If u have issues with the snap too I recommend 1) waltz jump heel clicks (off ice is easier) 2) jumping, crossing in the air, and checking out landing off ice. 3) just holding the air position off ice while you brush your teeth or whatever lol. Hope it helps
@@dia_123 thanks! Im SO close to landing it because I’m rotating fully most of the time and I got the air position a lot better but it’s just the landing that i just cannot get together lmao. My problem is that when I try to land I don’t take my left foot out of the air position in time so I land with crossed feet and fall haha
@@sydney.564 omg bro I'm right here with u I litterally cannot land it on one foot. I either get stuck crossed, or land on one foot and my knees just give in lol. What my coach recommends is just jumping (no rotation) cross your feet, and land on one foot check out. Just repeating that over and over until u get it in muscle memory. Tell me if u get it!!
A WEEK!?! I've been trying to land it for more than a year 😭😭
Update: I LANDED IT THE DAY BEFORE YESTERDAY I'M SO HAPPY
WOO IM SO HAPPY FOR U
Thanks Brianna. This is my last single jump to land.

Do you have any advice to for not dropping my right side? Also, my air position is kinda wack so idk if that’s part of the problem or a result of it.

Also I used to do this too but it’s pretty simple to get rid of so don’t worry!

Ok, I noticed your jacket looked very familiar and I realized that it was because I am currently apart of magic city theater on ice!!!!!!!!!!
Do you have any tips for popping axels?
Make sure your preparation and takeoff are on the same place on the ice every time and practice your jumping rhythm off ice!
@@BriannaNicholeSkates thanks!
I was just watching this and then all of a sudden u show the background and I’m like, oh I’ve been there- 😂

did you land it?
@@jupiterdrops7752 no, Lutz is really difficult for me. I'm getting close to that being consistent tho
A week for an axel is so good

Ofc :)) I have one more too, Salchow spin, hop a little, change feet in the air, backspin. This one's my favorite

Hi I have my axel rotated all the way I just need to stick the landing I also struggle with folding at the waist when I land any tips?
It took me 2 years!!!
(I finally landed it because I didn't skate for 1 week)
Her: A week
Me: 2 AND A HALF FRICKIN YEARS
So I hurt my ankle doing off ice jumps. Landing while twisting on one foot is a recipe for disaster
