      @@thithanhphuongnguyen6539 ofcourse it works but only if you put hard efford in your practice. And you have to keep in mind that figure skates are athletes so if you are not fit and properly stretched and warmed up before stepping on the ice you may not be able to land a single axel.

    Would be super helpful to make a basics series but instead of just a tutorial, like, Why You're Not Getting Your Backward Crossovers Right, and you and your students demonstrate some common mistakes in that basic move that beginners wouldn't easily realize they're doing wrong. Because I think there are plenty of tutorials on how to do this-and-that basic, but really what they need is to know what to look out for. The feeling is always like, why am I getting this wrong. Plus points if you end up having like a third skater who's just in her alphas or betas and she learns along with the rest of us. Ooh, and maybe your viewers can send you in their progress videos and you can include them in the next video for like a community building aspect.

    Wow, you have really added some new angles on how to land that daunting jump! I am 61 yrs old, starting skating a 26, first lesson at 30, did some axels on the ice (mostly two foot landings). I can do them all day long of the ice, because I can push off the ball of my foot. I will try some of your techniques! Really good video, good smile and presentation, camera and editing, (I am a proffesional videographer). Great job!! Lets get more adults to skate! It is a great workout for any age, sex, culture! I was at the rink today and my mom was talking to a random mom, and the mom was saying how her daughter has only been on the ice 5 times and already has her axel and my mom is not stupid she was like there is no was so the mom points her kid and says oh here she goes she going to do an axel and she did a WALTZ JUMP and the mom thought her kid was just amazing. I didn't say this to the mom but I was like ya your kid is no ore than average I've seen a 5 year old do a waltz jump. and if your thinking you've gotta give her some credit for doing any kind of jump in rentals but nope this kid had her own skates. apparently his kid is an amazing gymnast (according to her mother) and even went on American ninja warrior. I looked her up on youtube to see her American ninja warrior video and the kid ate dust. she was full of herself and and filled with her moms words saying shes perfect and there is no oe near as good as her. IF you think im being mean … well you would agree with me if you where there.

    very good video, bunny hopes are good to practice often people overlook them as well . Axel may take even 7 years to get if skater has no coaching or very small number of coaching lessons, I believe if back spins are confident and strong and skater is confident, has no physical problems, can learn to be quick, its possible for most people to learn. Harness is also very very important

    I have a question. In December as an early Christmas gift I got a pair of skates I would put them on they don’t feel to right or anything, I’ll lace them up and they feel fine. But with in the first 5-10 mins of me skating my feet hurt so bad like that outside side part of my feet. Do you know why that may happen? Because I know it’s not tying them too tight because I’ve even had other people tie them for me who tie them they exact same. I think my skates our not wide enough but I just want another opinion. Thank you

    • @CoachMichelleHong
      @CoachMichelleHong  6 років тому +3

      You can definitely get your skates widened by a skate tech at your rink if you feel like they are too tight. I think it's best you go to the proshop and ask all the questions concerning your skates.

    When i first started axels with my first coach she repeated the same thing over and over again but it never really worked. It has been like that for like a year. Then covid started and i switched coaches and got my axel in less than a mont with my new coaches.

    I know the techniques, the problem is after 6 years of not skating, when I just got immensely inspired by yuzuru hanyu, here comes the pandemic and as u know:
    1. Hong Kong pandemic control measures are messed up and all forms of venues are just either closed or made into temporary testing venues
    2. Hong Kong has only 6 skating rinks and only one standard one, located in a far east region of hk. There is a skating rink at the mall nearby but it is less than 2/3 of the standard size.

    I’ve been able to land my axel off ice for a while now and my coach has finally put my in the harness! I have all the basic steps I.e: steps of jump, waltz loop, waltz backspin loop.

      I've been trying to get a decent single loop jump for 4 or 5 months...My flip still needs a lot of work, but it's better than my loop. I might try to get my axel before loop or lutz, which still scares me too much to try.

      Peanut and Oreo Basset I hated learning my loop jump, I spent 6 months in mental agony because I just couldn’t ‘do it’. And then one day , as if like pure magic it just clicked. Within 2 weeks I was doing them from crossovers and with speed and now I’m working on air position and distance + height. Honestly still shocked I have the jump! My point is, don’t lose hope. You never know what’s around the corner and what’s gonna happen next time you train!

    Thanks I have been working on and off on my skating for a year now because of exams and I left when learning my axel and I guess it realy has got me down knowing people get it so fast and I haven’t because I do like 3 attempts every month. I have the rotation I think it’s the height and knowing I can land it that I struggle with. I need to keep trying but it’s gotten me down because in my head I have been trying it a long time but in reality I realy haven’t so it’s sad watching others get it when I still cant.
