You are a true inspiration Raif, I admire how you’ve taken your life by the horns. I am not sure if I will ever get over the shame & guilt of my disease. I have been celibate since I suspected that I was positive over five years ago, on getting conformation I have completely removed myself & avoid situations where I may have to reveal my condition but in 2019 I got the nerve to ventured out and I met someone. I thought it best if I just put it out there and tell them my status and it went how I feared, they basically fled the scene. It’s not always easy to get back up and move on when you can fully relate to why you were rejected. You’ve come a long way from your diagnosis. Sharing your experiences gives me hope.

Thanks for sharing your story Ronald, I’m sorry you had that experience. People can be quite ignorant to the current realities of what it means to be living with HIV! It’s NOT reflection of who you are or your health ❤️

Great video. Enjoyed hearing the doc chat about HIV meds, especially the newly approved injectable. Late 80s and early 90's none of these were even on the radar. It was 1996 before the first ARV was available and now in 2021 those are primitive.
My late partner(DOD 1993) had advanced AIDS when diagnosed in 1988 and the original ARVs would have been ineffective. He did have about 4 years of decent quality of life due to AZT, which worked for awhile and all the prophylactics prescribed.
It took some time, but my life is now great.

Thank you as always!! Just had my office visit. I am on the same med, I also gained weight. 170/to 200
I blame the epidemic/my age. It’s funny I asked my doctor the same questions you did.
Just saying, You still look awesome. More huggable. LOL you do need to get more rest, you wear your system down and make your meds work harder. Stress, sleep/bad nutrition will get you

This video was great in so many ways. First I miss sr Gladstein. He was my dr when I lived in LA and he was so good. Next is Raif talking about weight gain. I’m right there with you but you still look amazing !! Don’t worry about the number as long as you feel good. You can still pull off that tight shirt!! Next is you reminding me it’s probably time for my next appointment. And last I’d really love to get those Injectables. I forget at least once a week to take my pills. Also I feel lazy and in ambitious working only 58 hours a week lol.

I think I have said this before, but I'm pretty sure I might be in love with your HIV doc. ;). As a side note, it's amazing to me how much states vary in their Covid vaccine protocols. I am not HIV+ but I qualified for it back in January due to another underlying condition, and found an appointment at a private physician's office like yours who primarily treats HIV patients. In Texas. California is crazy the way they are doing things. Hope you can get it soon. It's such a huge relief to finally be vaccinated.

For some reason I don't want them to see my medication. I have no idea why because they literally already know about it, but there's still that internal worry. I’m sorry but I disagree with what this physician is initially saying. I have never had a weight issue and when put on biktarvy I gained weight and not a modest amount…I gained over 40 lbs. I wasn’t sitting around “eating bon bons or watching Netflix.” (That remark was very insensitive to the hiv community btw). I have now switched to Dovato and I find I have more energy and it is easier for me to lose weight. Hope this helps someone.

Go Keto bro! It really worked for me during the pandemic. Also do intermittent fasting till about 1pm, with about a 5 or 6 hour eating window. I also built a backyard gym, and traveled to Victorville 3x a week to the only open gym, even 1 or twice a month to Tijuana where gyms never closed. With that being said, I'm 64 years young, and have maintened a 70 lb weight loss of now 6 years! P.s. try HIIT 3x a week.

Hey Raif! I and my family greatly appreciate your content. I have been Undetectable for a few years on Atripla ever since my diagnosis and havent made the switch over to the new drugs. Mostly due to the costs. However now that biktarvy is available in generics in my country, I wanted to know a little more about your doctors thought process. Specifically what was their opinion on switching your medications several times so far? Were they worried about the whole process from going from Atripla, Truvada, Genvoya, Biktarvy? Did the worry about resistance? Or was it sort of proactive measure to always have you on "the best so far" type of thing ? Thanks again.

I don’t agree with injections as we need to keep BLOOD LEVELS STABLE and a monthly injection CANNOT do that… I know this for a fact as they did it with the medication subutex and everyone on the injection was in pain the last week and a half as the blood levels go high at the start and low at the end of the month. So a daily tablet keeps blood levels linear.. so I won’t be stopping from a 24hour constant refresh of medication. I don’t like Biktarvy - INTELENCE and truvada was the best combination I’ve ever had. That intellence is incredible! I want to go back on Intellence
