This week on Let Dirt Fly, we begin the build of our 2020 Can-Am Outlander 850 XMR. Recently, we found metal shavings in the oil, so while were rebuilding it, were doing a full high compression 850 build! We're also completely changing the color of the quad as well to give it a unique look! Follow along as we build the Baddest 850 on UA-cam!

His is a big bore build, not stock bore lol.
Also if it helps I have a 850 crank and rods all oem if ya need em. Currently swapping to a 1k build
Are you going to swap to the bigger trans that has lower gearing? Like the 6X6 or the xmr Rene 1k?
My brother’s 2022 850 outlander with just an exhaust and tune makes 93hp
Most likely to the crank if he’s lucky. We’re talking wheel horsepower.

You can’t spin a can am engine over 10k rpm the clutches would explode etc even at 10k good luck trying to keep it together
You sure can sir. All comes down to setup and knowing what you’re doing. The guys I’m working with have engines that have lived at these RPMs for years. This build will probably not spin that high. It all depends where it makes peak power when it gets in the dyno.
@@LetDirtFly if you can show the rpm on a pc5 or equivalent maybe I would believe it lol I know several guys that are full time racing and they usually stick around 9500

You can indeed spin a Rotax motor 10k+ rpms. Mine has been living at that range for past 3 years, with a CVTech primary clutch. Now is it feasible? Probably not but the machine still makes/gains power at that RPM, and further most, sounds pretty gnarly on nitrous 😂😂😂. I have some date logs of her hitting 12k. Problem is the crank flex’s so much it’ll knock signal from the crank sensor sometimes. But we like to party 🔥🔥🔥. Stock bores ftw 💯
