  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) | Causes, Risk Factors, Signs & Symptoms, Complications, Diagnosis, Treatment
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a very common condition involving decreased airflow due to obstruction and in the presence of respiratory effort. Obstructive Sleep Apnea is caused by too much relaxation or collapse muscles and tissues in the neck and throat, including the tongue, which can lead to partial or near complete obstruction. OSA can lead to a variety of signs and symptoms, including daytime somnolence and fatigue. In this lesson, we discuss the risk factors for getting OSA, the signs and symptoms, how it’s diagnosed and how it’s treated.

I resolved my obstructive sleep apnea by diet change.
Reduced my omega-6 fat intake significantly, eliminated most sugar, and fast 16-20 hours a day.
Inflammation went down all over my body, includingy sinuses.
With clear sinuses, I breath through my nose, even when I obstruct.
These changes also eliminated near all my allergies, as well as arthritis and chronic pain. After 2 years, it has nearly eliminated my asthma and I no longer need medication.
This drastic improvement in sleep quality, fixed my minor ED issues, and eliminated my bipolar and depression issues.
I do sometimes use a nose strip to help, especially if I have a little stuffy nose, or eat things I shouldn't.
    BMI 27
    Neck 42cm
No CPAP or BiPAP needed for me.

Nice, I have found similar results as you through diet change. Look into bioflavonoids too. I found lemon bioflavonoids opened my sinuses and made breathing so much easier.

So what all do you eat? Fruits and veggies and nuts and lean protein???

      I mostly eat:
      • Red Meat
      • Lean poultry/fish/pork
      • Vegetables
      • Cheeses
      • Occasional Rice or whole oats, but not a staple.
      • Bread on sandwiches or burgers
      Occasional potatoes
      • Limited fruit, some berries on occasion.
      I cook with
      • clarified butter
      • beef tallow
      • coconut oil (for my no cow friends)
If I need a liquid oil, I use a quality olive oil I know is not adultered.
      I never eat:
      • vegetable oils
      • Dressings or sauces with vegetable oils
      • Fried foods unless I fry it at home in clarified butter or beef tallow.
I very rarely eat processed foods, but sometimes I miss a good chip, and don't always feel like making them myself.
For ruminant animals(cow, deer, goat etc) I eat any cut, preferably fatty. If poultry or pork, I try to have lean cuts, due to their tendency to concentrate Polyunsaturated fats from their diets, unless they are fed a natural diet, low in PUFA.

      @@Unsensitive so almost keto??

    • @Unsensitive
      @Unsensitive Рік тому

@@ShaGemDropper on most days I'm definitely not eating a keto diet.
The only reason I hit ketosis is that most days I do a 16-20 hour fasting window.
On many days I eat enough carbs I wouldn't hit ketosis without being fasted, or excercising.
      For example.
Today I did not eat breakfast.
I ate a late lunch around 1:00 p.m.of sweet potatoes, vegetables, and turkey.
I ate dinner of 2 cheese pizza slices, along with 5 all beef hot dogs, around 7:00 p.m. (hanging out with friends tonight)
I won't eat again till tomorrow evening probably.

Thank you for this. My husband & I both suffer from OSA. I have hypothyroidism & we both are diabetic/overweight. This makes me realize it's time for us both to get a checkup since it's been awhile that we've seen our sleep doctor. This was very helpful. God bless.

I have OSA and stopped breathing 36 times an hour. I lost a lot of weight and I was checked and now I stop breathing 11 times an hour. So I am borderline. I couldn't get on with the mask you have to wear.

Apps like Sleep Cycle that record your snoring episodes can be really helpful in the absence of a significant other to witness them. That’s how I found out I am having hypopnias

Deep or REM sleep? So if you don't sleep well, then it can't be it.
Repeating a statement as an explanation of what it means... not smart
