I've been infected by the gardening virus for a long time. Love how you inspire people to do the same at every end of a video.
Wow you're joking about viruses when we are in the middle of a pandemic? That's disgusting and insensitive.
Here in Brazil, we consume a lot of eggplant; It is used to make stews, juices, and even eggplant lasagna. In addition to being tasty, it has many health benefits.
I grew Rosita for the first time a few years ago. It's by far the best eggplant I've ever tasted! I recommend it to EVERYONE!
I agree Candice, it's and absolute winner!
Dang wish I had seen this b4 I bought my plants from the lady I get all my plants from she had this also but I bought black beauty
I prefer the ichiban variety
Tuck! Thanks to you and James. Great step by step especially from seed to transplant then when to water and when harvest. I know eggplants love summer heat. Don’t forget about defending against beetles and caterpillars. Thanks Tuck…and U2James
Thanks for sharing all the tips on growing egg plant I will plant one in a bucket stay safe James and tuck 💓
Tuck is always my favorite in all your videos 🥰🐾
Yes! I’ve been looking forward to your video all week. ❤❤❤❤s for Tuck!
Let's Gooo Hillary! Me and Tuck wait all week to post, we love sharing what we have going on with you and everyone else. 😁❤️🐕
Really enjoyed this video. Excellent info for me as a first time eggplanter. The Tuck extra was even better. That guy is pure love.
I love slicing up eggplant into large round circles and frying them up on the BBQ, it seems to really draw the flavour out of them when you fry them. Tasty AF!
Starting a container garden this fall, zone 9B. Already eating salad every day! Taking notes of your favorite varieties, and love how many tips you have been giving this fall for container gardens! Thanks, James and Tuck!
I am happy for you. It takes work and you did it! 🥗
Inspiring video 💚
Thank you for sharing your knowledge
Keep it going mate! Inspiring world wide! Cheers from Portugal!
Some people think it’s magic or nature that pops the beans , but it’s actually James Prigioni intros that bring all seeds to life.
I learned that in 1st year biology
James thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with all of us it's a blessing😇🥰
You’re welcome, and thanks for the kind words and encouragement 😁🐕❤️

I live on almost 5 acres in South East Texas, but even though I have plenty of space I still grow everything in containers. It's so much easier to work and maintain vs putting everything in the ground.
Omg - the bonus footage of Tuck made me tear up. Of course, I started and stay here because of the gardening content but your devotion to him is such a special add. BTW - would recommend the shooting star eggplant. Great look and flavor. And also great in containers.
Have been watching this channel for months now, it's been an inspiration that I've been putting into practice in my small space. All the way from Naivasha, Kenya,Africa. Cheers 🥂
James very addicted to your channel. I have been a grower for most of my life. Not a great one. I started watching in the spring 2022. You have completely inspired me. ❤❤❤for Tuck. I gave my yorkie a carrot I grew. She loved it. Lol
Always good to see the boss! and you're looking good too James! I grew eggplant in my ratatouille garden this year. Thanks for sharing your know-how!

I ALWAYS enjoy your videos. I have to admit, I get a bit jealous of your garden. Lol. But it is also my motivation to get mine looking like yours.
I've been watching you for years and you're always teaching me something new. I appreciate you. Hope Tuck is well 💋 What is your favorite all-purpose fertilizer??
Thanks for hanging with me and Tuck the last few years, we are glad you get some value from the videos T Marie 😁🐕❤️

Thanks James - enjoy your videos. Tuck is a boss and enjoy seeing him in the videos.
Awesome information! Thank you for what you do! God bless!
We got so much egg plant this year! I love the patio ones the best as they are on the smaller size
Hello from Australia James !!
Love your videos your awesome
Always love your content and enthusiasm , got a lot out it this season (2022) , first yr with raised beds . They did very well except the weather at the end of the season super sucked , got too cold and very wet all at once way too early . November weather before trees even started to change color 😒🤮🥶
Love seeing Tuck! peace and love from Ohio
My eggplants didn't make it this year 😪 I planted them too close to my okra, and just didn't get the sun they needed. Live and learn; next season I'll do better.
Wow, very impressive eggplants. They do require so much heat. Ours just got too cold over our cold spring this year and took too long to flower.
Just bought some baby eggplants today planning on growing in containers. Being in CT and a similar grow zone to Jersey, this channel is clutch!
thank you for this video, i am going to plant eggplants next year.
Extra big "Let's go!" in this vid...ya love to see it!
Love growing eggplant! So beautiful!
Love Tuck! He is so chill!
I love your energy , garden and Puck . I really miss northern soil and only grow in pots down here the nutrients wash out to fast here .
Sorry for the typo Tuck is so adorable .

Always good to see Tuck!
Great video, thank you. Tuck was the highlight.
LOVE your videos and enthusiasm. I've learnt a lot from your films. Question: can you do a video on eggplants again and cover the issue of whether or not, and how to prune the leaves? thanks
Awesome 👌 thanks James...give Tuck a hug from me!

Great to see growing eggplants in containers. Supposedly they grow well here in Hawaii but I have a lot of wild chickens and pigs running around. I’m going to try this, thanks for this awesome video James! 🤙🌺👍
You have no idea how much you help me. Thank you so much for your videos!! Just watching you makes me even more excited to go out in my garden. I found myself just sitting next to it with a big smile!!
Awesome video! Thank you!
Great info, thanks James and Tuck. I have trouble growing eggplant here, so this season i will try containers. Would love to grow the Rosita, but unfortunately i havent been able to access the seeds here in Aotearoa/NZ.
Daughter bought the grow fall shirts. Just love the material and colors!
James I love growing container varieties “Casper” & “Black Beauty “ along with Thai Basil, purple Basil, purple Salvia & purple prince Zinnia in giant patio pots. I change up the color combinations yearly. I have always found the eggplants too bitter, strictly ornamental. But maybe I’ll try out your tricks for testing ripeness👏
👋hey from Haddon Heights, NJ
Try Cardinal Basil and Pineapple Sage if you haven't already. I grew the basil for the first time this year for the flowers and they are amazing, kind of a dark burgundy and very different from most basil flowers. Both the hummingbirds and I love the red flowers on the pineapple sage (a type of salvia I think). These take a long time to flower so are best started indoors in March. I grow the purple basil in pots as well.
@@sbffsbrarbrr I grew cardinal basil for the 1st time as well! In large pots with other plants too & in the garden! I totally agree it’s a show stopper! I start my gardens indoors in my “grow room” spare bedroom, from seed around mid February. Pineapple Sage seeds I will be on the look out for! Thank you👏👍👩🏻🌾
Long live Tuck
❤️❤❤ Love the bonus footage of Tuck, he's such an amazing dog! My garden has thrived because of you.
I recruited my son this morning to help mix soil for potting up some plants and I thought for sure he was getting carried away with the pearlite. We ended up talking about how important it is especially when growing in containers. We also discussed the importance of mycorrhizal in containers. I have watched HOURS of UA-cam videos and this is the first time I've run across this!
What a cute little dog!
Thank you, James! I so look forward to your videos.
I grow tomatillos. (For salsa verde) They are member of same family as eggplants.
Great video James, thanks for sharing ❤️❤️❤️
Praying for you and Tuck. I love seeing Tuck in your videos. I planted eggplants, but they never germinated.
Tantissimi cuoricini a Tuck ❤️❤️❤️.
Grazie mille e buona giornata.
Out of all the nightshades, I seem to have the most trouble getting eggplant seeds to germinate. I've heard that wet paper towel germination in a warm location is useful for pepper seeds, but would this also work for eggplants?
You are so awesome!!! Thank you for such a great channel!
For the little “boss”❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great stuff and love that pup
Tuck is the boss!
Always nice to see Tuck! He’s the King!❤
Thank you!
Love Tuck, too!
I like that he talks fast and gets to the point!!!
great tips!! thankyou.😊
Incredible video, we did the same this year in the UK and I couldn't believe how many eggplants we got, or aubergines as we call them haha
Thanks!
Thanks James!!! 💗
Very informative. Thank you.
Love you and Tuck ❤❤❤
Love your vids man!
loved the video, thanks.
Hey James, We love the long thin varieties and for three years we had plants that grew but flowered so late there was no fruit before the first frost. This year was similar but we had two fruits make it to about 5" long the day of the first frost. So I have hope for next year. I will try the steps you spoke of here and will bookmark this video for 2 months before my frost date on the calendar to go back and watch it. So I will have two weeks to get everything prepared. Thank you for the video
I recently talked to someone who starts their eggplants in the fall and just move them on up in container sizes until they can transplant outside. They said it’s been the only way they’ve been able to get a harvest before frost here in Missouri without being great with fertilizer. I am trying it this year. I started them a couple days ago. My grow room is in my work office so it’ll be easy to just keep up with them since I work in the same room.
I was also tempted to try to overwinter one of my eggplants like I do some of my peppers, them being the same kinda species sort of, but I haven’t decided. I have till tomorrow I guess to see if I want to try that experiment since our first frost is coming up soon.
@@Hollenross Very interesting It never hurts to try an experiment with 2 plants just to see how it works for you in your area I am thinking......
Tuck and James ✨💚❤️🧡💙💖👌🏾
Rosita is an exceptionally good eggplant and as you said very productive, I also like casper eggplant which is an all white heirloom.
Beautiful plants, the tee shirt are great !
Very helpful. Thank you
James I have been very inspired and working and planning all summer to start constructing a food forest. Relocated things around the yard, carport, generator, stone area, cut down trees, etc....so that I can make a decent size food forest. I live near wetlands, brook, and woods so I have lots of leaves and made 3 huge compost piles (which are just about ready) as well as leaf mould piles. I recently bought a wood chipper and made 4 large contractor (250 gallon durabags), full of arborist wood chips and have a large tractor coming in the next 2 weeks. My question I have is that I have horrible clay soil now and I would like to remove about 15 to 20 inches of the clay top soil and replace with 5 or 6 inches of compost then 12 inches of wood chip mulch and bring it back up level with the rest of the yard before winter in hopes that it will make it better to start in spring. Is this plan seem alright? I can't seem to find someone who has done this. Everybody just says pile the wood chips but I don't want it lumped up higher than rest of yard. Hope to hear from ya. Thanks and give Tuck a scratch under the chin for me.
Great video James. I'm wondering how eggplant does throughout the fall. How late in the year can you grow it? Give Tuck a pat on the head and a scratch under his chin for me.
Great grow guide!
Thanks! 😁❤️🐕
Eggplant….. my fav!!!!!
Lovely 🥰👍
love Tuck!
