Great questions here Cameron - - I keep an LPE6 battery in the camera at all times so that if I need to hot swap from one power source to another, the camera will not turn off if I need to keep recording. Hey Micah - - that’s a good question. Everything I’ve read suggests that the Ronan S might be beeping because one of the Gimbal access motors has too much strain on it. You may have already done this, but the Thing I would recommend doing is to turn the gimbal off or at least put it in sleep mode and balance it by hand first to get everything close to balanced before turning on the motors. I’ve never had it beep at me before, so perhaps the weight distribution is either uneven with the different weight distribution you have going? Or, it may be some other detail that I am missing. Best of luck to you and appreciate you watching and thanks for the comment here.
So I really wish I could post a photo lol but I got it to work with no beeping. Ronin S Pocket Cinema 6K Sigma 16-35 Art Lens ND Filter SmallRig Full Cage w/ Samsung T5 holder Used the mounting hole on the far right of the cage to shift the camera far enough away. It balanced almost perfectly but kept flipping backwards so I new I needed weight on the front end. So I gaff taped the small rig top handle to the from of release plate under the lens! Hahaha IT WAS THE EXACT WEIGHT I NEEDED I ordered a counter weight to try so I don’t have to keep using gaf tape but for now.. it works. I did recalibrate it and that helped also but I’ve used it on two different shoots and it’s never beeped and the motors held up perfectly.
another question, in the video you mentioned that you have the old model Ronin S, but the amazon link you provided is for the Ronin 2, which one is in this video? IF it is the Ronin S2, do i need to get the Combo? thanks!!
Thanks mark-unfortunately the newer rs2 can’t power the Bmpcc from the gimbal. So if you’re wanting to power directly from the gimbal then go with the ronin-s. If the rs2 (which I now have and enjoy the refined controls and features) yes to the combo & 3D focus!
i like that focus wheel attached to the nato handle there. i just got the RS2, there doesnt seem to be a place where I can attach the Nato side handle, any suggestions? thanks
@@LivingLife972 hey Mark-you can get a nato attachment to mount the quick release on it or you can get a mount that fits on using an m42 screw set to attach the follow focus quick release plate.
I'm not sure what all can easily handle the weight/offset of the bmpcc 6k -- you should be able to find a good price on a used Ronin S, depending on your location. Alternatively, you could use a glidecam/steady cam or another stabilizer that is not motorized? Many folks use the Zhiyun gimbals, but I don't have any experience with them.
If you are using the bmpcc 6k or 4K you do need to either have a lot of the LP e6 batteries or a power source. I use a core swx power supply and get 2.5hrs from a single charge. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Ronin S
Pocket Cinema 6K
Sigma 16-35 Art Lens
ND Filter
SmallRig Full Cage w/ Samsung T5 holder
Used the mounting hole on the far right of the cage to shift the camera far enough away.
It balanced almost perfectly but kept flipping backwards so I new I needed weight on the front end.
So I gaff taped the small rig top handle to the from of release plate under the lens! Hahaha
IT WAS THE EXACT WEIGHT I NEEDED
I ordered a counter weight to try so I don’t have to keep using gaf tape but for now.. it works.
I did recalibrate it and that helped also but I’ve used it on two different shoots and it’s never beeped and the motors held up perfectly.
@@micahcamper7703 that’s great! Ha. Ingenuity and some gaff tape!!
What is the Camera that you used for this video?
The cameras filming this video were the Canon Eos R, Canon 80D, Canon 60D, and an iPhone. Thanks for watching and asking.
another question, in the video you mentioned that you have the old model Ronin S, but the amazon link you provided is for the Ronin 2, which one is in this video? IF it is the Ronin S2, do i need to get the Combo? thanks!!
Thanks mark-unfortunately the newer rs2 can’t power the Bmpcc from the gimbal. So if you’re wanting to power directly from the gimbal then go with the ronin-s.
If the rs2 (which I now have and enjoy the refined controls and features) yes to the combo & 3D focus!
@@JosephMcBrayer thanks again!
i like that focus wheel attached to the nato handle there. i just got the RS2, there doesnt seem to be a place where I can attach the Nato side handle, any suggestions? thanks
@@LivingLife972 hey Mark-you can get a nato attachment to mount the quick release on it or you can get a mount that fits on using an m42 screw set to attach the follow focus quick release plate.
This is the one I’ve used: amzn.to/3GxpC17
Hi, what other cheaper gimbal would still pass for the BlackMagic …?
I'm not sure what all can easily handle the weight/offset of the bmpcc 6k -- you should be able to find a good price on a used Ronin S, depending on your location. Alternatively, you could use a glidecam/steady cam or another stabilizer that is not motorized? Many folks use the Zhiyun gimbals, but I don't have any experience with them.
@@JosephMcBrayer Ok. Thank you for your answer.
@@blertonsaraci of course. Appreciate your question and best of luck to you.
how is battery life with? Do you have to change battery every 30 mins?
If you are using the bmpcc 6k or 4K you do need to either have a lot of the LP e6 batteries or a power source. I use a core swx power supply and get 2.5hrs from a single charge. Thanks for watching and commenting.
The t7 works after update
Yes, glad to have those as well as the T5s!
Thanks for making this! What handle did you use to mount the nucleus nano follow focus?
Thanks Jared! It’s the metal Smallrig side handle with a tilta nucleus nano quick release. I’ll look for a link for it. (It was an affordable, durable option - the wood handled side handle was $$$)
Do you have a kit or links somewhere to this stuff?
Hey there Hassan, I’ve had links to it all and I’ll try to relocate those for you. Thx.
I believe that’s the Ikan ring handle.
@@victorgenao2936 Yes indeed -- I'll work on getting a list posted later this week. Thanks.
Just added the links to the items in the description--hope they're helpful!
why are all your options crossed out in the description?
Hey Anthony -- I'm not sure what you mean, it looks good on my end?
Thought I heard you say church cinematography... God Bless you
Indeed I did! “Writing movement” is literally what the Greek origins of cinematography and the church and non-profits could learn much from how visual storytellers utilize framing, light, composition, and more.
(also, your wedding films look great! lots of great movement & energy! What all do you shoot with?)
@@JosephMcBrayer Amen. I'm a filmmaker too and wanting to film faith based films now. I have just upgraded to the 6k pro from my Panasonic Gh5s.
Sounds great-lots of great stories to tell-cool, hope you’re enjoying the bmpcc6k pro!
@@JosephMcBrayer yeah I like so far.. it's my first super35mm and I don't want to go back to M4/3rds!! It's looks so more cinematic and with the Gamma curve the 6k pro has.
I subscribed bro. I love to talk cameras and cinematography so would like to talk more.
Sadly BMPCC4K users like me can’t do this…at least not like that
Hey bro.I want it all pls.from pakistan
Hello! Thanks for watching!
imagine going to this trouble to film delusional people publicly worshipping their mythical imaginary friend.
Thanks for the comment here-I’m all for dialogue and discussion-and, your tone here friend isn’t helpful for dialogue between theists and Anon-theists. Anti-theism is a fundamentalism of a different kind and if you’ll take a moment to see other things here on my channel, you’ll see I’m not an enemy of non-theists nor am I an exclusivist theist. I’m sorry for the harm caused to you by religious folks and I wish you well.
Hi Joseph can I have the grip link?
The Ikan grip has been discontinued, but this is a similar ring: amzn.to/3OH56Oq
If I were buying another one, I’d get this one: amzn.to/3yoeYax
@@JosephMcBrayer thanks man! I like the last one, but it seems to be for the new Ronin, not for the S. Sell me yours! lol 🤣
@@alphacreatorsmedia hahaha. Lols.
Well, the grip rings most all have similar mounting options as long as you have the power adapter for the dji ronin s: amzn.to/39ZR5wz
It can mount to most any ring if you have a bottom plate on the ring.
@@alphacreatorsmedia and, this one is made where you can just put the whole gimbal on there without buying the power adapter, battery, etc.
Not a bad option:
amzn.to/3nmNiMW
@@JosephMcBrayer that works! Thanks 🙏🏽
