oil was biggest commodity in the world decades back. Saudi was the biggest guy in oil market. Now USA is the biggest oil producer in the world ( not Saudi Arabia ). Natural gas unheard before but now has taken a big share of energy market, EVs too. Look at our home now, smartphone may be among the most valuable item. There are so many new oil discoveries in the world quite recently. Best examples are Guyana, Brazil, Nigeria, Russia etc. These are just few examples from each continent. What happened when OPEC + tried to limit production for raising prices? they couldn't because USA boosted it's oil production and even India started importing from USA. Very soon we are going to witness modular nuclear reactors which are factory produced few containers in size with clean energy. The oil industry is too fragmented and Saudi can no longer sell in USA because USA is no longer their biggest importer but China. BTW India was importing oil from Russia using INR Russia and now is not accepting INR Time has changed. AI and chips are the BIG oil now. Oil industry is just like a low margin business like PC or commodities. An young USA company NVIDIA market capitalization alone is much bigger than entire global oil industry. NVIDIA market capitalization is as big as HALF OF entire chinese stock market capitalization ( 3.X trillion versus 6.X trillion ). Similar US hegemony in all kind of Chips, AI, cloud, software. These are bringing immense immense wealth to America.
Brics currency backed by many resources is the future reserve currency. Or even if brics currency is no succesfull, all non western countries will trade with their own currencies. In the end the currency used as a medium of transaction, whether for petroleum or natural gas or something else, depends on its stability and universality of acceptance. If and when China and India become the dominant industrial countries ( and their share in world trade increases substantially) their currencies would rise in their global acceptance. All the noise about the imminent fall of USD as a reserve currency is mostly wishful thinking unsubstantiated by facts.

Well there is a new super power China 😄 They may not be offer all US could at this time but more or less they are on par with US on many terms or even advanced hence more and more countries joining BRICS or leaning towards it. But pretty sure they will surpass US in the next 10-15 yrs, given they have biggest energy suppliers on their side and best brains. All the innovation in technology happens in China (look at number of research papers and patents filed), they are leading in electric cars and other manufacturing. China is building products parallel to west, let it be Aircrafts, space tech, electronics and high end chips, rail and road engineering. And they can move pretty fast, look at how Huawei found a way to manufacture high end chips. You are a bit outdated on this topic I guess 😄

oil was biggest commodity in the world decades back. Saudi was the biggest guy in oil market. Now USA is the biggest oil producer in the world ( not Saudi Arabia ). Natural gas unheard before but now has taken a big share of energy market, EVs too. Look at our home now, smartphone may be among the most valuable item. There are so many new oil discoveries in the world quite recently. Best examples are Guyana, Brazil, Nigeria, Russia etc. These are just few examples from each continent. What happened when OPEC + tried to limit production for raising prices? they couldn't because USA boosted it's oil production and even India started importing from USA. Very soon we are going to witness modular nuclear reactors which are factory produced few containers in size with clean energy. The oil industry is too fragmented and Saudi can no longer sell in USA because USA is no longer their biggest importer but China.
BTW India was importing oil from Russia using INR Russia and now is not accepting INR

An young USA company NVIDIA market capitalization alone is much bigger than entire global oil industry. Well there is a new super power China 😄 They may not be offer all US could at this time but more or less they are on par with US on many terms or even advanced hence more and more countries joining BRICS or leaning towards it. But pretty sure they will surpass US in the next 10-15 yrs, given they have biggest energy suppliers on their side and best brains. All the innovation in technology happens in China (look at number of research papers and patents filed), they are leading in electric cars and other manufacturing. China is building products parallel to west, let it be Aircrafts, space tech, electronics and high end chips, rail and road engineering. And they can move pretty fast, look at how Huawei found a way to manufacture high end chips. You are a bit outdated on this topic I guess 😄
