If you give your surface a quick coat of boiled linseed oil about 48 hours before you use the IR tool it will strip even faster. Make sure the linseed oil is dry. Great video

I seen the videos using linseed oil , but have not tried it.
Now I’m going to give it a try, thanks!

I appreciate the review and demo. From what I've seen, though, order delivery is delayed because of current supply-chain issues everywhere, and I'm trying to finish exterior work before the winter rains come. This would have been a tremendous help, even after I fainted from the $500 purchase price. I have to do a lot of overhead, under-rafter/under-eaves work in small divided sections, and the electric sanders just aren't fitting in those spaces.

I've seen a lot of videos and information about using the Cobra Speedheater but it is all about removing paint from wood. My job will be using to remove many layers of paint (all, no doubt pre-1978) from a steam pipe. It is a heavy duty metal steel pipe. It heats the bathroom in the winter. Any info or suggestions about using the Cobra to remove old paint from a steam pipe? Thank you.

I would not hesitate to use the Cobra Speedheater to remove paint from a steam pipe. I don’t know all your details, however, if it is a steam pipe made of galvanized pipe or copper pipe then removing the paint would be accomplished at a temperature less than the temperature to solder copper , and I would assume that the pipe has water in it which would prevent the pipe getting to hot as well.
I use metal flashing to prevent a wall, floor or other surface I would not want to get to hot. Metal, copper or aluminum, flashing is available at most hardware stores. Just cut a piece to size and bend to make it work for you.
If you have not bought a Cobra Speedheater yet. Use my link please to make the purchase, it helps me and is appreciated. They have specials and they are having one this 4th of July weekend.
Let me know how it goes!
