  • How to, Harley Davidson Sportster clutch adjustment. This is often a neglected service. because some feel that if the lever feels ok then it doesn't need adjusting.... the adjustment is for the freeplay in your clutch hub, This is really important, and a really easy job.
    Tools Needed. 1/2 and 9/16 open end wrench. Torx bit 27 for Derby cover.
    Flat tip screwdriver for clutch hub adjustment.

    I would add: replace all those Torx head derby cover bolts with allen heads. I had to drill out all of them after the heads got soft and stripped out over the years.

    Just got my first 2001 sportster 1200. Your videos are amazing, everything I need to know about my motorcycle. I have a jack but yours looks much better. I have trouble aligning mine so the jiffy stand doesn't foul it. The small post where the spring attaches gets in the way. Not sure if I can get one like yours in the UK. Where should the jack sit?

    • @TwoWheelRocco
      @TwoWheelRocco  Рік тому

      Happy to help. Good luck with your new Sportster. As for the jack, cut two pieces of three-quarter plywood 2" x 16" use that on jack pads. hold your jack on an angle and you should have no problem getting a motorcycle up in the air with your kick stand down. they are difficult because of the spring on the kicks stand. Thank you for watching in all your support Mark. Ride safe and have a great day.

    You, sir, are a natural born teacher. Having the clutch adjusted by the book makes the clutch action just right, as far as where the bike takes off. It's amazing what a 16th of an inch too tight or too loose makes. It drags or starts slipping when it gets hot. This video gets you right in the sweet spot, for sure. Thanks for helping the folks out in such a patient way.

      @@Soulriderpowder No it will not Bob. Has to be a low profile. Mine sits an inch and a half off the ground. There's not much clearance on there with the bike on its kickstand. That's what's nice about the low profile it's on the kickstand you slide it on the one hand on the bike and your foot pump it up and you're in business, hope that helps. Ride safe and have a great day. No need for a second person. Which is nice.
