- 1983: Cabbage Patch Mania Grips South Florida, Part I: Shoppers Go Coocoo for Cabbage Patch Kids
In this clip WTVJ's Ana Azcuy files two Cabbage Patch stories from a North Miami Zayre store: One at six o'clock reporting that the dolls are in stock and another for the late show capturing the crush of consumers who showed up to get their "Kid."
It seems like a fairly mild mania in comparison to more recent Black Friday incidents and everybody who wants a doll seems to get one. So what's all the hysteria about?

i collect those dolls they are cool but not to fight over really
Right I mean they were just going very crazy cause if they run out then that's when they get mad, walk out of the store and start complaining
Same! I have like 12 even tho I’ve literally already got ina argument on Facebook about a cabbage patch kid🥲
It's nice that they're all black and everyone wants them just the same.
IKR? I noticed too that they were all black dolls but no one seemed to care. They were Cabbies and that's all that mattered. I happen to love black Cabbies, myself...and I only have ONE!!!
1:05 a people trying to get on the news
They liked to make Zayre their store
I'm not sure why the girl at the end of the video made that statement. I hope she realizes that presents doesn't make Christmas. It's the people that she cherishes in her life that make it so. I feel sad for the ones out there who have lost their loved ones this holiday season.
That’s why I stopped caring about getting gifts a long time ago and just wanted to spend it with my family
Zayre
Aw yes those orange hanging aisle signs cluttered aisles thick cash register booth lamps
I remember cabbage patch kids my family give us 4
I was 7 when this happened, I couldn’t stand those things, the jingle to the commercials annoyed the hell out of me.
