  • THIS RECRUITMENT FILM PRESENTED BY THE FLORIDA DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION IS DESIGNED TO SHOW BUSINESS PEOPLE AND INDUSTRIALISTS THAT FLORIDA IS "NO LONGER A LAND OF PALMS, BUT A LAND OF PEOPLE." AS OUR NARRATOR TAKES VIEWERS ON A WHIRLWIND TOUR OF THE STATE'S INDUSTRIAL PARKS AND COMPLEXES, HE EMPHASIZES ALL THAT FLORIDA HAS TO OFFER FOR COMPANIES AND THEIR EMPLOYEES. THESE INCENTIVES INCLUDE: NO STATE INCOME TAX, NO STATE PROPERTY TAX, NO DUPLICATING ESTATE TAXES, THE EXCELLENT TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE, THE "BUSINESSLIKE ATMOSPHERE" THROUGHOUT THE STATE, AND OF COURSE THE PLENTIFUL SUNSHINE.

I never knew Florida was a heavy manufacturing base. It's a shame the Midtown/Wynwood section of Miami didn't preserve it's industrial roots and invest in light manufacturing jobs instead of frivolous crap like Target.

It has to be at least late 63. The announcer at some point mentioned "Cape Kennedy", LBJ changed the name from Cape Canaveral that year. Mid 60's is about right.
