Bro do they not educate you northern hemispherists about the other half of the planet where the season is different to where you live? But kinda based comment otherwise so I'll give you a pass
@@Lolcohol you ve got extremely harsh winters in sa. Up to ~25 degres during winterdays. Must be soo cold. Also yess, i'm jealous. I hate cold weather.
My bad take is if you have to spend hours outside a game in a 3rd party app to understand it then it's badly designed game. Just to be clear I have 1000's of hours in and enjoy Poe but I hope POE2 alleviates this problem.
Don't think it's a bad take. I think tools like PoB are incredible but it would be nice if you didn't feel like you had to use it to achieve certain things. Although TalkativeTri has done Ubers and T17s on builds without using any PoB, so it is possible, but just knowing it there makes it feel mandatory. I also hope that PoE 2 can solve this to an extent
@@Lolcohol POE 2 does apparently explain mechanics and what things mean within the game which is a start. The wiki for PoE also is kind of mandatory too at least when you start just to find out what things mean or do
I've been playing ssf for the first time this league. I got hard stuck going into red maps but I spent three-four hours crafting and going over my passives. Afterwards I was able to absolutely tear through and get to 16s. I haven't felt that kind of accomplishment since the first time I played dark souls.
This is my first league. I think the biggest help a veteran player can be to a first time player is answering questions in a "this is why this fixes the problem" style. Most of the help I've received has been presented this way, and it's helped me in understand why builds work when I look at them in POB. Now, if you have a solution to me trying to play 6 chars at the same time because I want to try everything, let me know!
My solution to the more characters is similar to this video’s approach of learning. I adapt guides to my character, I prefer Chieftain, and try to fit the build into that area. That way I only level 1 character and just keep different sets of gear for each build. Respect is not too bad, and with gold now, even easier.
I'm surprised that people have been giving you actually good advice. Whenever I see people in global ask for help in global, they usually just get mocked.
The problem (for me) is not that I don't want to get better, but that when finding out how to fix it, means hours upon hours of farming mats to craft (lol.. like I can craft) or buy the items that will fix my issue. If you're not one of the top 1%, you're gonna farm your ass off to create currency. And I don't have that time, and if I do, I rarely want to spend that solely on PoE for a chance to get an upgrade. Too much RNG and too little target farming. I love the game, but it's not a game that values your time.
I used to think like that until i managed to farm my mageblood in affliction (without the juice stuff, coz it was too hard for my character), just doing basic essence and alva. I played for 3 - 5 days a week, 2 - 3 hours a day, sometimes 4 - 5 hours, stayed on 2 atlas voidstone. Then I moved into scarab deli orb after making upgrades to my character. I think choosing farming strat for your character is just as important as the build.
Not valuing your time is crazy.. cause it definitely values your time. Every league you play you will get better and learn more and soon this “1%” won’t be as unreachable as you think. But if you don’t want to play the game then you can just say that haha.
any decent t16 strat farms 10 div per hour. most mid-tier builds are fully functional at 50-100 divines. you dont' have 10 hours? or you want to have something, like a gigajuiced 5 mirror hateforge build for free? 1% of players is something like a mirror per day profits. you dont' even realize what it takes to be there.
@kerch6071 bro if you have to spend 40+ hours just to understand, possibly gimping a character or two, then nah sorry dude it doesnt respect your time. You are so damn cucked. If you love the game cool, but dont ignore obvious glaring issues.
I mean, part of the problem comes when your next gear upgrade costs several tens of divines to take your build to the next level. If buying off trade anyway. The biggest issue is not understanding the crafting systems. Didn't know you could harvest craft resistances into others interchangeably until this league and I've been playing since 3.21.
I have 3000 hrs in this game and I still don't know enough to make a build without a guide. I did however know some stuff you went over. I beat my first uber last league and am going to go for them all this one. thanks for the vid dude.
I think so many players see a build with 50+ hours invested into the build, but then a new players expects to see the same results after playing the same build for only 8 hours. Then say "why am i not as strong? Ive been playing all week" I wish streamers would shed light on how much time as in maps run/mobs slain/time played in game when showing their build. A streamer day 2 build has 20-40 hours invested and a casual day 2 might be 5 maps in.
Quick microtip that i discovered on my own the other day: If you click on one of the categories in the Calc section of POB, it'll keep the popup active so you can roll over it on your mouse. It'll actually show the location of the skills you hover over on the tree. Can be useful if you want to find stray points you want to respec. I'm also glad you explained the difference between "increased damage" and "more damage". That wording always confused me.
I'm glad over the last few years more people have came to POE or started streaming and creating build guides. The old style was a video slide show of all the areas and gear and some game play, then a good luck slide. When path of building came out it was literally game changing, i guess GGG had build of the week but yea, its easier than ever to find a good build and guide.
I think one thing new people don't understand or aren't really taught is to import your in-game build into Path of Building. Open a fresh new empty PoB then choose the Import/Export Build button. You can import using the Character Import option directly from Path of Exile. Make sure your PoE Account is not set to Private, so the import function can see your characters. I've found this helpful to compare my "current" build, particularly in the Calcs section, to a creator created PoB. Wish PoB had better functionality for build comparison but flipping back and forth is still useful in finding those obvious differences.
Not a new player but I'm a newbie to PoB, and I can vouch for that. I had a minor problem because I have PoE via Steam, but got it taken care of. One thing I don't understand is why the functionality of PoB has not been put into the PoE game itself. Nice video by the way.
I had 350 hours in poe before kalguur and had quit around a year ago until this league. I tried it out, and told myself I'll learn how to use POB. Best decision I've made. Now I have a build that cannot compare to any I've ever had before and nearly all the items I crafted for myself. In the video you said it perfectly, you'll hit a wall where its either sink or swim and I definitely sunk. Im glad I was excited for this patch enough to try and get better.
UA-cam Algorithm is on point today. Gently teaching fixed (this sucks, give up, not worth it/can't improve) versus growth mindset (this is an opportunity for improvement), then _showing how to go about that and what questions to ask, and what tool (Path of Building) to assess it with? I put down POE due to lack of time a while back, but seeing encouraging stuff like this makes me wanna go back because this is genuinely encouraging and useful. I admit I clicked this due to the slightly baity thumbnail - "being bad is a choice", like one chooses to be bad... but it's the choice you make when you step away from it, instead of choosing to assess and improve. Good video. Good youtuber. I appreciate the British spelling too (armour!). ;) Gonna check out more of your stuff now. :)
great video. This speaks to a potentially neglected segment of the players. There's one group that are just starting and don't know what gems are. Then there are uber players that trash t-17 maps while chatting during their streams. There is a segment that never got the gear or funds needed for a game-breaking build. Instead that plateau at about level 87 and wither. This is me, and this video is great for people like me. When I last played, PoB didn't exist so this is good info.
God gave me 6 portals and considers its enough. And i wont defy him. Good vid tho, usually its just harder to get along the "what i actually need to do" wibe - like researching whole deal with new armor bases, figuring out and crafting your own phys weapon, or reading whole bunch of scarab descriptions to figure out possible strategies.
awesome guide, exactly what I was needing. Tried to create my own build, on SSF and was not able to find what were people doing so much better than I was, on my bleed glad. Now I now where to start digging, was about to start a new build and follow a guide but will try to fix my own first!
Nice! Also check out the recent video on bleed from ifnjeff - I think that will be an exciting watch for you especially now that you know this PoB stuff a bit better:)
Even following builds, this is important, i remember starting out myself, and so many of the builds i tried sucked, but it was just me not knowing what was important. Might take a league or 2 to understand. But its something everyone goes through. But sometimes a build just suck, and you learn that as you play more, and who you can trust to always have good guides, for those that follow guides, like me :)
I have no clue why I'm watching this when I've been playing this game since ambush league (2014) and already know this all But I definitely agree with the points being made here, ESPECIALLY about PoB calculation. That, too, was exactly the moment I went from "how is this build doing 10x my damage?" to actually understanding the game Very enlightening process I make my own builds. Have been since the start and still do. And now I make uber viable/t17 farm viable builds on my own, but of course it's important to check, compare, and contrast between my build and others If anything I learn so much BECAUSE I don't start with a guide. I start with my build then see where I fucked up. Way better a teacher than taking someone's word for it
PoE has a problem with informing people about what is going on in the game, to the point that 3rd party tools are nearly mandatory to succeed. Personally, I feel that is a problem.
This leauge was the first one i made my first build, i know its not optimum, ik my dmg isnt the best at all, but im tanky, i dont die, i can outregen shaper (who i usually farm anyways) tank hits, lucky block, lucky suppress, something i suggest to new players is build CHONK for your first character, learn boss mechanics, leauge mechanics safely, then do builds that are less tanky, but thats my own personal opinion
Holy Jesus do I feel called out by that title after playing 3 Leagues casually. Alright sir, I use your LS Warden Guide.... I respect this gauntlet that has been thrown at my feet. Challenge accepted. If I get good will you have another Leaguestarter as fun as LS Warden for next League? Like... I'm like the start of act 4(I'm slow and busy) so still on Venom Gyre and Whirling Blades, but holy ballz I'm practically playing a different game than my other builds. I'm zooming and slaughtering things all over the place! I know what they mean by "blastin" now. TY very much for the video guide, POB, and Google Sheets for that build my dude. You been holding my hand. LS Warden PoE> regular PoE builds> Last Epoch>...........>D4
Such a loooong path to learn all of this, yet fascinating like you said, but you can't expect a new player to go through all of this even in one season... At some point you want to play! 😂 But yes when you reached the point where you just want to reroll or do something else it's good to remember that you have a huge progression available. Last league I was at the point that I only rage quited against Uber elder. Let's see if it will be the same this time... or if I will finally just accept to be carried 😂
“This is how you learn POE” when showing the POB calculator just hit so hard. When I made my own build for the first time (from scratch) I used this page very extensively. Before then I had pretty much never used it It wouldn’t be the first thing I’d point new players to. But once they’ve got a solid grasp on the basics: this is the next step. Kinda wish I saw this video years ago just for this reason alone.
Yeah I remember being shown this for the first time a few years ago by guitaraholic(after already playing for several years ) and thinking "oooooh okay so that's why that works like that". It's definitely intimidating but even just introducing the concept is maybe intriguing enough for some slightly more experienced people to dig deeper if they hadn't before
Would you be able to do a deep dive about going through your POB of the LS build and showing how someone would pick out how to fix or improve their build? I have yours side by side with my imported character but I'm not sure if my build is legitimately that far below or if there's just a ton of toggle settings I haven't turned on to apply them into the calcs (like onslaught or something).
As a new player that just started this league I will share my struggles. First of all I play HC and do not trade as I find trading takes out a lot of the progression from the game. I've reached level 95 and kind of got stuck at T16 maps, where I could clear them but not really knowing how to progress further. I know I need to get better gear and farm some legendaries like Ryslatha's Coil but don't really know how to.
My biggest problem with getting my friends into Poe has been that they really just don’t want to read. It’s sad because they enjoy the gameplay but as soon their build hits hurdles and I try nudging them in the right direction they quickly stop caring once they realize it’s time to read or do some basic math
I started in Necropolis and made it to lvl 90 Heiro, i focused mostly on Power that character, and boy was he powerful. But he couldnt survive for shit. It sucked balls dying over and over again. I made my secone Character for settlers league and i put power on the back burner. Its all about Health, and Defense now. Im a Lvl 60 Inquisitor now and have Huge HP Pool, Large Recovery Regeneration, i have so much freaking Armour and currently pathing my way to ton of Spell Suppression/Evasion nodes. And i am on my way to maxing all my Resistances, even Chaos, and im talking even after the act 10 -60% debuff. Im going to become the unkillable. Who cares if it takes a little longer to kill some stuff. I havent died one single time on my way to lvl 60 with my new Inquisitor. The experience on my first playthrough really shows this second playthrough
I am new to POE and been following your build! It is going very well I'd say for a second time run through. This video is excellent. Perfect for a new player as myself to understand. Thanks for all the Help!
Sadly, I don't even know if I am bad. I will just assume I am. Until I somehow miraculously manage to get a connection to the server where the ping does not fluctuate between 200-2000ms randomly, I will just assume I am bad at this game.
As a noob my biggest pain point by far is not knowing what killed me. Hard to remedy a weak point in your build when you have no idea what’s damaging you.
You perfectly described my PoE life in the first minute man. I'm not a new player, just casual. Good advice here. I think it would also be good to show how to make currency along with encouraging them to get familiar with PoB. Currency solves everything in a build.
I feel like my problem comes with earning currency. I want to avoid the "give a man a fish" and gain "teaching a man to fish." I feel that I dont get the enough value of just buying items to fix my problem.
The thing is: you need to slowly ram pu the scale. Over the campaign, you can send some shipment for some decent weapons. Finished campaign with mostly rare gear and a corrupted 6link i got for lile a few chaos off trade. Once you hit maps, my first recommendation is blighted maps. Low tier ones go for like 2 chaos. Anoint with 3 amber, spam Empower 3, Meteor (Fire 4) and Scout (Summon 4) towers, with Physical 3 + Empower 3 near pump as emergency stunlock. Each map gives good xp and you easily earn back the oils and chaos used for the maps. Then fix your gear and slowly upgrade.
But Lolcohol, between my 20 newborn children, 5 jobs and brushing my teeth at least twice every day I don’t have time to read. Now let me get back to farming yellows with my 50k DpS guy for 10 hours without finding any upgrades.
One of the MAJOR issues I've had, and only learnt from literally 3 or 4 guides, is how to actually config the PoB for your build so you're not working off a flawed baseline. Just mindlessly ticking things you see from the PoB you're following is not a good way to learn. We tend to hear that misleading configs lead to bait dps/ehp, but seems like there's too few people who want to bridge that gap in teaching players how to recognise it. Earlier this league, the only way i found out how to get the proper calculations for Hiero Ice Nova (by increasing the frostbolts count in skills) was from an answer to someone in the comments of a random IceNova help thread on the POEBuilds subreddit. Really highlighted how few guides there are on doing what you did here, discussing calcs, the config, how it links to your build and, more importantly, WHY you're config-ing certain things.
The problem is Block of hit point mobs-like the shipping tool in your video Unadvertised one shot mechanics vs MAX ALL defense. Block/spell block 115 all res/Sup/Eva/
Im at that point now...i cant even run red maps..i die and dont deal enough damage even on the crit build with clusters and decent gear with enough life and res. Every yellow monster feels like a mini boss. and every main bosses feels like that pirate boss...I do still miss that lethal pride gem still but beside that its all going to hell...but nevermind it i give up and find another game or some movies to watch
@@Lolcohol i am on ur discord..i know its late night but i will try ask tomorrow again. I even have my pob code ready. Im usualy good ag following guides and copy builds but this time it dosent work out for me.
Whenever I make a build, I try to ask myself a few questions. What skill do I want to play. What class do I want to play it on. What is the end goal of my build. What content can this build do well. What content should this build avoid.
My wall is always that point where I need to transition from maps to farming T16's. And I just struggle to get to that point...until I do, then life is good. But I'm there right now, and it sucks :(
I am stuck on T13s so doing better than me. Sadly trade prices on console are all 10 x higher then PC or item doesn't exists on console. Can't wait for POE2 where PC and Console trades will be linked.
Well, great job, bro. Unfocenetly, i am not so corekt, whel a first person i play, i have absolut not not a POB content. Or somthink. I wish you good luck and good hunt.
My problem is that I dont make much currency outside of leaguestart. I self farmed around 7 mirror shards without ships this league (because they didnt give me anything) and after that I was getting nothing. Everything became expensive and farming less effective. I did heist, because it drops raw chaos. My build is crazy but has low dmg early. If I had more damage I guess I could have farmed more. So yeah...maybe being "bad" is a choice. I also never followed a guide ever, I make my own build, redesign it each league and what not. I remember shakcentral making guides, but at that point I knew too much to follow those.
So long as you're having a good time, you're doing great. When it comes to making currency, do what you enjoy and know what you can sell from running that content. A lot of players sit on huge amounts of potential currency each league because they don't sell what they have. So find a strat you like, do it consistently, sell what you find and you'll see the currency come in!
@@Lolcohol I do expedition consistently and maps drop nothing but coins. If I sell the coins, the profit is abyssmal. If I haggle, I get mostly trash and ocassional divs ( few of them anyway ). I genuinely think nothing beats heist on leaguestart...u have to be a streamer or tryhard in heist for raw chaos. I did the later and converted all the chaos into veiled orbs, tailoring orbs and mirror shards lol. It just felt like I was cheesing the game. Other than this...maps literally dont give anything ( and they are boring to run ). Even mappers are better. So yeah, I think my 400 divs or whatever I have is from investments and lucky drops, nothing else.
Some people have different goals. To most poe players, the campaign is the tedious part. To others like you, the campaign is why you play - the guided portion.
To comment on "it takes too much time to do anything" simply is perspective and understanding. What you think takes weeks and months, people are doing in the first 24 hours of league launch.
@@oopomopoo One example is If i set a buyout price for something why do i have to physically trade the item, just let the person automotically buy the item. It's little things like that that is so off putting. If I have 1 hour to play the game after working all day do you think I should have to spend that time sat in my hideout trading people or keep having to port out of maps/campaign to do so. Or would it be much more fun to have my items sell in the background without the need for more input.
Im always trying to do my own builds but its tough when I get to red maps. I can ask some help and things improve with a lot of pob warrioring on my end aswell, but I Can never manage to create amazing build 😅 maybe one day
"what is the problem and how do I fix it?" the problem is that the build I chose for a league starter has a way too high entry cost for a league starter and to fix it I need basically 40+ div at this point, and in order to farm that currency I need a build that CAN farm that currency with a lot lower entry cost to do so. Said build might have an easier ramp up early on but a low ceiling even with investment so it is perfect to farm that kind of currency but I tried to be a smartass and start with the difficult, higher ceiling but also higher entry cost build early, got buttfucked by it and now I learned my lesson and rerolling temporarily is the way of fixing the issue.
i just can never tell when i'm in the midgame, i just automatically assume that after lv90 i try to improve my gear the easiest ways possible. idk but the game doesnt make it seem like the endgame is feasible; dont get me wrong i love the game thats just one of my main things that keeps me away from doing stuff like ubers
Personally I feel that some times the game gets to a point where I need to invest more time into the game to than I have/want to, so that I can progress. My main aim each league is to complete the atlas, as I feel that is within reach of the time that I can put into the game. I would love to do Uber Maven/Eater/Exarch/insert-end-game-boss, but I simply don't have the time to farm crafting materials, learn what a god-tier craft is, etc, or even earn enough currency to be able to buy the gear that I need. Maybe one day, not at the present however.
My biggest issue as a new player I struggle to tell what exactly is killing me. I'm playing boneshatter jug with 80k+ Armour ,maxed resists/chaos and divine flesh and I still struggle to figure out what random debuff is ending me.
I'm trying to learn sanctum rn, completed my first one, but it only level 70 and I'm level 90 lol. And it's hexblast, mostly geared. Some of the boss fights in the game are hard and you can't tell why you're dying. My tip, record gameplay or watch all the fights UA-cam before you do them....
I played my build in affliction and could afford it. I gave up on my build this league after getting frustrated with how long it was taking to make 500 div.
I believe the best approach to learn PoE is to learn one thing at a time. People get overwhelmed by the complexity and the number of different systems in the game, usually because they try to learn to many things at once. PoE requires you to calmly learn one thing at a time. Make sure you really learn and understand whatever you're learning and once you really understand it, move to the next thing. This applies to gems, systems, PoB, etc.
Big caveat is if the build is meta. Making my own builds there are very obvious limitations to dark marionettes or Vaal storm call. There are ceilings to skills at a fundamental level.
@@GE_Photon_Lord no some builds just struggle with certain content just off the basis of how they deal damage and their scaling factors. I played with dark marionettes all league and dumped 4-5 mirrors into the build before quitting but its map clearing speed will never be as good as Death’s Oath. Lightning strike does not struggle because both the way it deals damage and scales is very strong even to the point where slotting in defensive layers is easy. See where I’m getting at?
@@gamefuler You can still map with it...and why are you comparing it to a walking simulator?? My cold dot has both clear and dmg issues and I do all content every league. Plus deaths oath is a mapping build, ofc you cant compete with that unless you play a mapping build yourself.
@@GE_Photon_Lord that’s what I’m saying. There are limitations to how strong a build can be in certain aspects but meta builds can do everything with maximum efficiency simply due to the fact of how they deal damage and how they scale. Glad we finally see eye to eye
@@gamefuler Not all meta builds can do all content with max efficiency lol, idk where you got this from. Molten strike sucks for clear and nukes the boss + its immortal. It still has a flaw in it despite being meta.
Well I suck, I got stuck on tier 10 maps. I am up to 13 tier maps still stuck but getting better. I do play on console, seems like I cannot sell anything so I should of just played SSF oh well haha.I will get to end game just gotta keep chugging though and fixing issues.
Console version of PoE is garbage. If you aren’t good at crafting and spend a lot of time farming hours and hours on your own, it's a waste of time. The trade is filled with bots and RMTers that’s why the prices are so out of whack. I made the mistake of starting my first playthrough on console and regretted it very soon, then switched to PC and it was much better experience - the prices are usually not as out of whack.
@@Venvaneless Yeah, I played on PC a long time ago and I remeber it was alot better, but I have issues with using keyboards on my wrist so I use controllers exlusivly now and manily console. I got to T16, but I am having issues with all the final bosses. Sadly any updates for my build are 30 div each atm only got 15 raw div and prob 70 div worth of scarabs if the prices are right but none will sell but what you gonna do. Also trying to buy scarbs at 4 x the price of online to do any statergy makes profits hard. I guess T16 isnt bad but hoping I could beat everything before POE2 comes out because I prob wont come back to the console after though game.
@@richardmenz3257 with the Auction House from Faustus you can liquidate pretty much any currency immediately the moment you put it for sell, including scarabs. You can sell even 1c divination cards. Try it! The only thing, keep farming for gold as using AH for selling costs gold! I can make you a deal, since I don’t play PoE currently and probably won’t for few months, you can use my account and fiddle with it a bit? I have almost all stash tabs too and like 20 divs from when I played a witch which is lvl 80. I planned to respec her to Cold BV, but due to private issues dropped the league before I could do that. Would that help you?
about build guide. good build guide for new player will alway have leveling step. 1-20 20-40 that kind of thing. and even better one have gear recommendation in that section as well. and even better if they note how to find or craft that item for cheap. also beware of some bait build video and pob. the easiest way to notice is configuration page on pob. they will tick almost everything that make you stronger but also tick everything that make monster weaker. that will make your dps super high on paper but garbage in the game. im RF fan so i will just suggest you try pohx RF guide. just spend 10 minute actually read what he put on pob and you good to go.
borrowed power, pob, my friend just started playing and he told me that ubers are super easy... yeah without minmaxed buildguide that faceroll every single boss he would be struggling with kitava at the end of acts
Mine is almost always damage. Any time I try to craft my own build I cannot hit a million damage on POB. No idea what I’m doing wrong. I make really good tanks though. 🤷♂️
my problem is not feeling lucky, i'm 3 days playtime into the league and i only made like 20Div, tried every possible way to farm. but hey! im enjoying the league at least! and there is like 3 months left... so yeah no problem.
Lol being bad is NOT a choise 100% . Reaction time has nothing to do with one being bad. Reaction time is needed in this game . I mean i mostly fail endgame content because i use all my portal . I freaking KNOW i need to move when i see animation and hear certain lines, im just too slow sometimes ! Not a choise :)
I fully appreciate your points. Maybe you are getting a bit stuck on the wrong reason people are getting sick of POE or they are going somewhere else. Now that D4 and Last Epoch are there to play we now have direct competition to POE and that has been interesting. Firstly I want to say I didn't even get through the campaign in this POE league. I can skip it in D4, why can't I skip it in other games and I have finished the POE campaign many, many times. Secondly, POE has not made any of the information you are talking about easy to understand. Even players as seasoned as you or Zizran use Path of building to get your figures and understand your builds. You might say that D4 is more arcady but at least it isn't trying to completely overcomplicate the systems in the game to a point where you need at least a year worth of game time to begin to understand the systems. I think the simplest way to say this is that the devs are not respecting the players time. I played EVE online and its a similar problem. POE isn't a game, it's a second job. (Howzit from JHB!)
Lol,biggest problem of newer players is that game isn't rewarding enough early.I don't mean by huge amounts, but it should be somehow enough to help you progress. This is the biggest issue imo.
Taking damage is my problem. I spend about 40 or more to solve my hexblaster issue and I cant seem to solve it. I cant do t17s and Im looking at another build
Not all builds can do everything. For T17s, take note of which map mods you're rolling and if at all possible, try to evaluate what is killing you and try to fill those gaps in your defences. But trying new builds is also a great way to learn more about the game :)
opening up path of building just made me ask more questions, where are my weapon stats in the calc screen, playing LS warden in the style of the old elebuzzsaws of yesteryears, and i am doing 1 to 45 lightning damage when my weapon has t2 light (t1 fire, t3 cold with 2.02as so i know it isnt the weapon) should i just be getting as much flat elsewhere?
There are just too many other games i want to play with my limited time - being bad isnt a choice, my choice is not earning a university degree just to understand and get gud, plus more importantly the AMOUNT OF HOURS you need to invest to not be bad, is not worth it for MAJORITY of gamers, I play 2 or 3 hours a day, but there are other games i play and want to play, like elden ring which ive just finished etc. Hell even in Diablo V - YOU CAN SKIP THE CAMPAIGN after completing it once - Jeez replaying the acts in POE is a tiresome repetitive chore. You sink how many hours into this game? this is not the only game out there, and if it takes years to get gud at a game playing an hour or 2 a night, there is a problem with the game.
And i can expand on this more - I am able to get gud at elden ring, sekiro, Diablo, LE, RL with limited time investment - POE is just silly in these terms

Resist and Life on most rare pieces is a solid early step that will be enough for yellow maps at least. Afterwards, another defensive layer like Spellsuppression is very nice to have.
a good example is during the acts I was struggling because I couldnt take hits but my damage was fine. The problem is I was using a melee skill to apply spell damage and so my damage was essentially melee range. I decided to switch to firestorm to fix this issue and once I got to maps I switched to my proper build which was using a melee skill to channel and cast other spells (and my weapon triggers spells on hit) the same problem came back up, I'm not very tanky. I got mind over matter and 10% chance to recover 10% of mana when I use a skill and now half the damage I take went to mana, fixing my death problem. (10% in ascendency) I also had gotten leech es early on. eventually, I started to die a bit more and being lazy as I am, my res was still barely above positive and we dont even talk about the -60 chaos res. after a while I got my res's up and stopped dying as much. I still had chaos problems but that was a future me problem. I was doing delve and kept dying to corrupted blood as I had 10 on me. I out healed the damage when there was mobs but being delve, I kill them all and then died to it anyways. so I bought a cb immunity jewel (with other useful rolls) I decided to replace some of my other gear like my level 12 boots and level 35 amulet. I now had -21 chaos res and that was good enough for me. I now only die because im too lazy to dodge and if I cant tank everything then I die and that's why im stuck at level 96
I clicked on a different guys video that was a guide video and he just insulted me for ten minutes. It was a very weird guide. This one's nicer. My goal has been to master the ranger and I'd say I'm getting there slowly. Luckily I haven't needed a build guide cuz I enjoy the torture of endless learning through failure. I finally started to succeed which was worth it.
I can’t figure out what’s changing my projectile appearance with Vulcan for ls. It’s suppose to be balls but it sometimes looks like axes like this intro why?
I’m really struggling with sustain right now. Playing zizarans gladiator bleed SST build. I think I have all my resistances capped, max block, good life regen, 90% phys reduction Then I fight certain map bosses maven I just take some huge hit and either regen super slow, sometimes I just drain life really fast and can’t figure out how to stop it.
Most of the time its because you don't read/underestimate map mods. Be sure you have life leech somewhere on your gear and vitality. You also get quite some regen with endurance charges
bad take. I want to make a flicker strike poison build, but it just doesnt work T_T. The investment of frenzy charges is too much to make it functional while also not being able to invest into DoT enough
i solved this version of flicker once, i believe during ToTA league. problem is, my solution to this was soulthirst belt, flask duration increase, rampage, so on, allowing insane atk speed = insane poison ramping. well this league, they Completely. gutted soul thirst

"inside you there's two paths. They're both stuck in T13 maps"
-Sun Tzu
If I could only make it to tier 13. I am stuck at about 6.
Hell I'm a veteran player in a crisis of faith on my build and you inspired me to research more instead of complain
Hit me up bro - I have nobody to hit up to help me rush - I enjoy the game but I despise act 2-3

Ive been playing all week"
I wish streamers would shed light on how much time as in maps run/mobs slain/time played in game when showing their build.
A streamer day 2 build has 20-40 hours invested and a casual day 2 might be 5 maps in.
casual day 2 is still on the story lol
After a while you can tell how long things will generally take just by glancing at the pob. If needed, calc the items via trade site / craft of exile.
That's true! Yeah I should have mentioned that. I'm sure there will be some better form of comparison function in the future :)
I really hope poe 2 has some sort of POB in game.
Awesome guide. I usually stuck at ubers due to lack of damage, that will help me a lot.
I appreciate the British spelling too (armour!). ;)
Gonna check out more of your stuff now. :)
great video.
Perfect vid. Thank you. Please do more in depth.
Keep rocking the scarf!
:D Thank you! It's so coooold
awesome guide, exactly what I was needing.
@@Lolcohol awesome, sure will! Specially since I know very little on melee and bleed mechanics, just hopped on the melee hype train this league hehe
I play my own version of hardcore: I look up a guide, delete my character.
Really great topic. Excellent video. I’m sure this will help many.
I have no clue why I'm watching this when I've been playing this game since ambush league (2014) and already know this all
But I definitely agree with the points being made here, ESPECIALLY about PoB calculation. That, too, was exactly the moment I went from "how is this build doing 10x my damage?" to actually understanding the game
Very enlightening process
I make my own builds. Have been since the start and still do. And now I make uber viable/t17 farm viable builds on my own, but of course it's important to check, compare, and contrast between my build and others
If anything I learn so much BECAUSE I don't start with a guide. I start with my build then see where I fucked up. Way better a teacher than taking someone's word for it
PoE has a problem with informing people about what is going on in the game, to the point that 3rd party tools are nearly mandatory to succeed.
Personally, I feel that is a problem.
thank you ser ;) your explanations were super usefull, thanks a lot brother :D
But yes when you reached the point where you just want to reroll or do something else it's good to remember that you have a huge progression available.
Before then I had pretty much never used it
It wouldn’t be the first thing I’d point new players to.
I need an AI to do all of my build management. I don't have the will. It's just too much of a chore. I'd rather suck forever.
83 deaths @ lvl 91. btw thank you for enlighten me on the dmg calculation. i can see where the part im lacking now
My biggest problem with getting my friends into Poe has been that they really just don’t want to read.
My problems is I have to work 😅.
This!
I am new to POE and been following your build! It is going very well I'd say for a second time run through. This video is excellent. Perfect for a new player as myself to understand. Thanks for all the Help!
n00bs rise up!
I love how you culculate all of the defences together 🎉
You perfectly described my PoE life in the first minute man. I'm not a new player, just casual. Good advice here. I think it would also be good to show how to make currency along with encouraging them to get familiar with PoB. Currency solves everything in a build.
Pretty bold thumbnail sir
yes , good , nice ( sadly many guides have +2 corruption or hard stuff to get you hands on , yet they say [ eazy - best build ! ] )
Real gamers get dentures and have the kids raise each other to minmax div/hr
Lots of good tips in the video but I don't know if I would recommend a new player to try and figure out calcs tabs
The problem is
Block of hit point mobs-like the shipping tool in your video
Unadvertised one shot mechanics vs MAX ALL defense.

@@Lolcoholyou can’t help with bad RNG unless you just give the players above garbage items.
You get good by not playing because no matter what you do they will take your fun from you !
Whenever I make a build, I try to ask myself a few questions.
What skill do I want to play.
What class do I want to play it on.
What is the end goal of my build.
What content can this build do well.
What content should this build avoid.
My wall is Soul Eater. I roll my eyes at Chris "Feel the weight" Wilson and run past it to finish the map because I am not a single target build.
that cassia remix at the end tho
The wall I hit is after the campaign I don't find any purpose to the game. It takes way too much time and effort to do the simplest of things.
the actual game starts after campaign, hence the fun of it, try tinkering around and see what ur build lacks and aim for that
Some people have different goals.
I can ask some help and things improve with a lot of pob warrioring on my end aswell, but I Can never manage to create amazing build 😅 maybe one day
"what is the problem and how do I fix it?"
the problem is that the build I chose for a league starter has a way too high entry cost for a league starter and to fix it I need basically 40+ div at this point, and in order to farm that currency I need a build that CAN farm that currency with a lot lower entry cost to do so.
I e only seen a few guides and build info that address that most player won’t be getting endless 6 link and rare drops.
i just can never tell when i'm in the midgame, i just automatically assume that after lv90 i try to improve my gear the easiest ways possible. idk but the game doesnt make it seem like the endgame is feasible; dont get me wrong i love the game thats just one of my main things that keeps me away from doing stuff like ubers
Last epoch's death recap is irreplaceable for my git gud in that game. Wish poe had one
I really struggle to get all the physical damage reduction, spell suppression, and immunity to certain stuff without losing some of my build
For ailment immunity I just use Stormshroud. If you need a cheaper jewel in the beginning there’s Firesong that functions similarly.
90% of the time if you're being one shot ,its from crit or a particularly rare really high rolled damage hit
I'm trying to learn sanctum rn, completed my first one, but it only level 70 and I'm level 90 lol. And it's hexblast, mostly geared. Some of the boss fights in the game are hard and you can't tell why you're dying. My tip, record gameplay or watch all the fights UA-cam before you do them....
i leave because the grind isnt worth it or the juice isnt worth the squeeze
I played my build in affliction and could afford it. I gave up on my build this league after getting frustrated with how long it was taking to make 500 div.
I believe the best approach to learn PoE is to learn one thing at a time. People get overwhelmed by the complexity and the number of different systems in the game, usually because they try to learn to many things at once. PoE requires you to calmly learn one thing at a time. Make sure you really learn and understand whatever you're learning and once you really understand it, move to the next thing. This applies to gems, systems, PoB, etc.
Guess i'll stop hording some of that 100+ div in my stash and get some upgrades. I've spend a almost a week in lvl 92, lmao.
Big caveat is if the build is meta. Making my own builds there are very obvious limitations to dark marionettes or Vaal storm call. There are ceilings to skills at a fundamental level.
You can fix the caveat with currency. So no, you dont have to play meta at all.
The problem is I play too little to make enough currency to buy those big upgrades.
borrowed power, pob, my friend just started playing and he told me that ubers are super easy... yeah without minmaxed buildguide that faceroll every single boss he would be struggling with kitava at the end of acts
Mine is almost always damage. Any time I try to craft my own build I cannot hit a million damage on POB. No idea what I’m doing wrong.
I make really good tanks though. 🤷♂️
you didn't explain how you are supposed to see your own character in pob.
I haven’t done it, but I think pob explains how to do this where you are importing your link. Just type your profile name in and hit start I think.
I had a feeling spell users were going to struggle playing attack builds this league.
I always end up with a lvl 90 ish hitting the wall in yellow maps with full res (except chaos) and 3k life, always the fcking 3k life
I think the avoidance you were looking for was Block.
my problem is not feeling lucky, i'm 3 days playtime into the league and i only made like 20Div, tried every possible way to farm. but hey! im enjoying the league at least! and there is like 3 months left... so yeah no problem.
Boom! Exactly, the devs don't respect the players time but if you say it on any forum you get torn up.
@@deathmauler181 Yeah and thats is also so annoying, they won't try anything else and they will swear everything else is terrible!
Lol,biggest problem of newer players is that game isn't rewarding enough early.I don't mean by huge amounts, but it should be somehow enough to help you progress. This is the biggest issue imo.
there comes a point in everyone's poe career when you just want to listen to some poe meme music!
And the amount of external tools you need to play this game - Come on man - POB, Trade sites, Item price checking sites. nah dude
W comments and accurate. If it wasn't for covid I'd have never played the game
Awesome video! Thanks!) very helpful) i'll try to get personal build in this league - video helps)
/deaths post your result here. The higher the better
Check out the last stream highlight video where we did some crafting: ua-cam.com/video/ciGn_8A7cUI/v-deo.html
177 at lvl 94. Missing chaos res and last points of spell suppress. Also standing still too much.
121 at lv97 on holy relics necro. hc was never an option for me.
474, level 98.
I need eco guide like this one. 1.5 week grinding every day and only half way to mageblood =(
275. I throw myself at the problem until the problem is no longer there :)
Should my first focus after the campaign be maxing out my resistances and suppression? And what is the easiest way to do so?
Rog crafting is the best way to cap SpellS and res early on
Resist and Life on most rare pieces is a solid early step that will be enough for yellow maps at least.
Yeah, but no.
Just find a Mageblood.
Then you're good.
Fantastic :D also please let me know what the other video was because that sounds hilarious
Does the leveling trick from 3.24 still works in 3.25?🤔
I can’t figure out what’s changing my projectile appearance with Vulcan for ls. It’s suppose to be balls but it sometimes looks like axes like this intro why?
I actually have no idea :s I haven't noticed that before!
May sound stupid but you go "oh you learn everything by going to this tab called Calc", how do you even get to that?
