Hi!, Ball from the vod here, really wanted to thank emongg for the vod review and everyone for their kind words in the comments. I started playing overwatch when it got added to steam and I've mainly been playing ball since. It's been around 2 weeks since this vod and I'm currently hovering at gold 4 and slowly climbing (hopefully)
As for the vod itself, I have a feeling the bap may have been a smurf doing some kind of a unranked to gm support with no healing because while they weren't healing at all, they were REALLY good at doing damage (at least until he got mad and started afking) but i can't say for sure since his stats reset after the 2 rejoins.
I completely missed the stream this was recorded on so this video jumpscared me when i opened youtube this morning lol, it made my day and I just really wanted to thank emongg again for the amazing vod review and everyone in the comments giving me additional tips on things to look out and their kind words in general
well done on the win, whatever the reason the bap did it shouldn't have done it in a comp game ruining it for the 4 other people on the team. I doubt he was doing a unranked to gm because you would actually be looking to win games not throw them by leaving the game repeatedly or going afk. this is the worst type of smurf if he was a smurf (he might not be and genuinely believe that was how you played bap) we did not get to see his pov in this video so. I would go get the code for the game to check but I know that this was done before the patch today so its probably unwatchable now. Either way your team did really well and best of luck for the rest of the season.
@@megayikes9716 I just checked back on the replay and now I'm even more confused. the bap started afking and completely throwing on the second round (10:00 in the video) right after the first disconnect which was way before anyone said anything about reporting them (replay code is 8TD11X) So now my guess is that the bap is a smurf who had his fun on attack and throws games on defense to stay in the lower rank??

@@Pxyie It's possible the guy is just trying to stay in lower ranks or deranking himself to sell his account (Believe it or not, lower ranked accounts sell for streamers who want to do bronze to GM etc) or he has a friend he wants to carry out of a lower rank. Either way, you did awesome on Ball and deserved the win regardless. Enjoy the climb, if you're this good from only a few months of playing, I'd hate to be matched against you in my ranked games in the future xD

I think they belong in silver lol, they never transferred shields 90% of the time it would be good to use it and they kinda just ran around doing nothing, yes he stayed alive a lot but couldn’t capitalize on it well
theyre playing on asia servers and from my experience playing on na australia eu and asia servers silver on asia is about 1 rank higher than eu 2 ranks above na and about the same as australia . i agree they will climb if they play more games especially given the circumstances of this game with the bap

I have a feeling this guy is one of those supports that watch way too many "educational" unranked to GMs that hammer into their heads the classic "it's support, not healer" and think healing, at all, is healboting
@@pepekovallinthis guy was clearly throwing and trying to mess with his team. “Teehee im only damage no heals” is a classic example of someone saying they don’t want to win despite it being a valid playstyle legitimately.

As an avid support player, no mattter how upset I get at playing this role sometimes, I would never do this. It honestly just feels like disrespecting your entire team and the role in itself.
I don't do it constantly on comp, but honestly, I'll stop healing the other support while I'm support, because they'll refuse to heal me. "DuUuUrR, YoUrE sUpPoRt, yOu HaVe SeLf HeAl"
@@curliousoakshield2889 yeah i kinda get that. to be honest it's been a while since i touched overwatch so i'm kinda out of touch with the updates from like... 8 months ago, but yeah if they don't heal you, they deserve to not be healed by you either, plain and simple. things like that should go both ways in my opinion :) totally don't blame you!

The enemy team switched to Cassidy,Sombra,Brigitte because ball was harassing them all the time.
One of the best Wrecking Balls I have ever seen, imagine him diving with a good Sombra/Tracer/Reaper/Kiriko/Lucio comp, this team would be really awesome.

That’s always an ego boost when I’m on Doom. As soon as the other team swaps Hog, Sombra, Cass, I know I won the mental game already.
I going to be honest most people counter swap because its easy to do than the enemy is that good. Like if I'm running tracer and I see ball I'm chasing after him, not because his good but because I know I will win that duel 9/10 and I'm the only one on the team apart from sombra to go chase him. If I see doom I always play cass and proceed to dunk on the enemy doom player because I know it easier to do that than playing a hero like sojourn into one also I like playing mcree more than soj anyways (I actually don't like soj at all but mcree sucks against orisa, muaga and sig so I just play meta if I can't pick tracer or don't feel like playing hanzo/sombra), so if I see a enemy team run doom and I'm on dps I actually get pretty happy because I don't have to play soj. countering is extremely easy so me switching do to what their running isn't that big of a deal in a comp game. I honestly do believe there shouldn't be so many hard counters especially on a tank v tank matchup but that will never change in a 5 v 5 format
this is also bronze/silver so I kinda expect them to take 5 mins to switch to sombra when in a gm game that switch will happen after first fight.
Edit: actually that switch would happen instantly in diamond and masters too.
nah it literally does not matter, ive had games as ball where our team is getting hard diffed and they still counter swap me out of spite. People just hate ball.
@@cagxplays9602 not really hate. I counter swap not because of hate, but because it is a mechanic that the game gives. But of course, counter swapping is not everything, you actually need to know how to use the heroes, because if you don't then there is no point in it. I'm a sombra/venture main, I've had entire lobbies counter swapping me, and sometimes they end up doing nothing. Might as well stay with your main or just change to another hero you feel comfortable with, it might make a bigger difference than just trying to counter swap for the sake of countering.
Also, counter swapping must be kinda strategic, because if you're trying to counter ball as sombra, but the rest of the team is brig, Mei, cass then you're not actually bringing any value to the fights

I saw the enemy team defending on the high ground and I thought it wasn't silver. I certainly haven't had a team do that in gold.

Bronze = Chaotic messes
Silver = Sweaty lobbies.
Gold = Casual lobbies.
Plat = Sweaty lobbies.
Diamond = Casuals lobbies.
Masters = Sweaty lobbies.
Grandmaster+ = Randomness, Sweaty, or Casual
Could be an ego vod. I'm a plat Ball with diamond 2 peak but I could show you some of my best games on Ball and you would think I'm at least master. Also if you saw my worst you'd think I'm bronze.

I had a tank on my team do this the other night. Dude was on Orisa face tanking a turret form Bastion with a discord orb and just falling over and then cried about heals. He was being hard carried by the rest of us & I told him that and to just keep getting carried and he AFK’d in spawn. Then started spamming all chat saying “if I’m being carried then why are y’all losing?” Not the sharpest tool in the shed.

If you’re tank is a doom/ ball one trick they’re not switching no matter how hard they get countered.

@@kimoshi7785 only way to get good is to push through the bad games. Most one tricks in low ranks have chat off because they know people will throw a fit.
So, I’m starting to learn Doomfist after being (basically) a Moira one trick for a year, and what’s interesting to me is how often my supports will give up on me.
Now, I’m not brave, or stupid, enough to take my baby Doom ways into comp, but I do like to play Quick Play because it is mildly more competitive than, say, arcade or vs. AI. I’ll be the first to admit that 1. I’m no Doomfist prodigy and 2. Doomfist is hard. He’s a hard tank to play with and support (I sympathize; remember, I was a support main beforehand) and, yeah, depending on the enemy comp, or even how I’m feeling or playing, I have my games where I’m struggling. (Baby, remember?)
Despite that, if I’m starting a game out badly, my supports will just stop healing me. And I’m not one to typically blame supports (unless I’m lightly picking on a DPS Moira, Bcs I feel like I have a right to critique, lol), but MAN, is it frustrating! I’ve had games where I just had a bad start, but felt that I was improving mid-game, only for my supports to stop healing me so I can’t make any space, and we lose. I never realized just how tough it is to tank if your supports aren’t supporting, which has given me more sympathy when I’m back on my main role.
…but even in my most DPS Moira moments, I can’t imagine not healing at all. Not only does it help with ult charge, it also helps with, well, support! Tanks can create space, and it’s worth it to look after a DPS who is popping off. Games go waaayyyy smoother if you are trying to enable your teammates, especially if they’re willing to table you back.
As a mostly support player myself, it is also tanks such as Doom, Winston, Ball, who have to dive into the enemy, responsibility to be able to dive OUT and get in a position to be able to get heals. I don't give up on my feeding tanks in the way of "no, I'm not healing you." I just stop following them into the enemy to try and help and also get rolled. In that case, I just look at them leaving the team behind (who is usually fighting the enemy that also infiltrated the backline), use the "come here for healing" voice command, and then I'll heal them if they return to my line of sight (I'm usually Ana). So, I don't straight up refuse to ever heal them, but I do refuse to run into the enemy without protection so they can get healed and then I die too. If you as the tank can make sure your backline/supports are safe, then I as your support have no issue walking forward a bit more to help keep you alive.

I think you have this backwards. Play ranked. You have literally no reason not to as far as I can tell. You make it sound like you're unranked on tank. It's purely upside to play ranked. I literally can't even work out what you believe the downsides are.
Also, I'm pretty sure this whole idea of the your supports not healing you because you started off badly is all in your head. Dive tanks can be hard to heal sometimes. I bet that's all this is.
Dive characters are my favourites, so this is a tip that might help a little bit. You have to be aware of the LOS of your supports. Playing dive constantly gets you out of their LOS a lot.
Also, you have to understand that you need to sustain yourself most of the time. Learn where the health packs are, and learn your limits, how much you can last inside a fight with no help, especially when your team comp is not dive. You will not always get a pick. It's about going in, make some damage, and get out. It's about harassing the enemy team as much as you can.
With dive heroes you must manage your cooldowns a lot and learn how to cycle their abilities. For example, a tech that works a lot with Doomfist is to go in with Seismic Slam, make damage with it, shoot a bit and get out with Rocket Punch. That's the way you cycle your abilities until there is an opening and you can do your combo. Venture for example works exactly the same.

one other thing they could improve on is grappling a bit higher when applicable. they often grappled nearby walls to roll towards those walls bc enemies were near them (like at 18:16), where it would've been better to grapple high, roll through the enemies, then either piledriver, or reposition easier. not always the play, ofc 180 fireballs are a thing, but if you're not gonna 180 fireball, just stopping there in front of the wall is almost never a good option

Do you think they were mad the other support picked Briggite because it usually means the Baptiste would have to heal more, not realizing the whole point of Briggite is to keep them alive?
IF I KNEW I would have submitted my experience with a player like that. In Gibraltar our Lucio said he wanted to troll. We got to 3rd point, enemy team barely moved from spawn, I was with my team and he was the only random, idk how someone like that even gets to a diam/Masters lobby because he had 1k dmg and 0 heals, and the only time he used beat was while jumping off the map... If you're wondering about the other support, it was me, on Mercy, with just 10k heals lol.

@curliousoakshield2889 tbh everytime someone in my games gets Mercy they pocket the tank so I end up typing "how did you get to diamond without knowing you have to pocket the dps??" Lol. I only help the tank if they're alone or the other support needs a second hand on the heals, if necessary, during ults. Sometimes if they're too low to heal back up, I just wait and rez lol.

Why is it that, in all replays like this, we (the spectator) are on the enemy/red side? It is so counter intuitive. It must be some design limitation, im sure, but if thats the case, how it hasnt been fixed? people just live with it? I think it is a Quality of life change that is a must.
It depends on what you start as. Attackers always start on Red. Ball’s team Attacked first so they’re red. For KotH or Push maps it depends on what Spawn you have first.
It has to do with overwatch’s coding for identifying teams. Every player gets assigned Team 1 or 2, based on which side they are. On the player’s side, they will always see themselves as blue by default, and enemies as red (the colors are changeable in the colorblind settings and a lot of people use it for aesthetics). Since the game only caters your color to your client side experience, once you get to a replay, it just places the colors that Team 1 and Team 2 would have according to what the system organizes it as, since anyone can view a replay with a code, and the game doesn’t know who it should flip the colors for when spectating.
There’s very few instances where being Team 1 or 2 (Red or Blue) matters, the only ones coming to mind is Lucio rollouts on certain maps being harder or easier depending on which side you spawned at on KOTH maps, and a couple inconsistent spawn points highlighted in Marblr’s recent video.

I had a baptiste like this once, not in comp but in quickplay. Did not really care that much at the start or as soon as I noticed it because it was quickplay. I was just annoyed that I was playing on Dorado attack. My least favourite thing to do in overwatch. We managed to cap the first two points (mainly because my duo and I were the highest rank in the lobby on dps so we were just popping off) with 6 mins on the time clock. We than proceeded to get spawn camped as a team for the next 6 mins because our tank just blew up whenever he stepped out of spawn feels bad. I just remembered watching our bap in the kill cam sitting next to the other support who just needed one shot of healing to be ok and not do so at all instead just keep laying down damage. I went of voice chat and said "if you going to do damage thats fine but at least heal your other support," because as a support player its like support101 to heal your fellow support, He than typed in chat Its not my fault that we sucked. my guy was 6k damage with 11 elims and 16 deaths with just under 1k healing. Just a comparison our tank player was 16-15 (dont remember his damage) and mine was 36-9 with 13k damage. I was like we sucked because you refused to heal our tank and he said in response "I like damage" and that was what set me over the edge and I was like to my duo after the game "I'm going to play minecraft have fun". I actually saw this guy again in my quickplay games on my team because I don't use avoid teammate thing unless their extremely toxic. We won those matches with him doing the same thing mainly because A) I tend to just not care what happened in previous matches B) it wasn't dorado attack. I can carry anyone that is playing this completely trolly playstyle as long as it was not dorado. At first did not recognise him till I noticed he wasn't healing me or anyone else and I mentioned that I played with a similar bap that was just like this and he turned around and said he was the same bap. We actually had a fun time just bantering around going on how useless he was and he turned around going like look i killed X after kill stealing from me. Might not sound like it due to how I remembered the Dorado match but we were flat out just joking and laughing in voice chat. Of course that wouldn't of happen if I spent 6 mins waiting in spawn on my least favourite map or in comp. But to win games even in comp game you must have the right mentality which is a lot harder said then done.
He looked really good for a Silver Wrecking Ball! But also, it's Hammond, so I'm not sure if this is actually good or bad because the only comparison is Chazm :D
I was playing a game in gold, and one of my dps started trying to flame our wrecking ball (probably just because they weren't seeing them around). But I had noticed our ball was stalling point forever, so I defended him. Thankfully, that dps player was just frustrated and not a bad guy, so he refocused and complimented our ball when we won. It was a nice experience.

15:20 ish doesnt even have to cart piledrive mine anymore. This point could easily just hook the ceiling, retract up, and do it. One of the things i notice with my lower rank friends is the rush to do something, when they have time to do the right thing. Kind of similar to point 1 def here, my friends will panic for touch when the cart is 15 seconds away from checkpoint vs 5 meters. Sometimes less is more.
This wrecking ball was fantastic. Now I want to go play it lol.
Didn’t start ow2 until late season 9. Ball is my most played hero. Once you get the basic tech down he’s so fun to play.
I like the differences in emmong compared to flats commentary style
Flats just know how to roast and way of speaking is like that old teachers in movies that like to criticize and brag about your mistakes, but has no notion how to make you get a better grasp of things / or has no natural teaching way of talking. Its about ego.
Emmong on the other hand, pauses, gives his point, comments on what the dude do good and what he could be better without boosting his own ego, there is a good teacher instinct there. He is mostly impartial, and talks in a way that the person will listen to his words and take some notes.
This is a good difference, at least one that me as a teacher, appreciate more
People want to get roasted by flats. That's why they post their codes in the discord channel for the roast series. It's more a difference in style of content than didactics.
As others replied, people submit their vods to get roasted by Flats! In general, Emongg is more 'educational' than flats in a sense that even on streams while playing ranked he explains his thought process to chat.
Oh well I didnt know that there was masochists like this on the internet lol😅
Still, even with the difference, flats sounds tô me MUCH less well rounded in his Speech and educacional process than emmong, even considering the content aspect

I don't get this. I'm a terrible hamster. But if I even touch him there pops up a sombra, a mei, a reaper, a brig, a ana. And I literally can't even roll across the road without getting slept, hooked, hacked and walled off.
Trick is to let your gameplay be a slow burn.
Boop the support out of los or keep people busy, let them miss their cooldowns and get out for a bit.
The enemy won't pick up on what's happening as fast because they see in the kill feed that it's other heroes doing all the killing.
Sometimes it's way more fun to be annoying than destructive

Guys, i have a question that it is entirely unrelated to the match and gameplay. Why is it that sometimes there are people with kanjis in their names. Like this happens to me sometimes, i boot up the game and if the first match has people with kanjis in their names then all of my matches will have them. Like if i was on a weird server. And it mostly happens like in this match, one in one team, and two in the other one. I have to close the game and booting it up again to make it stop.
Does this happen to anyone else? Anybody knows why this happens? It has had me oretty intrigued for months now, because this started to happen to me a few seasons ago. And I'm always in the american server, I've checked it out when this happens to me

Lmao ive been a masters ball player since ow1 and ever since the buffs i have literally falled to plat. 6 games in a row no exaggeration my dps went negative against rein. Is rein meta between plat and masters????

Edit: Which is still shocking but what's more shocking is he totally could have climbed to G4 since this submission.
@CzechDownX the rankings around silver gold are very inconsistent right now. I need to play more to equalise, and people have told me I can play at a plat level but the way you go on massive losing streaks followed by boring winning streaks is just not fun to play.
Over like 25 games since the reset I went from silver 5 to gold 4 now back to silver 2. And at no point was it not a win or losing streak
@@CzechDownXhe commented and said he climbed up to Gold 4 since submitting this game, so he most likely was silver. But yeah, he’s really good. I know before I did comp I played a lot of quick play, so I understood my character by the time I went in ranked games. The ball gives me the same vibes to be honest.

And then cry and complain because they are going to report you for throwing by not healing and then throw even harder. Absolutely pathetic. support is called support because you are supporting your team by doing damage, using abilities, etc. moria supports by doing dmg and she regains her healing by doing so, and bap assists with dmg too. lol
@@itskingsavagebaby it’s kind of suggested in the name “support”. Their damage is supposed to be supplemental, not primary… 👀 dps’ primary objective is damage, support’s primary objective is healing, tank’s primary objective is damage absorption/mitigation. Cry about it.
