This song was written before we had jet airplanes, rockets, computers, satellites, refrigeration, air conditioners, TV, and when phone booths were on many corners in big cities.
Thanks Andrew. it's not bad but I might have another go in a few months when I've got the hang of it a bit better. (Finished transcribing it today and starting work on your Blues for Jimmy Yancey tomorrow.) Cheers.
I don´t think so. Boogie woogie and barrelhouse piano comes out of the blues, it was very popular in the 1930s and 40s. Albert Ammons, the composer of this piece, was born 1907. Wild West saloon music would very likely be based on bad renditions of popular songs heard in the East Coast cities and, at the end of the 19th Century (and the Wild West era), ragtime, which draws a lot from the European romantic and post-romantic piano music. The instruments themselves would be rather similar though, perhaps even more beat up and out of tune.
Fantastic ❤

Hi Cliff, have you transcribed Dr John's version of Pinetops Boogie?
Afraid I haven't transcribed my version yet - but I think there is a transcription at bluespianosheets.com/
Isn't this the kind of music they play in Wild West movies when the characters go to a bar?
