Every one speak about Gangulys captancy...but they don't speak about his outstanding achivement as a batsman ..India's one of the greatest batsman ..
His captaincy was great, his odi batting was great, but his batting in tests was good not great. 7000 runs in 100 plus test is good. To be great you need to have scored atleast 10000 runs in test also after having played 100 tests

@param cheema vvs laxman has also scored around 8k runs not 10k, similar stats for Gilchrist as well! steve waugh and chanderpaul both has played more than 160 tests and mostly have batted at 4 not 6! Had vvs and ganguly played at that order there is no doubt they could have scored more runs than their respective numbers! Though i believe at that number it's a great achievement in itself to score more than 7k runs with more than 15 test centuries! Dada surely was a great test player as well!

Harsha Bhogle is always so balanced with the interviews. Not only he knows the cricketers very well, he asks good questions, is always polite and humorous but never condescending or brown nosing.
He also has an almost encyclopedic knowledge of cricket. He knows more about it than the so called sports analysts. An absolute gem to the game of cricket.
He let players speak n don't interrupt in between unlike other hosts
Rahane is technically sound. This shows how Ganguly picks players and back them. Imagine players like Sehwag Yuvraj being lost like Rahane. Ganguly made careers of many. Extraordinary captain.

Given the circumstances, and the tough cricketing environment, Ganguly is a far better capatain than even Steve Waugh. But gets lesser credit because cricket fans/experts dont know that its the toughest job to captain India.
Ganguly pulled India from match fixing era and built a team which not only won games, but produced champions and idols, which made sure we keep getting new champions like Dhoni, Kohli, Rahane and Ashwin who wanted to emulate these idols.

The best captain ever. I hope the selectors watch the part about Ashwin and doesn't push him away from the test squad like they have done in the ODIs. Kumble was also in the similar stage of career when bhajji started doing well. But look how well he came back since the 2003 series against Australia and went on to captain India. Ashwin is also similar and will do well . Please don't drop him from the tests in favor of Hardik and the likes.
Hearing dada makes me feel that there is so much that need to be analyzed, so much that need to be improved and so much that can be thought and discussed about..he is such a wonderful orator may be because he thinks from different angles and perspectives..

Kohli should back rahane. He backed rahane and now rahane captained ind to that epic aus series win.
Ashwin must be backed. He has been backed now ashwin has scored a century in a turner, played one of the best defensive knocks in australia and is the second fastest to reach 400 wickets.
Kuldeep has also been backed and played a test after 2 years.

Best analyst of the game. His analysis about the current fast bowlers is spot on. That is reason he was the best ever test captain for India. His passion to win the test away from India and instilling the self belief in the players were two great things will never be forgotten. And most importantly he completely eliminated the regional bias Indian cricket which ruined the Indian cricket till he took over as a captain.
Batting quality has also gone down quite a lot. 95% of Batsmen across the Cricket world in test cricket are only scoring runs at home and flopping overseas barring the likes of Kohli, Smith, ABD, Williamson, Amla and Rahane etc of course.
