Like almost everyone else in Fromsoftware games, Malenia is one of the most misunderstood bosses ever. After the Golden Order and the Greater Will cursed her and her brother (her with Scarlet Rot and Miquella with a body that never ages past childhood), she swore herself to battle for as long as her body will last to bring about Miquella's desire for a world free of the Greater Will. There's a reason she was left at the foot of Miquella's Haligtree, she's her brother's defender, and anyone who dares try to harm her brother better get her intro monologue memorized because she will carve it into the brains...and everywhere else on their body for that matter.
There's a lot of parts to her character. A lot of people see her releasing the scarlet rot as her being a poor loser. It was a lapse of judgement where she threw away her pride and dignity and sense of self to win a battle that she couldn't afford to lose. If you complete Millicent's quest, Millicent will give you the golden needle that held the scarlet rot at bay. If you give that needle to Malenia's bloom, she will in turn give you Miquella's Needle, which is the only way to reverse the Frenzied Flame ending once you've set on that path. It's an unusual act of compassion by Malenia to ask you to not fall under the influence of other gods, but be your own person. If that's really her character, it's easy to see why she was so beloved by Miquella and admired by many others.
Took me so many replays to notice that if you pause at 0 seconds , you can see the hole where Miquella's Egg was originally, and on top of it the wood makes up the shape of Miquella (You can see the torso, the arms, the head with a nose and mouth and the wavy root hairs). Kinda makes sense too considering Miquella embedded himself in the three to try and break the curse where he could not age, so maybe he was slowly making a wooden body for himself or something, but the process was stopped when the cocoon was stolen by Mogh... That or maybe the entire tree grew from Miquella's body...
Malenia made me so sad because on my first try I almost killed her easily (I had a +10 Dark Moon GS), so I leveled up a normal weapon and faced her like a man. That didn't go so well, so I had to go back to the being OP strat
So I met her yesterday. Went nuts with my heavy armour, boulder hammer big bonk. 1 dash, 3 slashes and I became sashimi. She just made reservations for my entire weekend.
I might hate this fight, but do you know what? Fuck, if she isn't cool. Her whole scene, her dialogue, the way the mechanics on the prosthesis work with the sword? So damned cool.

I don’t play Elden ring or any souls game. And suddenly this malenia only UA-cam videos got me so attached that I felt an urge to play it very badly. One of my best friends is a die hard souls fan and last week he told me “I’m at Malenia, wanna try?” After 10 trials I got the grasp of waterfowl dance thanks to UA-cam videos, after some more trials I killed her first phase. And here I am wishing to go to his place again to try and kill her completely
Isshin is easier for me than Malenia. I did Isshin in 30 mins while Malenia is like fighting Isshin while stuck with the slow DS combat system, I must have spent at least 2 hours on Malenia. But Isshin is a better fight for sure, probably my fav souls final boss fight.
@@scharlachnachtfalter1900 that’s what i meant. On paper, isshin should be harder with all his move set and having to deal with 4 HP meter. But because you have the skills to match isshin which makes the fight an even battle. While malenia feels like you are fighting with a handicap even though she has less moves than isshin. If you fight malenia with sekiro, i think she won’t make it five minutes.

Most like her because she’s strong. I hate her because of what she did to caelid and Radahan. Radahan is by far the best, most selfless character in Elden ring. After you learn his story, you don’t feel like the hero anymore. Man just wanted an honorable death….
From what I gather, the entire Shattering was a mostly pointless war. Malenia probably went to Caelid in order to retrieve her brother Miquella and ended up crossing paths with Radahn. Him being so strong forced Malenia's hand in the matter and ended in their mutual KO. I get the sense of tragedy for all involved, no matter who they were or what they wanted.
Fun fact, Fromsoft always intentionally makes the player character smaller than the enemies because it's easier to see what's happening on screen when the player isn't taking up half the camera.
She's not, but from what I've heard she is basically one of the toughest (if not THE toughest) boss in the whole game. Seems nobody has beaten her yet, which explains the total absence of Phase 2 videos.
She was a good fight, not too hard, six tries, still ways to go against like, O'niel (39 tries). But it's the design, the atmosphere, and my first death was atleast she charged impaled me mid air the moment the fight started, that was the game putting me in my place 🤣
Nah, it was a draw. She was left critically wounded by Radahn, but Malenia infected him with Scarlet Rot and turned him into a savage mindless beast while also turning all of Caelid into a wasteland. Neither of them won that fight.

In my book that's called a loss Though I wouldn't dispute that in losing the battle she did win the war (I mean figuratively, since her armies were forced to back off and are no longer present in caelid for the most part).

Most like her because she’s strong. I hate her because of what she did to caelid and Radahan. Radahan is by far the best, most selfless character in Elden ring. After you learn his story, you don’t feel like the hero anymore. Man just wanted an honorable death….
From what I gather, the entire Shattering was a mostly pointless war. Malenia probably went to Caelid in order to retrieve her brother Miquella and ended up crossing paths with Radahn. Him being so strong forced Malenia's hand in the matter and ended in their mutual KO. I get the sense of tragedy for all involved, no matter who they were or what they wanted.

Fun fact, Fromsoft always intentionally makes the player character smaller than the enemies because it's easier to see what's happening on screen when the player isn't taking up half the camera.

She's not, but from what I've heard she is basically one of the toughest (if not THE toughest) boss in the whole game.
Seems nobody has beaten her yet, which explains the total absence of Phase 2 videos.

Nah, it was a draw. She was left critically wounded by Radahn, but Malenia infected him with Scarlet Rot and turned him into a savage mindless beast while also turning all of Caelid into a wasteland. Neither of them won that fight.

@@Cat-yo2mb he doesn’t need to win in order for her to be defeated, the mere fact that she couldn’t overwhelm him is already a defeat in and of itself.
The fact that he survived the blast whereas she got KOed and had to be saved by Finlay is the other reason to call it a loss for her.
