Half Blind Horse Spooks!

I really had no idea what I was going to be dealing with when I accepted to work with Mayfair. Her story was that she was a spooky horse to begin with, but manageable. After she got an infection in her right eye, she started going blind, despite all the efforts from the owners with medication and vet visits and follow ups. After she lost her eye sight, she started exploding and bolting sideways at random times. The owners tried to work with her and help her understand that there was nothing to worry about, but struggled to get the message across. So I started with some basic checks, and as soon as my flag moved a little, she turned from a docile lovely horse, to a horse that looked like a dinosaur was after her. We worked her through her issues, using a logical build up of exercises until she would lunge on both sides without an ounce of worry, even though I was constantly touching her and flagging her while on the move. She really is wonderful, kind, sweet and trusting mare, and I am pleased that we were able to get through to her.
