    Was super frustrated with my inconsistency on this trick and I decided to start from scratch on heelflips one day doing all your suggestions (weight thrown back, upright stance, shifting to heels, pop from a full crouch, maintaining the crouch, aiming for the nose) and I had them with such consistency and clarity that I was super surprised. I wasn't even trying to do the foot hanging off thing but when I committed to putting everything together my foot started naturally doing it. I would be so scared that they under rotated because they were rotating slower than usual but they always completed before I came back down. Definitely the most in control I've ever felt on a heelflip.
    I haven't had them that consistent since that session but every time I try to emulate those steps I get closer to landing them how I had before. Accidently landed a 90 degree heelflip (due to a consistent shoulder throwing problem I have during heelflip flicks) with my feet hanging past the board and it felt so natural with how fast it came up to my feet and how gently it landed. This is definitely the way.

      Thank you for sharing this. I’m happy the tips helped. It’s a lot to have in your head, every try. But, it starts to click and works. 👊🏾

    Ive never really struggled with flatground but i find it hard doing any of them in transition.

    • @NormanWoods
      @NormanWoods  3 місяці тому +3

      @@LameBalsam whole other strategy for that. I’d say start in really mellow transition. Figure out the best time to pop. For me, I have to pop just before I start rolling backwards. Too soon, and I land in a deck check. Too late, and the board falls behind me. Steeper the ramp, the harder to time.

      Might be a mental block. Before I figured it out, I was afraid of going up stairs, because of the distance. But I realized the distance isn’t too hard to overcome, and going up is easier than over.

    • @NormanWoods

      You’ll get there. It takes some playing and figuring what you’re not doing, or need to stop doing. But it comes with practice.

      @@NormanWoods Yeah the first try went pretty bad. I just gotta start trying again. I think probably dial in my speed more than just “fast” to get a good pop. Even I tend to rush tricks, I gotta look into what I’m doing further. Maybe start recording my efforts. I can’t always tell what I’m doing wrong in footage but sometimes it’s pretty obvious lol

      Try pumping into the bank. Helps project you forward. This is a pretty common struggle.

      @_marcus_payne_-2356 3 місяці тому +1

      I had the same issue for years. I don’t know if this will help for you as everyone is different but it changed everything for me. This is for Ollies, Heelflips and kickflips. I usually have my feet just below the front bolts when doing tricks on flat, but for some reason I decided when positioning my front foot to do Ollies kickflips and Heelflips up banks, I covered the first two of the front bolts. And I don’t know why but instantly the tricks actually felt controlled. And like I said earlier, I struggled to pop out of banks for years. Until I tried this. Give it a go and see what happens.
