- Manuals are very tough at first. So, I had to take my time and try to remember what they were like to learn. In this video, I’ll give you some pointers, that helped me learn to wheelie.
Let me know which tricks you’d like to learn in the comments. Thanks for watching.

It's important to mention is to jump just high enough to get onto surface with your wheels. The higher you jump the harder it will be to land and hold your balance on rear wheels, same as with grinds and slides.
So bend your knees, jump, land with your knees bent just high enough to get into manual and the rest should be easier.
Poping tricks out of manuals will largely depend on the balance you get and the strength of your legs.
This is accurate. Similar to grinding rails, if you Ollie to high, landing and controlling is nearly impossible. I should’ve added that in this video as well.
Been skating 10 years and these tips are gonna help man can't wait
Best video I've seen on manuals. Thanks, Norman!

Manuals are the ultimate patience test. I’ve learned if you are in a bad mood, just save it for another day
So true! I’ve given up many-a-day.
This is so true
I am so happy to land my first Ollie to manual on flat and on the pad. I did it after watching this video and following some of the steps.
The only thing I changed was:
Before Ollie to manny, I did like “no pop” Ollie to manny, with just a little tail push. This step helped me gradually getting the real Ollie to manny.
And I also tried doing Ollie to manual stationary while holding to wall.
Congratulations on getting your wheelies! Thank you for sharing this. I’m always hyped to hear about skaters learning new tricks. Tag me on Instagram if you got a video.
Need a nose manual in depth tutorial.
the santa monica courthouse clip was insane
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Haha! I like how you said you are not the best at manuals then proceeded to show us a video of you kickflip onto a super tall stage, land into a controlled manual then 3 flip out. I can only dream of doing that trick! That stage is insanely tall, I can barely ollie on top of it on a good day
It’s just relative. I had people with much better manny skills in mind. I do my best though. Just like everyone. Filming parts just makes you very critical of your skillset. Hard to shake that mentality.
Manuals are my all time favorites🫡🔥🔥🔥
Manuals are great foundation for building balance and board control. They naturally translate into clean 5-0's and nosegrinds.
My 5-0 got so much better, when I learned to manual well. Used to balance them, tail wouldn’t even touch the ledge.
Good video norman! Always a pleasure to watch.
Thank you 🙏🏾
Great video and a yes to a nose wheelie one.
Really appreciate this. Looking forward to trying out these tips!
Stoked on this

On the back porch working on some manuals, thanks Norman🤙🏼😎
Get it 👊🏾
Another great video. You give the best skate advice on UA-cam. Appreciate all that you do 🙌🏿

cocteau twins tee 🔥
thx!
perfect timing as I wanted to get locked in on manny's next
I've noticed the body has a natural reflexive impulse to land on our toes but a manual, especially the nose manual requires you to land even toe and heel almost flat footed which feels very unintuitive. I really like your idea training with a fence to hold onto first because that will condition the body feel comfortable into the unnatural position required to hold a manual.
DUDE! This is one of the hardest parts of flipping into mannys. You want to land on your toes. But that makes it tough. It’s not so hard, for me, with just Ollies in. But flipping in, it gets annoying.
Appreciate you bro! So sick to learn from one of the best, always looking forward from your content/teachings 🔥
What's your favorite Cocteau Twins album? Mine is Blue Bell Knoll. Great vid as always.
Peppermint Pig, lately. But it was always Garlands. I love their entire catalog though. Even when she started singing tones 😂
Can you do a flip trick out of manuals, tutorial?
I’ll get to this one. Might be a bit though.
hey i think you put the wrong desc
You’re right!
What's the difference between Normal manual and a nose manual because both tricks don't work the same way
Nose manual is on the nose. That’s a separate video. Balance is very different for each of them. Nose is easier for me.
The shoes can affect the way you skate that’s a fact brother
Such an unfortunate fact. I’ve had a couple of run-ins where bad shoes had a very negative consequence.
