@@shinybeast8946 No, again, I think most people get that it’s a practical impossibility to listen to everything, so when someone refers to or makes a list of “songs of the year”, it’s understood to be limited to the ones they personally have heard. Now, I like this song and I left a nice, positive comment here about it. I’m baffled as to why anyone would take the time to shit on it, but here you are. Who hurt you?
I'm so happy that MJ Lenderman is blowing up the way he is. He's amazing man; wonderful human being and folk artist. I first heard his song, "Someone Get the Grill Out of the Rain" and have been hooked ever since.
I saw him a couple of months back at someone else's show. Had no idea who he was but ended up enjoying him more than the band i went to see. Hope he has a massive future coz he deserves it!
I first heard this song at a show Lyons, Colorado…there was late summer golden hour sun, a mesa on one side of the creek and a meadow on the other side where the festival was. My six year old son and I were on a stroll through the food area to plan out dinner and he heard this song. He grabbed my hand and ran back to where he could see Waxahatchee playing, along with Jess Williamson. He stood there transfixed until he grabbed my hand again and ran back to my spouse. She picked him up and spun him around in that golden sun. My nine year old daughter leapt into my arms ready to dance. This is a core memory for me that shined up again when I heard this on the good ol UA-camr. I am so happy for Waxahatchee getting a gig on Colbert. Thanks for this memory.
Lendermsn’s harmony on this is the best piece of musical creation I’ve heard in the last five years. Absolute perfection. Reminds me of the best parts of Son Volt or the Jayhawks.
he's kinda doing that thing where it feels somewhere between a melody and this kind of ghostly background sound (impossible to describe, but so beautiful)
Song of the year so far for me! The performance was too busy and had way too much going on though. I wish it were sparser, the album version is a perfect piece of art. Can’t wait to hear more live performances though!
If you knew what you were talking about about youd be making music people listened to, not commenting on people who have actually succeeded in the industry.
It's a mix issue, not a tone issue. The pedal steel and two acoustic guitars were eating up all of the good frequencies and whoever mixed this for broadcast didn't back them off during the solo. There was nowhere for the electric guitar to poke through without going super shrill. Whatever tone he had on stage would have worked fine for the solo if the engineer(s) wanted to emphasize the solo.
@@KevinL-fo6xe I know exactly what I'm talking about thank you very much. My comment is simply a compliment to the excellent solo on the recorded version.
really don't understand what people like about this song. it's fine as a deep cut on an otherwise great album or something but I don't know I keep trying and don't get it
LENDERMAN PUT ON HIS NICEST FLANNEL FOR THIS OCCASION
Dress flannel- 😄
And matches the Caddo Lake backdrop.
Waxahatchee, MJ Lenderman, Spencer Tweedy and a couple of Twin Peaks dudes? This a super group fr.
for real!! So stacked
lmao
Wow.
Eliana Athayde y’all
Saw clay and Colin and almost passed out
This is the song of 2024 so far. Just beautiful.
Really? You have heard everything have you?

It's my absolute favorite
So at the end of the year, you will have listened to everything? I can"t wait to hear your list. LOL@@stevecarll

MJ Lenderman hive rise up
OMG...why am I so obsessed with this song! This thing is a spell of enchantment or something...dang

Keep writing. You painted a perfect picture.
This harmony reminds me of Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings. Sounds great!
That's exactly what I thought the first time I heard this
Her timbre reminds of Edie Brickell, too.
Didn’t think about until you mentioned it, but I hear all that. Really good tune.
I felt it has that same effect that Gillian Welch/Dave Rawlings has for me.
Recommend a song?
So much talent, her new record is amazing.
Very nice.
I like her voice and her songs.
Thanks for showcasing this cool band.
You're welcome, anytime
Not really a band. Waxahachee is a music project by singer Katie Crutchfield
Real fine! I notice Spencer Tweedy on drums? Asheville's own Jake Lenderman, too! See you all soon!
I'll be there! Driving up from Charleston and absolutely can't wait to see her at the Orange Peel again!
WesternNC here.❤
Man they sound good together.
So happy to see Katie doing so well and getting the recognition she deserves! Love this girl!
AHH THATS MY COUSIN. I LOVE YOU JAKE

This belongs in the alt-country chain started by those folks

Incredible song and shout out to whoever mixed this
Insanely good mix
Great performance!!!
damn, she sounds great live
Yeah this is record quality - the band is really tight.
The new record is amazing. Can't wait to see Katie in Detroit!
I love their voices together
Breathtaking ❤
I just love these guys. Lyrics, melodies, singing.... St Cloud is one of my top ten albums.
This song is amazing... it's been on heavy rotation on my play list since it came out.
I love Katie, her songwriting and her voice! This record is as beautiful as St Cloud. Can’t wait to see her again in May
Had to rewatch this performance! Beautiful song ❤
Dang! I love this song so glad she performed it!!!
Holy crap, this is great.
Amazing. They are perfect together
‼Twin Peaks Mentioned ‼
MJ the goat
What a collection of talent! Great vocal and harmony, nice use of the pedal steel throughout and nice sound in general!
Hard to believe Katie and Allison are the only two angelic voices in female country music from Alabama. ❤
Such a great performance - the new album is fantastic 🎉
Hell yeah, music is still alive in the South!
Bravo. smooth as silk. Love this song.
Thank you, very enjoyable 😊
Colin Croom is really playing with everyone it’s awesome

waxatchee is my fave living song writer so amazing
An amazing song and artist! So glad she's finally getting to be known on a larger scale.
I love her voice
Love seeing Colin and Clay on stage no matter who they're playing with. So much talent.
Is Clay from Hazel City band? What's his last name?
@@michaelfstratton Yeah from Twin Peaks then Hazel City. Clay Frankel! Such a cool dude.
Pure, fabulous and lovely! Waw🎉🏖️💝

Luv it. Saw it on Colbert last night.
Didn’t realize they had new music out! So good, yay

Fantastic.

So good.
Great song, great performance
Shadow Plaid would be a great name for a band.
Gorgeous
Killer! Love it
Absent mindedly watched this on full volume but because I'm newly into the song, I didn't even realize till the song neared its end
Very very cool...
Weird fucking harmony. Love it.
hell yeah
muito bom!
KC pretty outrageously good here. Wow. Beautiful stuff

😍
2024 album of the year Grammy winner , heard it here first .
Best album I've heard yet🔥🙌
That was fucking beautiful.

Nice
She is a goddess
This is the first song of Waxahatchee's i've clicked with. Are her others songs similar?
Yep - she’s incredible. Her album St Cloud is a good place to start - Lilacs is one of my favorite songs of all time. This new album is great, too
@@smarroy Thx for the rec :~)
I keep wondering when you are going to have Sierra Ferrell, and AJ Lee and Blue Summit on.
Real musicians playing real instruments. How refreshing.
I'll just settle in
I thought for sure I misunderstood the group's name.
Hello !
Wax on wax off . Bomba Bomshell hatched from nothing to something to everything and stuff and stuff .❤❤❤❤❤
is jeff tweedy's son the drummer?????!
Great performance but I’m surprised Colbert let Jay Leno’s outfit on his stage. 😂
is that marshall vore on drums?
I think it’s Jeff Tweedy’s son Spencer
Gesundheit
😅
i farted into a big beatiful bag of crisps
mj is not playing that damn guitar
right?? not even remotely the same chords as katie
Could've used a different tone and more volume on that solo though...
For sure needed more volume on the solo

Do they even know that KRAFTWERK already happened 45 years ago?
The fuck has Kraftwerk got to do with it?
This has to be the dumbest boomer comment I've ever seen.
🤔
I believe they do. But, have you bought yourself a boat?
first thing that comes to mind when I think of new indie country is Kraftwerk :)

Taste is subjective, but this is a well-crafted and lyrically relatable song with a warm and comforting melody :-) Hope this helps!
