Lyle, We lost our home in the Altadena CA fires so some money is heading my way. After I'm settled I'm going to buy my Corvette ( or Cayman, still on the fence ). I'll be 70 in May and have wanted a Vette since we sold our C3 back in 1975. The last part of your video hit home. Like you said, "Nobody needs a Corvette" but tomorrow isn't promised. It's been a lifelong dream.
Lyle I believe this is the most moving video you have ever made. Since I was a child in the sixties I dreamed of some day owning a Corvette. Now I have a beautiful C5 and I feel even more privileged to own one of these purely american sports cars. Thanks for what you do.
It’s now ! Just turned 59 and as you know I just bought my dream C5, a 1999 FRC garage kept in pristine condition with only 19k miles. Love it. Put nearly 500 miles on it in just 2 weeks. Ironically you mentioned about paying more per month! My current plan which I’ve put on an Xcel spreadsheet: I’ll be making an extra 20% (about $100) payment every month plus a one time $1,500 annually in July, it will reduce my loan by 26 months and ill save about $2600 in interest over the life of the loan. A total of almost $10k in balloon payments. Also have a high yield savings account setup for $100/month automatic deposit. So I’ll have $1,200 annually saved up for maintenance issues because shit happens and something will need replacing. Before I found my FRC about a month ago I had 2 options: Save up for a larger deposit and buy a C5 next spring/summer OR wait until I retire in 5 years and get it. Lyle you’re spot on, tomorrow is not guaranteed and NOW was the right time to fulfill my 5 year passion of getting a C5 ! Lyle , thanks for all you do for the corvette community!
I didn't go through that much red tape. I just HAD to buy the C4 that fell in my lap (driveway) and took out a loan from a shark with fmia connections. She may have cost me an arm and a leg.. but this car is WORTH it! I am mostly happy that she has power steering as well as an AUTOMATIC transmission. It comes in handy these days.
Absolutely SPOT-ON !!! I’m 62 years old. Financially stable. And have been in love with the Corvette since I saw a yellow 73 being delivered to my neighbor. I was 11 years old and the lines on that beauty left an impression on me all the way to the present! I’ve owned a couple in the past but have been eyeing up C6 ZR-1’s on UA-cam for years.
Got a big grin on my face when you mentioned turning back to look at your car after parking it. I finally pulled the trigger on a C5 last year. So happy with my purchase and you nailed it, tomorrow isn’t promised. Glad I have had a year to enjoy my C5, and hope for many more. Wonderful video.
This video really hit home with me Lyle. The last point you made where tomorrow isn't guaranteed is what my mother said to me 3 years ago while I was having a cup of coffee with her. She knew since I was 9 I wanted a corvette and would never let it go. She told me that while I was able to enjoy it go ahead and buy one. Especially since I had a company car to drive during the week. I will never forget the feeling when I signed the paperwork with her sitting next to me and then finally a week later picking it up with her in the passenger seat. That feeling for me will last a lifetime. I still remember the amount of looks we got driving the Vette back home while everyone in their Falcons and Commodores were sitting there and staring in envy.
Amen Lyle, I bought my 1st vette in 2001 at 27, this spring I bought my 13th. I've owned a C3, three C4's, three C5's, four C6's and a C7 Z06. My dad told me to wait for retirement, I'm glad I didn't listen. Long live the Corvette and the childhood dreams that come true once you buy one!!! #dontwait
I purchased my first Corvette after my wife passed away. I was 77 years old. It was an 87 C4. Two years later, I moved to Florida and left it to my eldest son because he helped me find it. I found a new wife and was experiencing Corvette withdrawal. She helped me find a 96 Corvette, and we try to go for a 45-minute to an hour ride every week. I'll be 83 this June 19th, and we both look forward to every trip in our C4 Corvette. 😊
I was able to buy my C5 Z in cash and that makes it even more a better experience. When you own it, less stress and more enjoyable. Whatever car you want, I agree if it is within your means, buy it! Tomorrow is not promised to anyone.
Bought my Z cash too at 19! Was it smart? Heck no. But the fun and memories a year and a half into ownership are totally worth it. It’s needed a lot of work and I’m currently rebuilding the whole top end of the motor [lost a lifter and came across a melted piston :( ] but I’m going to throw it back together this week and fingers crossed I won’t have any major issues for a while. But I probably will because I drive it to it’s limits regularly
@@QUIKSIX1 just got her back together and she drives! Have one or two things to correct that I messed up but besides that’s it’s crazy to have been holding a piston in my hand yesterday to driving it around the block open headers making the neighbors happy today. I’m real tired but I’ll see if I can get it fully done before work tomorrow
I am in the market for my first Corvette. When I was 16, my stepmom’s stepdad let me drive his brand new 2004 Corvette Z06 to the store and back. Since that day, I have ALWAYS wanted an 04 Z06! Now, I have a REALLY good paying job and so does my wife. We are financially responsible. I need a Corvette 😂
In 2017 I was looking for a vette, I ended up finding a 2014 Mustang GT/CS with 14,000 miles for a very reasonable price. 2022 I was looking for a vette and ended up finding a beautifully kept 2017 370Z for reasonable price. I have been looking for a Porsche Cayman since the beginning of the year and this last week found a 2 owner 2003 Anniversary Corvette with only 11,000 and never been driven in the rain, finally got my vette.
“Less of a machine ownership experience, and more of a love affair…” Myyy Goodness! If that’s not one of the truest things I’ve ever heard and felt! Boom, you nailed it brother💯
I'm going to sell my c5 because I am getting older now. It just turned 110,000 miles. White coupe, all the good options. Clean. Never been in the rain since I owned it. Driven every week for a hour. 2002 garage queen
Thanks for this video.... I just turned 72 and have enjoyed my "economical" 1993 C4 for 5 years now. It was my"bucket list car when I retired 6 years ago and fully appreciate your comments !!!! Keep producing the videos for us "senior citizens".
Best one yet! Just turned 70 in good health. Your videos on Corvettes made me sell my 2020 Civic "R". Got a C6 base coupe 2012 Paid 40k but with only 9,000. Miles. Best FN car I ever owned! Thanks
Lyle…your dealing the straight scoop…one of my biggest things with cars is that if you want to keep it nice, it cannot be parked outside 24/7…even with a good car cover. If you can’t garage your Corvette (or other car you really car about) expect it to be destroyed by the elements. I have neighbors with three car garages who have so much junk in them they have to park their brand new cars in the driveway. Within a few years it really shows. The rubber starts looking like it’s rotting, clear coat starts to fail, and the interior suffers. Thanks for all the good advice you provide for us!
Lyle, you really hit home with this vid. I leased a new 92 C4 in the & turned it in 5 yrs later, but always wanted one more. Bought my C6 last year (with the invaluable help of your vids) at the ripe old age of 70. Knock on wood; I take care of myself, am in good shape & work out intensely, but there are no guarantees! I almost misted up a little at the end of the vid. This is why you're one of those people I'd most like to have a beer with.
Awesome video. I’m 51yo, got 3 kids & the youngest has 1 more year of HS aka me & the wife are about to be empty nesters😂😂😂😂😂😂According to your video it’s Vette time. Mid-life crisis activated 😂😂😂✌🏾
Thank you for your honesty about Corvette ownership. On my third. At 67. Own a low miles C-5. First was a 1974 350 4speed. Had a 455 TA, with a trailer hitch. Was actually more fun to drive and would run away from the Vette. Second one was a 1986 high mile car that I had next to nothing in. Now I have the 2004 C-5 and a Silverado pickup. Good combination and the Vette's more fun to drive. The truck is way more practical.
Good info and sage advice, Lyle. I’ve had four Corvettes over a 50 year period; I owned them when I could, and sold them when I needed to. Be responsible, but don’t be too shy to pull the trigger. I have no regrets about having enjoyed those cars and wish I had held on to that ‘58 ! I’ll never let go of my ‘04… 😊
In December 2021, I bought a restored 1967 L79 Coupe (a 3-time NCRS top flight car). And I freakin LOVE it!!! It’s my first Corvette and it’s a blast drive. My pride and joy!
In January 2023, I bought a 1996 LT4 torch red red vette with 24,900 miles for $17,500 with a slightly bigger cam, cold air intake, x pipe and aftermarket exhaust out of Arizona. I never regretted it for a second. I happy as a pig in shit.
I've had my 2008 C6 for a month now and I really enjoy it! You bet that I baby it, too. It's at 29 years of age and I've loved the Corvette since I saw one in 6th grade.
Real talk Sir. I noticed in Michigan, where we no longer have normal seasons, Vettes are higher in price than in the warmer States. That is sick. Nowadays there's only 4 hot months in MI so one would think those used Vettes would be priced lower.
LYLE, best pricing hands down late fall 100% I purchased a rare 2001 C5 Convertible quick silver - torch red interior- white top only 34K miles last November 👍
I can't imagine what might make your car rare, but I'll take your word on it. I never sweat the color on a used car, and wound up with a black convertible, which can be very pretty. But I do think a more visible color, like a silver car, has real safety advantages in a world awash with SUV's and drivers using their phones.
Just bought a 2015 2LT Crystal Red Tintcoat with 21,000 for 50k. Previous owner kept car in absolutely pristine condition. I’m 61 and this was a lifetime dream of owning a Corvette. Every time I start it up and drive it away I become a Badass all over again. The feeling never gets old. I should have bought it years ago. Don’t cheat yourself. You only have one life to live.
Got my first Corvette this year right before I turned 55 as a reward to myself for paying off my mortgage. It’s a 1 owner C6 in Monterey Red with 15K miles. Garage kept never driven in rain CA car. Pristine even with original tires. Sometimes I just stare at it.
kind of nice to listen to a man who has built a life around work he enjoys, because such a realization of life's possibilities is rare and wise. The rarity is evident from all the angry people running around so prominently today, and the non seriousness of their choices clearly indicates that critical thinking is a useful life tool. Despite what is clearly the most beautiful body style of all the corvettes in the background , I would suggest that the ultimate realization of a pleasure car is an open car, making the convertible the ultimate expression of a corvette, if anyone was wondering. Modern city traffic has taken a lot of the luster off of that position, but once in a location where driving is pleasurable , the concept becomes self evident. Besides being in a position where people outside the car will talk to you inside, one of the other features never realized in a closed car is being able to smell the different varieties of trees or the meadow grass when driving on a mountain road. I am not a hard core gear head, I just have accepted transportation as a need and enjoy well designed machines, which lead me to the almost practical corvette. I consider my C5 as a suitable platform to financially support through the years. It serves my needs as a fun car to own, and a modern car , while offering less required owner involvement, would only offer me more advanced creature comforts and electronics , since I don't desire more speed or buying more gas. Don't get me wrong , the earlier cars have fantastic top tier styling, but put next to the car in the video, might only come off as "cute".
I commend you on your presentation, your commentary on these cars is wonderfully authentic and heart felt. Such poise and articulation. Keep up the good work Lyle.
OH MAN!!! You couldn’t have said it better in those last five minutes. That was EPIC and totally cool. Thanks for your hard work and dedication to the Corvette community. I always look forward to the next video. 😎 When I get back down to Florida (September) I hope I can stop by the shop to meet you and also take you to a place you recommend for some good drinks. 😎 🍸 🥃 It would be my pleasure. 😄 Have a great weekend.
Thanks Lyle, great video! And all 100% spot-on the truth! Just turned 71, and just sold my beautiful '89 convertible. Owned it for 8 years and got the Corvette fever 'outta my system', at least for awhile. Will I own another some day? Who knows. But I know it was a blast to own and drive all that time, and I have NO regrets whatsoever. Thanks for all you do!
Lyle never seen your channel before, liked, subscribed, and now commenting, hope it helps you bro. I’m about to turn 66, I make decent money and don’t have any debt. The things you’re saying I’ve been arguing with myself about lately. Forever wanted a Corvette, or a 69 Camaro, or a57 Belair. Goofy in the big scheme, but mortality can’t be evaded. I’m waiting to see your next post, and hear your wisdom.
Wow! The last concept of our immortality also is what impressed on me a few months ago to jump on a perfect packaged 2008 c6. At six decades, I knew it was time due to a health scare. The time would never be better. No guarantees for tomorrow. I know it was meant to be mine. Even though it is 15 years old, it is my perfect dream. Lyle is right, don’t let your dream become unrealized, if you have the means!
Oh Geez! If not now when?? End of spring 2024 I finally bought my first Corvette, at 77 yo. You nailed it Lyle. This was some video! I get a kick out of all of them that you do. Helps me get on board with the hobby.
Exacly thats why i been daily driving corvettes since 21! Now 25 and i have owned 9 and will continue to daily drive vettes until i get a ferrari/lamborghini or i die!
Thx Lyle...had a '65 conv & then I got divorced .. flash forward to 2020 finally was able to get a numbers matching '70 LT1 & its rhe best...fixing stuff but keeping it original...
Lyle, I just wanted you to know this is the best episode of any that I have found on the internet or anywhere for that matter! You nailed it! I got my 14 z51 two years ago at age 69 and that turned out to be the perfect time for me. I had the money to pay cash and I have the time to curate my car. It is a love affair! Thanks for your insight and I hope all who hear this episode really listen to it. It is great advice on all points!!
Oh my goodness, I almost teared up at the end of that video Mr. Lyle. Love your videos! Straight forward, informative, and un-biased. Yeah I bought a ‘04 C5 6M Vert this summer! It is sooo much fun. Not a garage queen by any means, but oooh so much fun driving it, working on it, polishing it, putting the car cover on it. My wife said, “Wow, you finally have a hobby.” lol
Lyle, thanks for this cool vid. My experience is…..DO IT NOW! and not tomorrow. Every time I drive my Corvette you will see a very big smile on my face😃😃😃 I Enjoy the driving experience allways and it relaxes the mind. Peace✌🏻😎
I am 54 and finally bought my first Corvette- a. 96 LT4- a great car at a really good price. I still want to find my dream chrome bumper C3 Corvette some day.
Another great video Lyle! In 2009 at age 45 I got my first Corvette, a '94 coupe. Loved, owned and DROVE that car for 12 years. Was it the "latest and greatest".....no. However it was just FUN to drive. In '20 I picked up a '12 GS convertible (my first drop top) and within a week realized I'd never be without a convertible again. The C6 was such a great car to drive I soon found myself trading in the '94 for a '19 coupe. Loved the C7 so much I searched and ended up trading the C6 for a C7 convertible, so at one point I was fortunate enough to have two beautiful C7's in my garage. Last summer a deal for a brand new C8 basically fell into my lap so....yup.... traded the '19 in for the C8 HTC. Two completely different yet amazing cars and I couldn't be happier with both. That being said, every time I see a clean C4 on the road I just smile and wonder if I'll have another one someday. Through 14 years of Corvette ownership no matter what car it was I was/am driving I always had to turn and look back at is as I'm walking away. Any Corvette is never "just another car". Keep up the great work you and everyone at CS do!
I was s just listening to your comments and I am seriously considering about buying a C6 Corvette. 2008 - like you said get the LS3 engine. I am retired and I am realizing how fast the years are going by now . Thanks Vincent 🏝️
Even though I don’t feel I get to drive mine enough & have a 2005 Lexus RX with 200K on the clock as my daily driver. I am on my 4th corvette of my dreams now😊I had a C4 & 2 C5s before my 2010 C6 grand sport. Even though I don’t get to drive it as often as I would like to. I still love seeing it in my garage under its car cover. That’s what life is about 🎉
This just happens to be the best car buying advice I ve seen.If the guidelines are followed you re going to be a winner. If only I had this info before , but whats done has been done.
Good call on that one... I bought my C6 '08 Z51 Convertible with only 34,400 miles on it for 31 out the door in September... I figured that was not to bad of deal given the current car market. I also put $16,000 cash down so my payments are around 250ish a month (very doable for me)... I'm extremely happy with it, even though I did have to replace all the fluids, replace a tire (I had a blowout on the highway... not fun), and I had to replace the lovely Harmonic Balancer... All in all though, she is driving like a new car and is awesome to own 👍
Lyle, I look forward to each weeks' podcast. This week you said: "The right polishes." I would like to hear your opinion on the preferred detailing (Interior & exterior) products. I'm overwhelmed with the choices.
You are so right. There are so many to pick from. Personally I I have always loved Meguiars products but recently have discovered how great Griot's Garage stuff is also. I would be curious also as to what Lyle recommends!
Thanks for this. I bought my first Corvette two years ago at the age of 61. A 74 C3 that was about 95% restored. I paid with cash I inherited from my father and at the time I felt more than a little guilty, but now I realize that this car is my Dad's final gift to me and every minute I spend driving it or working on it is time spent reflecting on what a great Dad he was. I was able to make a good decision on which C3 to buy based largely on your advice. I bought my Vette as soon as it was practical, and had I waited even a year, I think the moment would have been lost. I was glad to hear to tell folks to not wait too long.
Amen Lyle ! I’m so glad I bought mine when I did. Raised my family, got my kids through college, then bought my C5 Z06. Young enough to enjoy it, but old enough to be responsible with it. I’ve tracked it, toured with it, showed it, and it has generally enhanced my life. It’s not my daily driver, of course, but it gets driven every week. It brings me so much joy, and, thankfully my wife loves it too. Thank you for all the great content you produce, this one is one of your best !
Hey Lyle! I called in the last couple of weeks to ask about a 2012 GS, and I indeed bought her last week! Thank you for your advice and i've already had a blast driving her around
I'm so very glad I didn't wait to get my 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51 1LT 7-speed manual in Laguna Blue! I always wanted a blue Corvette as long as I could remember. I acquired mine on March 19th, 2017 as an early 38th birthday present to myself, 11 days after I reached 6-figure annual income. I bought it "used" with 5,507 miles, still under factory warranty, and never having been registered. Saved $12k off MSRP. I've got almost 135k miles on it now and 3.5 payments to go. No major issues. I've left it in "Eco" mode for about 95% of those miles. No AFM problems. Oh, and for a time it was my only automobile (I also have 3 motorcycles), and I drive it in all weather, even during Winter in SE Tennessee. It handles very well in snow & icy conditions, as long as you're not an idiot. I've got video on my UA-cam channel of driving it in snow.
I agree with avoiding the LS2 cars, for sure. I also have heard that some of the later 2013's were kinda shabby, but I have no experience with '09 cars having more-than-normal issues. For my money, the '10-'12 cars are the best of the breed. Lyle
I want a Vette. I should've pulled the trigger to get one in 2019. Because once Covid hit in 2020, the car market turned into trash. I hate overpaying for toothpaste😫...so of course, I dont want to overpay for a Vette. Which I will only be able to drive 8-9 months out of the year. But im 45 and not getting any younger. So we shall see.
I totally understand your sentiment here. The best deal out there right now is actually a new 2025 1LT...excellent financing and full warranty that you can get for below MSRP. Of course, if you don't have an extra $70K lying around (as I don't), that makes it a moot point. Best value right now below $40K is still the C6 Grand Sport IMO. Let me know if you have questions as you move forward! Lyle :)
@csvette thanks for your response. Well I definitely don't have $70k sitting around lol. I like C7 body styles, but the AFM issue worries me. I never really looked at the C6 Grand Sport. I miight have to do some research. Thanks.
@@MrAntd1 The C6 Grand Sport has no AFM (big plus), has the wide body and upgraded brakes and suspension of the Z06 without the aluminum frame (which is almost unrepairable if hit). Cool fact: if you find a 2011-2013 GS Coupe with the manual transmission, you get a hand-built LS3 and some really nice upgrades like the dry-sump oiling system. :) Lyle
I wanted a hot rod for 40 years. It took my bil's sudden death (he went in to get an out patient procedure and something happened and he was dead by lunch) to finally spur me to get my car. Not a vette, but I am so glad I got it.
As a car enthusiast who’s a realist yet appreciates, sarcasm, satire and humor. Who also is in the market for a c8……I Absolutely loved this video……subscribed
Lyle, I really enjoyed your broadcast on "When to but a Corvette". You brought up some really valid points, but the one that really hit home, with me, was nobody is promised tomorrow! I wanted one all my life. At age 12 I fanaticized about owning a corvette while watching "Route 66" on tv. I retired at 62 and life was life, things got hurried and blurred, I put it off. I finally had the money and found I couldn't "justify" spending that money when other people were hungry and etc. I realized at 70 and being diagnosed with a formidable illness that it was now or never. I didn't buy a new one ,although I could afford it. I rationalized buy giving to some charities and bought a c6. A red convertable that for the past three years has been like an old friend. Thank you for all your videos and advise. This was spot on, at least for me. Bii phelps
A C5 was always one of my dream cars, so glad I waited till I was financially and emotionally more mature to buy one. If I woulda bought one in my 20's I know I would have either damaged it or when say, the motor blew last year it would be on blocks for extended periods instead of putting a LS3 in it with the most downtime being shipping from TSP. It also puts the biggest smile on my face when my Dad drives it :)
Such great reasons. Ppl thought I was crazy for getting a C6 in my 30s as a daily driver. I have zero regrets and it was such an amazing experience that I upgraded to a C7.
Great video. You are so correct about tomorrow not being guaranteed. I’ve been in health care for 39 years in critical care, trauma and now an anesthetist for the last 24, you never know what is cooking inside of you. Stuff happens all the time and without warning. Don’t throw away life waiting for “the right time”. We never know how much time we actually have left. Life goes by in a moment. Enjoy today in every way.
Wow Amen brother. I knew when I was a kid I wanted one I think I was 39 when I bought my first one a 94 glass top C4 beautiful car but your right Lyle I was at a good point in life where I could own the car not the car owning me. I then feel into a good deal on a 98 convertible and now I have a 2010 Grand Sport convertible and a 79 T top C3. I’m 60 now I have learned a lot about these cars and a lot of it from these amazing videos. Just yesterday I took the 79 to Walmart and did just what you said I turned around and said to myself that’s my car. Also involved in the Muskego Wisconsin Corvette Club nothing better then going on a drive with 30 other corvettes. Your right Lyle we don’t know if tomorrow is coming. I love everything about the corvette community. Thank you for this video
Amen, this is a great video. Tomorrow isn’t promised. I’m about to turn 45 in a few weeks. I purchased my first vette last November. Since I was a kid from a little town in East Texas I would pass by the local Chevy Dealership and swore to myself I would have a vette someday. I almost believe it’s good for my health. I love how I feel when I drive it.
I just bought a 2006 Corvette with 28,009 miles on it. Perfect shape. The Heads-Up works intermittently. The local Chevy dealership said they cannot fix or replace it. If you shine a flashlight on it through the windshield when it is not working it then comes on? Do you know where I can get it fixed or buy a replacement for it? Thank you, George
I’m glad to hear you say that good sir. When I bought my first one my thought was “long term isn’t as long term as it used to be, how many more chances are you going to get..”
Lyle, I watch all your videos even though I sold mine in 1987 when my kids were born. When I turned over the keys and signed the title, I just knew that it was temporary and someday I’d have another. 12:28 I’ve never been able to get there. You gave me something to think about. I’ll keep watching either way. Thanks for the hard work you do in making these videos. From NC.
Great video. I’m looking to dive into Corvette ownership for the first time in the next 6-7 months. This video covered a ton of important issues. I’ll be 53, children are grown, perfect driving record, work 100% from home, and we have a family SUV.
Great video! You hit nearly all of the reasons for why I purchased my ‘04 Corvette in January 2021. I just spent time and money on having a mechanic remove and replace a leaking driver-side fuel tank and connector pipe. Now, I have to work on a wobbly harmonic balancer on the LS1 engine, as well as installing a reconditioned electronic brake control module (already purchased and in hand). I’ve owned Mustangs for 23 yrs (and still do); but, I’ve always wanted a Corvette as well - so, here I am. Great advice! Keep your shows coming!
Hey Miguel, I have a Low mileage C4 that I sold a 2016 Mustang GT, also low mileage but enjoyed. I knew the C4 was going to need love due to age. I did it anyway. Some days it can cost Ya extra just because it older and stuff wares out. I had to build trust in that C4. Kinda like your C5. But like Lyle said, learn all you can about your corvette. It helps when stuff goes sideways with unexpected fixes. Lyle has always been great about returning answers to my Corvette issues that I'm stumped on. If you have a good shop to take your Corvette, you're a lucky man. Hope your issues with your C5 get fixed so you can just enjoy the ride. It takes time but it's worth it.
It's been a lifelong dream.
the last part of this video hit me so hard."tomorrow may not come“, right now is the BEST time to buy a corvette!
Then if it comes, you're broke.
That's why I purchased one. Very true statement.
Lyle I believe this is the most moving video you have ever made. Since I was a child in the sixties I dreamed of some day owning a Corvette. Now I have a beautiful C5 and I feel even more privileged to own one of these purely american sports cars. Thanks for what you do.
AMEN
I too grew up in the 50’s and 60’s. I wanted a Corvette since that time. A few years ago I got C5 and I love it so much.
Definitely a good one.
FANTASTIC video
Born in the late 50's.
Love my 96, C4
Congratulations!
Wow, thanks for opening up Lyle. Father Time remains undefeated and none of us are even guaranteed another day on this planet.
🤣😂😅🤣😂😅
I didn't go through that much red tape. I just HAD to buy the C4 that fell in my lap (driveway) and took out a loan from a shark with fmia connections. She may have cost me an arm and a leg.. but this car is WORTH it! I am mostly happy that she has power steering as well as an AUTOMATIC transmission. It comes in handy these days.
“Tomorrow may not come” wise words. Thank you for what you do!
💯!!
🙌🙌💪💪🔥
Agreed 100%! I love detailing my Corvette and driving her and looking back at how beautiful she is ! 🇺🇸🚗
Every time I park it. Love the car
I believe every driveway in America should have a corvette in it! There's a corvette in every price range!
Amen Lyle,
I bought my 1st vette in 2001 at 27, this spring I bought my 13th.
@@peterb4143 have to love sweat equity! Nice job. All the hard work will pay off.
Do it
Your right, I've always have wanted a Vett since I seen Corvette Summer as a kid...I just turned 56 and still wanting one!
Lyle...if I owned a Corvette, you would be my Parts Shop and Mechanic. Honesty sells!
Mine too!!
The last part of this video are words of wisdom! Guess what I'm doing on Monday. Thanks for the nudge!
Ive liked and subscribed just for Lyle. One of the best channels!
“Less of a machine ownership experience, and more of a love affair…” Myyy Goodness! If that’s not one of the truest things I’ve ever heard and felt! Boom, you nailed it brother💯
THAT was an OUTSTANDING presentation!!!!!!
I'm going to sell my c5 because I am getting older now. It just turned 110,000 miles. White coupe, all the good options. Clean. Never been in the rain since I owned it. Driven every week for a hour. 2002 garage queen
If you were on the fence, buy one, you will never forget it.
If you were on the fence, buy one, you will never forget it.
Thanks
Also pretty neat that you drove a CTR, uncommon to see guys your age drive those!
Well said Lyle - that ending was perfectly accurate in so many ways!
I’ll never let go of my ‘04… 😊
Nice. my recent first time corvette purchase a pristine 1999 FRC will never be sold. Car is simply the best bang for the buck.
In December 2021, I bought a restored 1967 L79 Coupe (a 3-time NCRS top flight car). And I freakin LOVE it!!! It’s my first Corvette and it’s a blast drive. My pride and joy!
That is fantastic! Enjoy the heck out of it!!! Lyle :)
That L79 must be a blast to drive, outstanding engine!
I like Lyle, lots of great tips for Vette owners. Thank you Lyle !!!
I feel the same way. There’s times that I will park my Corvette in a parking lot and look back and say I love this car.
Good, common sense ideas. Really liked the bank extra money idea for repairs.....I've always done that.
Great points all around! Life is short...If you can responsibly own one of these machines, no time like the present!
In January 2023, I bought a 1996 LT4 torch red red vette with 24,900 miles for $17,500 with a slightly bigger cam, cold air intake, x pipe and aftermarket exhaust out of Arizona. I never regretted it for a second. I happy as a pig in shit.
You got the deal of the century on that sweet gem. Your baby is going to skyrocket in value in short time. Congrats man!
Great Corvette advice. Great "life" advice, very balanced!
@Richard Elliott you need to take a look at my car sir before u jump the gun.. it's a 1of2 ever made C5 color combo
Thanks for giving props to the Miata! It's more fun than a roller coaster.
They are the number 1 choice for grass-roots road racing for a reason! I can't fit in one, but they certainly have their strong points! Lyle
Actually many lifetimes!
C5 owner here for 2 years. I always turn around and admire my car when I leave it. Great job with this video Lyle!
Got my first Corvette this year right before I turned 55 as a reward to myself for paying off my mortgage. It’s a 1 owner C6 in Monterey Red with 15K miles. Garage kept never driven in rain CA car. Pristine even with original tires. Sometimes I just stare at it.
That is what it is all about, my friend! Enjoy!! Lyle
kind of nice to listen to a man who has built a life around work he enjoys, because such a realization of life's possibilities is rare and wise.
One of the best videos I've seen in a long time.
Finally picked up a 2009 Z06, couldn’t be happier. Wanted a ZR1 but still out of the price range
I'm happy that you enjoyed it. Of all the videos I've done, I'm most proud of this one. :) Lyle
That 20%......your gonna need it!!!!!!!!!
Dang bro you almost brought me to tears man great video wow!
Thank you for always providing great content. IMO your closing comments were right on point and well said.
I enjoy all your videos. I am new to being a Corvette owner and have learned a great deal about these awesome vehicles. Thanks for posting!
I always look back at my c6
Thanks Lyle…great advice and yes, it is a love affair.
Great video Lyle ! Here today , gone tomorrow.
I was s just listening to your comments and I am seriously considering about buying a C6 Corvette. 2008 - like you said get the LS3 engine. I am retired and I am realizing how fast the years are going by now . Thanks Vincent 🏝️
Amen! No one knows how much time they will have. Seize the day, don’t waste time. If it’s important to you, don’t wait to do it. 👊🏼
You are correct Lyle.
I gotta just pull the trigger and get that Z06. It’s been the most fun I’ve had in a car since I have been driving. 😊😅🎉
Nothing retores my faith in America like hearing from a guy who knows his job and wants his skills to make America better.
Love the ‘Spend too much’ advice. Get something that is nice that You won’t have to worry about as much and You’ll be so much happier in the long run.
Turning back to look is the true test! Well said Lyle!!!
Another great video! And Lyle, is right, tomorrow isn't a guarantee, buy the Damn Corvette!! We only get one go a round!
I saw online that 05 06 07 09 13 c6 vettes should be avoided because they have the most issues.
I agree with avoiding the LS2 cars, for sure. I also have heard that some of the later 2013's were kinda shabby, but I have no experience with '09 cars having more-than-normal issues. For my money, the '10-'12 cars are the best of the breed. Lyle
Super video. Great points and sentiment 👍👍🇺🇸
:) Lyle
@@csvette sounds good! Thanks for the info!
Tomorrow may not come. Just bought a 06 c6 for that exact reason. Fantastic deal 17k with 93k miles
Good point someday becomes yesterday..that's why I got one and all my other cars I'm gonna have fun while I'm here
I’m glad to hear you say that good sir.
