Lol the bogan joke made this Aussie laugh 🤣 Ans I can totally understand why Wizard made the choice... Vipers are a nightmare to get right when you fit panels from other cars. You don't want one that's been in an accident. They were all hand built and can cost a fortune in labour when you want them looking new again. Not to mention the sheer expense of those hand built panels. It takes a real top notch body shop to get them looking sharp and the people who have those skills do not come cheap. Things can get out of hand real fast and Wizard doesn't want the ongoing headaches. I can totally understand that.
I drove a hellcat. The drove a scatpack, loved it! I loved it so much I bought one with the Vehicle Dynamics Package, basically the hellcat brakes. It was a great balance between the hellcat and usable power for the chassis.
I like Grimmes, saw over on Jake's channel first, and he's an honest straight up mechanic, and has helped a lot of people out. You drive whatever you like Wizard, it's your money. What's Mrs. Wizard's favorite car? I am working on a 1954 m38a1 jeep willys, has all the 24 volt wiring intact to go fording. My dr. told me i needed to be as active as i can, because i have progressive MS, causing muscle wasting on my entire left side. The muscles on my left, are half the size as on my right side, and i have weakness, numbness, and dexterity problems. I can't feel my hand, so it gets aggravating at time's doing stuff. I thank the Lord that i can still work on car's, and am not in a wheel chair. I have wanted an old army jeep for year's, but could never find a decent one i could afford near me. Luckily a guy bought the jeep from the governot in the 80's from an auction, and never road titled, which saved it from the salt killer here in Michigan. He drove it on his summer property up north, so it has 37,000 miles on it. He passed away, and i bought it for a good price from his daughter. I put two batteries in it, and all the electrical stuff work's, and it cranks real smooth. I took the carb off and rebuilt it, but it was really clean, and i could have run it. I am putting in new ignition parts, and making sure everything is good before i fire it up. I like the video's you do of the scammers, there are a lot out there, and you seem to be honest and fair to the people who come to you. It's unfortunate that people who don't know anything about car's buy stuff without having it checked out. I worked at a Chrysler dealership back in the early 90's, and the lease vehicle's that got turned in without ever having oil changes was crazy. The dgi car's will be destroyed from that now. I would never buy a leased vehicle unless there were legit service record's. People seem to have less of a conscience than ten or so year's ago. Keep on driving what you like, and billing Tyler for tearing up car's for you to fix lol. G-d bless from a lady in Michigan.

I had 2 Hellcats and a TRX and got rid of them. Great cars, but I can't get down with the whole "mopar" scene. I do however love my 2005 Viper (with a clean title) lol. That said I love all cars and you got a beautiful color / spec Scat Pack. Happy for you man! It's much more comfortable to daily drive for sure! Enjoy your new ride!
For the people saying he should have kept the Viper, the Viper is a weekend car that's not comfortable to drive daily. This is a good daily driver car. I would love to own a Viper, but I would much rather drive my Magnum RT on a daily basis.
No point in having a "small" car like a Viper when you're as big as Wiz that ya have to struggle to get in and out of and when you're in it ya feel crammed in. Did ya ever see him in the War Turtle VW bug? lol
Another thing too. If he can give someone else the opportunity to appreciate the Viper much more than he did, I think that's best for the car, and for the wizard.
I'm a car journalist and to me the charger hellcat widebody is one of the most fun car ever. Everybody talk about the hellcat engine but no body talk of how great they handle. There's a tone of sedan that out perform it in the bends but the char is so much more commutative analog and fun.
I like the Scat Pack Charger. For daily driving it handles as well as the generation of Viper he had, just not on the track. There the Viper has him beat. But I would rather have fun driving every day than just on the weekends. Also the Wizard is larg- I mean tall, squeezing into the Viper must have been a process. I especially like the B5 blue pearl, same as on my Challenger Redeye.
Tinting the entire windshield is only legal in a few states, and it must allow at least 70% light transmission. I never understood why you would want to make it harder to see out of the windshield at night.
That’s the same thing people say about tint in general. I’ve had 70% before and couldn’t tell any difference at night and it made a huge difference during the day especially in Las Vegas where I live. Maybe that would change if I was older but in my mid 30s I guess my night vision isn’t as bad as all these old men telling me how tint is bad because at night it’s hard to see
@@sleepyjordan887 yeah I just don’t often see people wear sunglasses at night, so making the windshield of a vehicle darker doesn’t really compute, and I have had tinted windows on my vehicles for years, just not the windshield. I think the strip some people put across the top of the windshield looks stupid.
@@Commentleaver-c6x Windshield tint is mostly about heat, not light. Unless you are a douche doing it darker than 60-70% for the looks. The strip looks dumb but it’s so nice because you don’t have to rely on the sun shades as often, or the spots they inevitably don’t cover. My current car is my first without one of those strips and I miss it so much. And I really don’t know what you are getting at with the sunglasses comment, but I feel like I’ve made my point on why some choose to tint their windshields, whole or just a strip
@@sleepyjordan887 the point about the sunglasses is most people don’t wear them at night because they inhibit your vision…kinda like putting tint on the windshield of your car, the piece of glass that you look out of the overwhelming majority of the time while you’re in said car, would also inhibit said vision.
@@Commentleaver-c6x yes but this is spoken as someone who does not have experience with tinted windshields. I can guarantee you would not notice any difference in visibility at 70%. None. But heat transmission is so much less, it’s amazing. So yea, stop thinking about it as a loss of visibility and it will all make sense!
In the UK there is a legal limit to the amount of tint you can have on the front side windows. Speed camera detectors are not allowed either, although a lot of sat-nav apps will show them.
@@leenevin8451 i never specified the reason... I don't think there are more than a small handful of states that allow a windshield to be tinted, or drivers windows to be tinted super dark (you have to see out). In the US you are free to drive a cargo van with no rear windows and no rear back windows if you please... you just have to follow tint laws for the windshield and side windows.
That says so much about people today. Customers with poor credit history, late payments, repossessions, even bankruptcies, think buying a muscle car is the best choice for their funds. They’re not trying to get out of debt, save for a home or their kids education with their money, no they want a toy for themselves.
What about the tightening of credit and the higher interest rates? You must believe in the system too much to be that oblivious to those factors. And how the system is rigged and built on worthless paper money that constantly requires checks and balances to control inflation which they have lost control of BTW.

As someone who used to do car audio, I was really hoping to hear Car Wizard mention the use of the PAC AP4-CH41 for the audio system as it'll be far preferable to using the Kicker LoC solution. A little more work, but better in the long-term and can be removed afterward without splicing in to any wires.

10:21 the problem with radar detectors is modern cars use radar for things like adaptive cruise control etc. I don’t know about that particular radar detector but a lot of them go crazy continuously because of the radar that’s on modern cars. Radar detectors detect radar and this was a problem with the last high end radar detector that I had. I don’t know maybe this one’s better and is immune to that but that’s been my problem with detectors in the past seeing as how pretty much every modern car uses radar these days for things like adaptive cruise.

Valentine 1-Gen 2 owner here. It is a very good detector when combined with the JBV1 android app. The next option is the V1 Driver app for iPhone. Even when using the JBV1 app, it can get a bit hyperactive around shopping centers. Uniden may offer a good option that will have GPS built-in but I can't remember the model. As for Australia, John Cadogan pronounces it "Astraya".

Good point on the radar detector. I've definitely caught myself going 90+ when I thought it was more like 75 and felt more like 50. Put a speed warning beep on at 95 because getting a 3 digit ticket would suck. Just wish detectors weren't $700ish. I know they could pay for themselves in a ticket or two, but still a hard pill to swallow up front.
I understand the appeal. It's a muscle car with modern (safety) features. Even with that horsepower it won't kill you as often as the Viper. That's a win in my book since I like your content. :)
I have a 2021 Challenger Scat Pack w/6-spd manual trans (see icon photo) and I just love it. Like you, I've owned a lot of cool cars over the years, but I said exactly the same thing. "Of all the cars I've owned, this one is my favorite." That 392 has more torque than GM's LS7 (which is a 427).
The cracked windshield is quite common on newer dodges; it’s believed to be due to improper assembly (missing bonding) resulting in excess vibration which results in broken windshields.
I love these cars but people trashed them so bad, the exhaust is a issue with these people cut everything off and think it sounds good it really don’t, you did it right and it sounds amazing like the hemi should, you can replace the door speakers with alpine ones in the dart grimes I did it to mine and it’s worth it, you will need to adjust the EQ stuff
6.4 is good if you’re keeping it stock because it’s essentially a mild build 5.7 from the factory. If you want to upgrade the engine at all, 5.7 is the move. 600hp under 20k all day long.
If wizard wanted anything similar to this in the GM world, I’d really recommend a 2014-17 Chevy SS. Amazing cars with amazing features and tech including Heads Up Display, heated vented seats etc. LS3 too!
I’m not an American-muscle-car guy but some of the chargers/challengers are sexy. I like yours, man! Keep it clean and looking like it does today! Such a beautiful car.
Great car. Make sure to seal all the holes in the rear deck if using the 8" sub (sound deadening). Using a line out from the rear deck speakers will lose bass, so a bass restoration device, or get a PAC-40(or 41) to do a line out directly from the head unit.... Enjoy!
There is also a setting that you can set up to give you a speed alarm if you go over a certain speed, that will keep you out of jail at least. Also we need a story about the 66 Chevelle I always see on your rack, it looks very clean.

I'm totally down for an audio upgrade series! I like the space saving idea, but I have to say I'm not so sure about the free-air subwoofer setup you're talking about. If you want to keep the sub where that hole is, I'd have him build a wide, shallow box (of the right displacement) and a shallow design subwoofer. Then, use a dense foam ring between the back deck hole and the speaker. also, sound deaden the crap out of that back deck. Lastly, the best minimum aftermarket upgrade is to do what you're doing, plus install a four channel amp with two channels bridged to the sub, and 75-100 watts each of the upgraded front speakers. Use an Audio Control LC2i to convert the speaker level signal rather than the unit you showed. That will give you a clip indicator, more bass control, and better signal input control . Rock on!!!
Been watching your channel for years, I recently bought a charger, didn't expect you to get one! Thought you may say theyre unreliable. I love my charger!

Resonators have always been in the back as far as I know. I glanced down at the speedometer on my 03 e39, and I was doing 110. I thought I was below 70 still. No wind noise or engine noise.
Good luck with the car. I have a 2014 RT with the 5.7. I was considering buying one of these with the 6.2. What I do not like is the low profile tires that are just waiting for a pot hole to be ruined. I like a rims that have a bit more tire. The last thing on these 6.2's is that they require 91 octane. My 5.7 can run on 87 Octane. So I use 87 octane gas around town and save a bunch of money. I use 89 when I take a trip. I would love a 6.2 to run in the low population areas of the mid west, you bet. @onsmashmedia9162 At one point 0% was available WITH rebates, and you had to have Tier 1 credit to get it.
And we went with the Harmon on my wife's Scat Pack, I really love it - when she lets me drive it! LMAO
B5 Blue is a great color and looks even better in the sunlight. These cars are terrific and the challenger scat pack is really a nice car also. I love the video.
The 6.4 and the ZF8 speed are such a good powertrain! The chargers really are a do it all car, haul the family during the week and then haul down the drag strip on the weekend!
Say goodbye to that unfortunately
What year is best ?
Agree! I drove our Scat Pack from the midwest all the way to the west coast - fully loaded with stuff that the movers wouldn't take. I kept up with traffic the whole way and still averaged 24.1 MPG. That's a hella good outcome (imo) for a full load and 500hp too.
@@lamontgarrison329615-23 in general is a good choice.
Those sound best by leaving the mufflers and deleting the resonators. Even the stock mufflers.
Lol the bogan joke made this Aussie laugh 🤣
Ans I can totally understand why Wizard made the choice...
Something about a powerful, somewhat "raw" feeling V8 just puts a smile on my face like nothing else can

These cars are so underrated as just a really good everyday car.
yes not a rare car or head turner these days, but it is fun and should be easy to get parts for. i say drive on wiz

I had 2 Hellcats and a TRX and got rid of them. Great cars, but I can't get down with the whole "mopar" scene. I do however love my 2005 Viper (with a clean title) lol. The viper is very difficult to get in and out of. Not much in the way of tech either. But it will get the looks no new Mopar can ever get. That said I love all cars and you got a beautiful color / spec Scat Pack. Happy for you man! It's much more comfortable to daily drive for sure! Enjoy your new ride!
Glad that you are enjoying your latest ‘favorite” Wizard.
Grimes has such a dry sense of humour! Nice car as well Wizard.
Did ya ever see him in the War Turtle VW bug? lol
The fact that the Viper had a 'salvage' title w/be a no-go for me. So yeah. Major upgrade here.
Another thing too. If he can give someone else the opportunity to appreciate the Viper much more than he did, I think that's best for the car, and for the wizard.
I owned a Viper, and can tell you everyone wants a viper until they HAVE a viper. Biggest POS ever made.
@@dajerseyrat Ouch. Noted.
I did the same subwoofer trick in an old P71 Crown Vic I had back in the day. Yup, even cop cars had the hole in the deck for an 8 inch sub.
Beautiful Charger!
I've just not seen many Chargers in this sharp paint code. It adds a nice visual to a nasty beast.
Congratulations - Enjoy your car ! That’s all that matters .
Wow that Dodge Charger is sweet!! ❤
In the UK there is a legal limit to the amount of tint you can have on
the front side windows. Speed camera detectors are not allowed either,
although a lot of sat-nav apps will show them.
Many US states have tint limits, even in the rear.
Radar Detectors here in U.S. is a state by state issue.
@@johnmichaelkarma From what I remember, detectors are legal everywhere except Virginia and DC. JAMMERS are illegal country wide though.
@@volvo09in the UK tint laws are for road safety not nosey police
@@leenevin8451 i never specified the reason... I don't think there are more than a small handful of states that allow a windshield to be tinted, or drivers windows to be tinted super dark (you have to see out).
In the US you are free to drive a cargo van with no rear windows and no rear back windows if you please... you just have to follow tint laws for the windshield and side windows.
Grimes is the best addition to anyone’s channel.
I love these cars! They are big comfortable and roomy cruisers!
Best of luck with it! 🚙
Hilarious. Grimes is too much and of course you too Wizard. We watch every episode. Great car Wizard! I have a 2014 challenger R/T and I love it!
The Wizard made a smart choice. As you get older, climbing in and out of Viper is no longer fun.
These modern, late-2010's Dodge Charger's are beasts.
Automotive designers think the public is stupid. The mustang is now an electric suv, the Maverick is now a small truck, and the Charger is now a 4 door family hauler... Next thing we'll have a GTO mini van...
Hey, don't give them any ideas. And you can still get a real mustang, they just diluted the name, unlike the eclipse.
@@stephenmoore1541 As a DSM owner myself, the eclipse cross really hurts to see.

All the wall panels are gonna be rattling at the Omega shop as The Wizard pulls up in his Charger.

Say what you want, but it’s still a downgrade coming from the viper
older vipers are kind of a pita to own, very difficult to find parts, just has typical old car problems. $2500 windshield if you need a replacement, etc.
Who cares… man is happy thats all that matters.
How so? Present your argument instead of just saying things.
@@guitarguymiIf you have to ask why a Viper is better than a 4500lb "one trick pony" which used the same chassis for roughly 15 years you don't deserve an answer

I had a rental charger once. It was a V6 but it was super nice and comfy. V1 Gen2 is the hot set up. I love mine.

I love the content and religiously watch. Honestly I would love to see Grimes a lot more, and even be more involved in the reviews and his thoughts overall. Man has a ton of knowledge.
Also 10/10 Mrs. Wizard cinematography.
Cruise control.
I have been using V1 Gen2 for years. Add a smartphone app for full control. Best detector setup.
Love how the factory made that spot out for the speaker. Can't wait to hear it
The cracked windshield is quite common on newer dodges; it’s believed to be due to improper assembly (missing bonding) resulting in excess vibration which results in broken windshields.
If you're in Kansas. A fully tinted windshield is illegal. You can tint it to the AS1 line. K.S.A. 8-1749a 7:38
I love these cars but people trashed them so bad, the exhaust is a issue with these people cut everything off and think it sounds good it really don’t, you did it right and it sounds amazing like the hemi should, you can replace the door speakers with alpine ones in the dart grimes I did it to mine and it’s worth it, you will need to adjust the EQ stuff
LS3 too!
Love the color!! Did they lower the front? Can’t wait to get a camera ride in car
Grimes is right, it is a really nice color and that's the best part of the car so it's the best compliment.
I’m not an American-muscle-car guy but some of the chargers/challengers are sexy. I like yours, man! Keep it clean and looking like it does today! Such a beautiful car.
Regarding back shelf, subwoofer, stiffening the back shelf with some sort of brace and a Dampening material will improve response and punch of bass.
Great car.
Make sure to seal all the holes in the rear deck if using the 8" sub (sound deadening).
Using a line out from the rear deck speakers will lose bass, so a bass restoration device, or get a PAC-40(or 41) to do a line out directly from the head unit....
Enjoy!
I have a dark maroon one, same year, only 41000 miles on it.
Had one as a rental and fell in love with the engine. Made me buy my srt Durango
There is also a setting that you can set up to give you a speed alarm if you go over a certain speed, that will keep you out of jail at least.

I also appreciate the slotted rotors. ....Drop in a JL 8in Sub WOULD BE GOLDEN!!!!!
Rock on!!!
He just wants a radio upgrade. It doesn't need to "bang"
Been watching your channel for years, I recently bought a charger, didn't expect you to get one! Thought you may say theyre unreliable. I love my charger!
My dad was a used car dealer so I’ve driven /owned practically everything .I own a charger rt.Best car ever. Its hard to get affordable insurance .Get the financing AND the insurance in place before you buy.
But in the congested northeast, I have to pass.
Bro you did good getting a 392. These things are fast as hell. Especially for a car with that much room. I love mine and will likely be buried in it.
