We know that there were two Harrys in Prisoner finale at the same time. But it also means that his horcrux was "doubled". So Voldemort technically had 7-part soul again for 3 hours when Wormtail escaped
Every time a horcrux is created, the soul is split in half. So if the journal was the first one it would have 1/2 of his total soul l, while Harry being the 7th would be less than 1 16:03 % of his total soul, as well Voldemort would only have about 1% of his soul remaining. You know how Ron's first wand was passed down to him from his brother Charlie. "The wand was already worn out when Ron brought it to Hogwarts and was almost broken in two by the Whomping Willow." I always wondered if it was one of Molly's brothers' wand since they passed away during the first war. Like how Neville is using his father's wand. They are always portrayed as struggling financially, so it would make sense for them to reuse her brothers' wand/wands to save money. Then, when Charlie graduates and gets a job and his own money he wants to buy himself a new wand just for him that better fits him and gives the old wand back to his parents. Who then gives the wand to Ron. The dates of their death seem to line up to right before the kids would start school. Molly Weasley's brothers, Fabian and Gideon Prewett, were murdered by Death Eaters in 1981 during the First Wizarding War: William: Born on November 29, 1970 Charlie: Born in 1972 Percy: Born in 1976 Fred and George: Born in 1978 on April Fool's Day Ron: Born in 1980 Ginny: Born in 1981 I'm curious about your thoughts on this theory.
Love this theory, but with one caveat: the three brothers were simply powerful wizards, as per Dumbledore's speculation. However, the secret "ingredient" could be a Dementor. We already know that two of the three objects require magical beast components (the wand core and the invisibility cloak from a Demiguise). So maybe the brothers learned a way to harvest Dementors, or perhaps they "came across a dead one along the way."
I don't particularly like this theory because I've always seen death, especially in the story of Harry Potter as merely something that happens. It is not evil, but dementors? Dementors are the purest, most wicked kinds of evil. (also I am kind of biased because I've always had a pet theory that it was Death that Harry met at kings cross. Greeting him just as he did his ancestor, as "an old friend")
This. I don't even have a problem with Death being corporial in harry potter, I just think it directly contridicts some of the fundamentals of haryy potter, being "There are much worse things than death". Having Death then be the biggest baddest Dementor (the most evil thing) just doesnt make sense to me, and this depiction of Death as malevolent also just doesnt add up.
@@tazisme5751I question if Dementors are evil creatures. Like I know they are depicted as doing horrible things but couldn’t they also have undergone a type of demonisation by wizards? Like lions and spiders do horrible things too they kill and eat meat and blood to survive. But that’s the thing-it’s their mode of survival there is no morality behind it.
Death...An obvious sort of fellow: tall, thin (skeletal, as a matter of fact), and ALWAYS SPEAKS IN CAPITAL LETTERS. Generally shows up when you're dead, or just when he thinks you ought to be. Not a bad chap when you get to know him (and sooner or later, everyone gets to know him).
My theory is that the Veiled Archway the ministry of magic was built around... was the bridge the brother's created for the "river too treacherous to cross". Through the veil, Death emerged, and congratulated the brothers on their magic.
Maybe that dementor went after Harry because he saw that there were two souls within him and it was just trying to correct it. Basically remove the part of Voldemort's soul to "make things right".
Harry Potter Theory: Veriteserum could have solved just about everything. Did Sirius kill the muggles and Peter? Veriteserum. Did Winky make the Dark Mark and the Quidditch World Cup? Veriteserum. Was Voldemort actually at the graveyard? Veriteserum. Just some examples.
They already did a video on Veritaserum and why it is not the perfect solution to every criminal case. The death of the Riddle family is a good example. Even if the Ministry suspected that Morfin did not kill them and gave him Veritaserum, he would still claim that he is the murderer as his memories were altered. The truth that Veritaserum forces you to reveal is not some always true truth but rather a subjective ‘what you believe to be true’ truth.
Hmm but Dementors feed on happiness and horcruxes are made through murder. It’s almost like taking a life to create a second life. Maybe but idk what they would feed off of? Maybe unicorn blood or stabbing the horn into one could destroy one.
15:21 wait wait wait, dementors can see through invisibility cloaks, right? Dumbledore says this basically straight to Harry at the feast. If death is a dementor, it should be able to see through the cloak… but death himself could not see through the cloak, according the the 3-brothers story (which is how ignotus got away from him all those years). Therefore death can’t be a dementor. Idk, maybe I’m wrong, but that is my qualm with this theory.
Maybe they're the dementors cloak? Like dementors are actually a symbiotic relationship between boggarts and lethifolds? Not sure what the lethifold would eat other than the boggart but maybe that's the symbiosis? And it would explain why the upgraded boggarts now react to a patronus
Side Note: Wouldn't it make more sense for Lethifolds to evolve into Dementors? I mean, they're also black cloaks that are weak to the Patronus Charm, they're just missing the immaciated body underneath... unless... the Dementor is just a corpse that a Lethifold attached itself to, driven by the need to consume happiness that it once was able to feel naturally...
I like to think possibly both could be the case depending on things like geographic region. Don’t think it was ever said in Pottermore that Dementors can’t have subspecies. (And if Dementors are a metaphor for Major Depression well…there are different types of Depression like Bipolar and seasonal affective disorder/depression. What would the physical manifestation of mania look like I wonder?)
The only hole in this theory that I can see is that |Dementors can apparently see through invisibility cloaks, or at least sense those under them| “Dementors are not to be fooled by tricks or disguises - even invisibility cloaks” - Dumbledore, in Prisoner of Azkaban If death was a dementor, why would the cloak be able to trick him? Just a thought.
Maybe Bogarts are like Ditto where they can not only take the form of somebody's worst fear but become the physical manifestation of it. Perhaps that's why Lupin stepped in when Harry had to face the Bogart to prevent Voldemort from suddenly appearing in real life.
Perhaps Death was the first ‘dementor’, and much more powerful… until he had to give up invisibility to Ignotus. Then separated into thousands of dementors, forgoing the power to take life, and instead only maintaining the ability to take souls. So Ignotus is to blame for the creation of dementors. The Hallows fairy tale is a veiled origin story of the dementors?!
Normally don't say anything about the ad reads, but really laughed at this one. We all aspire to give the "Exactly what I wanted and never knew" reaction.
I love the idea that death is like the king of dementors and even if the one by the lake was not death himself, it could have been influenced by his king. It would also explain why dementors follow Voldemort, who has caused more death than most.
From what I have seen Ron was the one who was least affected by Dementors. And his wand core is a unicorn hair, and he would be characterised the most to be "like a unicorn".
When he's talking about the Harry's dementor kiss, it could be trying to take the horcrux of Voldermorts soul in Harry rather than Harry himself, sensing an evil soul nearby or something
What if Death was the first dementor and was the one who killed the dark wizard that found the island that later became Azkaban and that same dark wizard also created dementors
My favorite book is The Book Thief where the narrator of the book is Death and he talks about what it’s like to be Death and what he does….But this whole video is just making me think of Death from The Book Thief
I have a different theory: Maybe Dementors are imperfect replications of death. I read a description once (I think it was in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them book), where it was mentioned that nobody really knows where they came from, they just appeared on an island previously occupied by a particularly cruel and perverse dark wizard. Maybe the dark wizard was trying to replicate/create "Death", the physical manifistation from the Beetle the Bard book, and something went wrong, creating the dementors.
The quote about being cursed if you kill a unicorn is quite emblematic of Voldemort's connection to Harry. Voldemort tries to kill Harry as an innocent, pure baby in an attempt to prevent Harry being a risk to him later. The act of trying to kill harry as a baby is what began Voldemort's fall. Voldemort further solidifies his doom taking on Harry's blood in GoF because without knowing it, Voldemort was living a "half-life" because he had checkmated himself by also taking on Lily's sacrifice.
You know, I 100% expected this video to be older than 2 hours, but suspected otherwise when it was recommended to me again in 30 minutes when I had my binge of this channel over a week ago.
I think the hardest trivia question ever could be, what’s a dementors height, cuz they keep changing that particular description from book to book. Once they mention 10ft but then how is a dementor fitting in the Hogwart’s express ? They do look enormous in this chapter art.
I finally just realized why Peter never showed up on the marauders map. Sirius said something to the effect of "the dementors thought I was less human my emotions less complex when transformed". What if Peter had been so invested in hiding and being Scabbers, that until Sirius broke out of Azkaban the map saw him truly as Scabbers the rat. Also I know I'm assuming the map and the dementors would identify a wizard in a similar way. Like they both recognize the soul of someone who does magic but for all intents and purposes Peter has the soul of a rat.
My opinion on how realistic a bogart mimic is depends on what the person specifically fears. Eg. Ron doesn't like their spindly legs, so the focus would be on their long legs. Ron doesn't fear spiders cos some are venomous, so the mimic isn't venomous. Conversely, Harry is afraid of a dementor in it's entirety, including their ability to make him relieve his worst memory and faint, that's why his mimic was so realistic.
Here's a question I've been interested in for quite a while: How do wizards control Dementors? Fudge speaks about packing the Dementors off to Azkaban and later says all Dementors are under Ministry control (and at the time, he's right: it was a Ministry official who set the Dementors on Harry and Dudley); later, the Death Eaters choose when to send the Dementors to look for the golden trio in Hogsmead, meaning that they could have chosen to keep them at bay. And these aren't the only examples. Conclusion: there are ways to place Dementors under control, at least partially (the Ministry does lose control over them when they switch sides to Voldemort). How is that done? Somehow I don't see the Death Eaters produce a massive army of permanent Patronuses (is it even possible to have a Patronus last that long?) to keep hordes of Dementors at bay for hours or even days on end
So... How was it to be Ignotus' wife and son all these years ? The thought of Ignotus' flirting and havins "fun" times while wearing the invisibility cape at all time is hilarious to me. His son saw his father's face for the first time when he was about to never see him again (kinda sad and poetic)
The only partway through your theory, but had one of my own that I wanted to speak. What if death was not a dementor but the form of all the dementors if they came together? Like some event separated him so his personality is gone, but if it were to be undone, it would come back? Something like some brothers stole the three powerful artifacts that let him be himself.
Okay I'll admit I've been tuned out for a little while, but that handlebar moustache nearly knocked me off my chair xD Not many can rock the handlebar, but you pull it off man
When I was a kid, before I ever read HP books, I saw a Muppet Christmas Carol and was frightened by the portrayal of the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come. And later when I read the HP books, that's exactly how I picture dementors. And then when the movies came out and dementors were depicted on film for the first time... that's pretty must what they looked like lol. Just more fog machine.
I think that a good theory that drives from this one is that the three brothers were actually amazing wizards that researched death and made the hallows from things connected to death, such as the elder wand having thestral hair, the invisibility cloak possibly being made from a dementor cloak who is already invisible to muggles and the resurrection stone could be made like a bezoar but in a unicorns stomach. Thestrals are connected to death because wizards can only see them after having seen someone die, dementors like they say in this theory are very related to death in both appearance and powers and making a cloak out of one could make one escape them and "evade" or escape them and unicorns can keep you alive if one drinks their blood, so a bezoar, an ingredient that is seen as an antidote in general, being made inside a unicorn possibly could make someone "ressurect"
He probably still posses invisibility. Since the cloak was ripped out from a part of his clothing. He did not give away the whole cloak, just a small part. Death may be a very ancient dementor from a time when ancient magic still existed for regular use. If death could come from a dementor there may also exist other dementor that are stronger. Since I doubt someone that can talk and make something like the hallows would be so weak. If he made them and did not just come into possession of them.
Please I keep posting g this theory and would like your input. My theory is that Dumbledore put the devils snare in the trap door under fluffy for Neville to have a chance to help harry. Dumbledore knew Neville was gonna try to stop the golden trio because he gave him points
What would Snape's Patronus be if it didn't take the shape of a doe, due to his love for Lily? (It's kind of sweet to think that a doe was always his Patronus though, since he's loved her since childhood).
Great video...this is just my theory about Harry's invisibility cloak, that the reason it's a deathly hallow is because it impervious to most kinds of magic like it could not be summoned when a deatheater tried to do that...and more importantly it might also be able to protect the wearer from even the unforgivable curses including Avada Kedavra.
While there may be some similarities in their "physical description", dementors are supposed to be manifestations of depression. From what I've read their history is always around dark wizards, I'm not sure they are natural entities but instead created. I think if anything they may have a connection to the creation of a horcrux as they both about the soul leaving the body outside of death. And perhaps that's why they are drawn to Harry. Or just Voldermort's sliver of evil soul.
Maybe the three brothers just met a dementor on the road, saw/experienced what they feard the most (losing power/being powerless, never finding love again/being alone, dying to early not having lived a full life...) and thus started creating the hallows?
I actually agree with this. The fear of death is the most primal fear and the Hallows all seek a way to conquer that fear. The wand tries to fight death head on, the stone tries to reverse it and the cloak hides from it.
Death is a Dementor that is also a Horcrux. It is that Horcrux Soul Fragment that gives Death its personality. Harry and Nagini have tiny Voldemort soul fragments in them that make up their Horcrux and they still have their personalities altered by them despite such tiny soul fragments. (Their Horcrux Souls are tiny because Voldy had already split his soul in half several other times prior to them) Dementors can not die, they are eternal - there is no better vessel for a Horcrux.
sounds like a sound theory, though I see it more as Death being the OG dementor and as the human and other population grew, Death split itself, forever consuming and growing but not being its complete OP self. hence why the robes on the dementor's robes are so tattled, a large one had a portion cut out to make a human size one when the invisibility cloak was gifted, and the rest just ripped as too many too quickly needed a robe. the one that came for harry was just one that had levelled more and probably recognised that Tom Riddle was meant to be dead (kudos if you read that in Izma's voice: "A Llama!?! He's meant to be DEAD!" lol) and technically so is Harry. Since the precise moment that Tom's killing curse aimed at Harry rebounded.
I mean, even though the rank file dementors are mostly described as almost beast-like in that they lack sense of self or higher mental capacity, I think there were multiple references to them that made them sound sentient (I think that the phrase was something like "they will join the dark lord as soon as he asks them"?) but from what I can recall right now, the ministry always treated them almost like hunting dogs, not like sentient creatures. So the thought of there being degrees of intelligence and t he progenitor or most powerful of the race being Death doesn't sound far-fetched
I feel like I'm a little late but I've got 1 things: I love this theory partly because it plays into the roots of magic and magical beats, close to the ancient magic we get to see as love in HP. The only but I have for this theory(and I might be wrong, I haven't been up to date with the theories) is that the wizard Raczidian made the dementors while he was doing dark arts experiments. As I said I feel like you are getting at the ancient magic such as the game Hogwarts legacy, love and Hogwarts itself, I love this idea and made me think back about ancient magic. We see it as love in Harry Potter and we see it as some kind of neutral magic in Hogwarts legacy, while I was thinking about it(did not find any concrete stuff) if pure love for someone with some extra stuff(scarifies?) can be achieve ancient magic called love why doesn't there something off the opposite exist, like anger or death? And why doesn't this involve Voldemort? In case I'm wrong about the origin of Dementors then I think there could be a way to fit ancient magic of the anger/death side to the original Dementor.
I know this isn't connected to DH at all, and didn't listen to/watch the episode of TTGD containing this, but: in "Prisoner," chapter 5, Lupin's asleep for 8.5 hours at least (at least until 7:30, I think the story says- i.e. until the dementor attack) but it's never explained why he's so tired. But here's something you might find interesting if you didn't mention it on TTGD: if you look up the phase of the moon on 8/31/93, it was a literal full moon- even out of universe! That makes him being asleep make a lot of sense!
I could've sworn that the theory inside the theory was leading up to Unicorns being made up of fully realized Patronus' (Patroni?). Basically the inverse of Bogarts becoming Dementors. Seeing a being of pure innocence materialize from nothing but a collection of dozens or hundreds of Patronus castings, full of each of those witches and wizards purest happiness and joys.
Unicorns can totally fight Dementors... right?
I'd love to see how that would go!

I'm curious about your thoughts on this theory.
The look of death in the film was amazing! One of the Best represenstations of it!
@@tazisme5751It also stands to reason that if ignotus had to hide from death forever it would make it pretty hard to sire a kid.
Maybe a dementor gaining a soul/personality makes it ascend from being evil? It's a weak excuse, but it's plausible.
I agree with your pet theory because I've thought the same thing - that it wasn't Dumbledore Harry met but Death impersonating Dumbledore.
That last bit is quite uncomfortable
15:31 "Death is getting owned by this particular bloodline" 😂😂
@@Dark-hl7cw right! I forgot about that
Harry Met Death. It only took the form of Dumbledore
Just noticed: The Elder Wand looks like one of Death's fingers. Cool miny theory.
Ancestor and descendant are antonymous, not synonymous. 14:13 You called Harry an ancestor of Ignotus before switching (correctly) to descendant.
I noticed it too
Who cares
We all know what he meant. We all slip up every now and then 😊
Death is the friendly dementor from the neighborhood who only takes souls of people who die anyway.
Didn't knew Mr Pringles took over supercarlinbrothers .
The mustache is mustaching hard :) 🥸❤
Please do a “What if Snape heard the full prophecy video?”!!
If death is a dementor, are unicorns….. patronuses?
COULD A DEMETOR'S KISS DESTROY A HORCRUX???
new headcanon brought about by this video
Hmm but Dementors feed on happiness and horcruxes are made through murder. It’s almost like taking a life to create a second life. Maybe but idk what they would feed off of?
Maybe unicorn blood or stabbing the horn into one could destroy one.
I think they did a video about this years ago.
So where do Lethifolds fall in the boggart>dementor lifespan? Patroni work on them too if I recall the ancient tomes correctly.
But a lethifold is a carnivorous creature. It would need meat, not feelings, to survive.
HonestlyI just assumed that the brothers run into a testral and the legend just got distorted with time.
What if Idea:
What if Hermoine didn't turn into a Cat in Chamber of Secrets
(With that I mean that she didn't got the Cat Hair)
You guys should write a series of books and structure it around theories like this!
The only hole in this theory that I can see is that |Dementors can apparently see through invisibility cloaks, or at least sense those under them| “Dementors are not to be fooled by tricks or disguises - even invisibility cloaks” - Dumbledore, in Prisoner of Azkaban
If death was a dementor, why would the cloak be able to trick him?
13:09 Maybe because it could sense two souls inside him?
if Death were a dementor, Dumbledore would be nowhere near as willing to embrace his own death :P
Could you do a video on the mythology of the Wizarding World (like fantastic beasts)
Ben & J, I love yalls theories and the podcast is my Monday morning joy at work. Keep it up guys!
3:09 I think it's Waldo in the chapter art xD
Great theory, but: didn’t Dumbledore say that the Invisibility cloak won’t help against a Dementor?
Normally don't say anything about the ad reads, but really laughed at this one. We all aspire to give the "Exactly what I wanted and never knew" reaction.
Only channel left taking batterhelp sponsorships.
Probably something to do with exponential power of dementors that it was able to flick the mist away.
No. In case anyone was wondering. Death is not a dementor. Though we appreciate this muggle theory.
Perhaps Death is the first Dementor, and maybe that is why he would be more powerful than other Dementors.
Perhaps the Dementors and the Thestrials are actually the children of Death.
One of your best theories so far! Good job😎😎😁
11:54 Love the captioner’s inputs🤣🤣🤣🤣
You know, I 100% expected this video to be older than 2 hours, but suspected otherwise when it was recommended to me again in 30 minutes when I had my binge of this channel over a week ago.
So, the Cloak of Invisibility is actually the cloak of a Super Dementor? Makes sense, honestly.
15:40 Dumbledor did say that the Dementors cannot determine the difference between the one they hunt and the one that gets in their way
I think the hardest trivia question ever could be, what’s a dementors height, cuz they keep changing that particular description from book to book.
This is my favorite theory you guys ever came up with 🤯🤯🤯 hats down to you 🎩
My opinion on how realistic a bogart mimic is depends on what the person specifically fears.
It's canon that Dementors were " born " on the island that became Azkaban.
You covered this story....
Dementors don't impact animals, so unicorns wouldn't be impacted, so they probably could skewer it with their horn.
Okay I'll admit I've been tuned out for a little while, but that handlebar moustache nearly knocked me off my chair xD
Not many can rock the handlebar, but you pull it off man
When I was a kid, before I ever read HP books, I saw a Muppet Christmas Carol and was frightened by the portrayal of the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come.
I now have the headcanon of Death is the father of all dementors AND YOU CANNOT STOP ME
He probably still posses invisibility.
Come on everyone knows Death is Rio Vidal played by Aubrey Plaza
Great video...this is just my theory about Harry's invisibility cloak, that the reason it's a deathly hallow is because it impervious to most kinds of magic like it could not be summoned when a deatheater tried to do that...and more importantly it might also be able to protect the wearer from even the unforgivable curses including Avada Kedavra.
Or, the dementors were taking advantage of the free pass they'd been given to administer the kiss to Sirius
Your Firenze interpretation sounds like an inspector from Belfast to stop some gangster group of Birmingham
Sometimes the artist makes a mistake. It does look more like Hermione.
(Their Horcrux Souls are tiny because Voldy had already split his soul in half several other times prior to them)
Dementors can not die, they are eternal - there is no better vessel for a Horcrux.
I love the idea that boggarts are immature dimentors
sounds like a sound theory, though I see it more as Death being the OG dementor and as the human and other population grew, Death split itself, forever consuming and growing but not being its complete OP self. hence why the robes on the dementor's robes are so tattled, a large one had a portion cut out to make a human size one when the invisibility cloak was gifted, and the rest just ripped as too many too quickly needed a robe. the one that came for harry was just one that had levelled more and probably recognised that Tom Riddle was meant to be dead (kudos if you read that in Izma's voice: "A Llama!?!
I feel like I'm a little late but I've got 1 things:
I love this theory partly because it plays into the roots of magic and magical beats, close to the ancient magic we get to see as love in HP.
New theory spawned by this video, Dudley Dursley is Death having been reborn as a mortal
I wonder if there are any well known characters who have or may have fallen victim to a dementor's kiss.
Idea for a video: What if Harry was a squib, but still the chosen one?
