You really gave ron justice in this story. Winning harry as seeker twice,playing keeper without any nervousness, pulling the sword out of the hat and fight the fiendfyre and using the sword to make flames! Just badass. Gryffindor himself would have been so proud
I can sort of imagine that, when Draco finds Harry is still alive, he can't hide a wicked grin on his face, knowing they basically won, which Voldemort interprets completely wrong as absolute devotion from Draco
I kind of love the idea that Harry and Ron in this parallel timeline are friendly rivals in Quidditch rather than teammates. I can just imagine them playfully arguing at the Burrow, "I'm going to crush you this year." "No, I'm going to crush YOU this year!"
Honestly, friendly rivalries are the BEST in any field. I myself am not a jock, I am a musician, but there’s always friendly competition between members. You want to be as good as someone in front of you? Practice.
All I can think of is Draco holding Dobbie pacing back and forth three times, thinking, "I need a place for my friend to rest." I didn't think I'd cry watching this.
It’s unlikely. He’s said he’s avoiding all Harry Potter content because he wants to sit down and enjoy it with his kids after so much time. But maybe one day

This the best "What if Harry Potter was in Sylytherin" as there is so much detail to the story. It is so professionally well done that it would be perfect for an animated series. I love the positivity vibe woven through the story.
It was surprisingly lighthearted compared the the original. I also loved that they actually read the book and tried to be careful to keep it a true alternate to canon.
I got so genuinely invested in this fictional version of a fictional story!!! The seemingly small change of houses unironically created what I think is a BETTER version of the original plot. The story somehow seems less convoluted and the characters’ (specifically Draco) growth was extremely satisfying!
I can’t agree more. Would almost wish someone could write it out like a book on a fanfic site or something, so I could sit down and read it word for word like any other book. Idk could be cool.

But Snape won't be knowing about Horcruxes. This is honestly a dumb idea from Snape's perspective. He should know that the sword is capable of absorbing fires. This is only a plot device in SCB's storyline. But I like it!
@@ambiverter Considering Snape was the one who was keeping the curse from the ring in check, we can assume that he was told the theory of the Horcruxes even if he wasn't given confirmation until later. So it's not that huge a plot hole.
@@ambivertersnape knew about the horcruxes, why he needed to protect harry and give him the information that he IS a horcrux when its time. and the sword engulfing the fire probably wasn’t known to snape because its quite random and not that useful in most cases
I genuinely think this version of the story is WAYYYYYY better than the original story, Draco's arc is way more interesting and fleshed out, you really did Ron justice and made him a cool character, Harry's relationship with Hermionie feels more fleshed out and not forced like Harry's relationship with Ginny did, and this was just all around an amazing, thorough, and well thought out plot. amazing job!!
@@joonaslaitinen9520it is far better in the books but I think the romance is made worse by the books being from Harry’s perspective, imo the only reason Ron and hermionie and ginny and Harry get together is that limitation. There’s only so many characters Ron and hermione can spend time with often when Harry is the pov character. It’s convenient that they get together as they are his best friends so they get lots of time together in front of Harry. And ginny is left as a character Harry spends a lot of time with because he’s at the burrow every year, just my opinion tho
Yeah sure letting important characters live just to kill them off later anyways so that Dobby instead of having a beatuiful grave which its location is visited by hundreds of HP fans every day ling dead in the room of requirement killed by Crabbe or Goyle was certainly a great writing decision🙄
This was such an interesting watch. My favorites changes: -I prefer these couples. -Ron is a much better person. -Draco has a great arc. - Finally some positive Slytherin représentation. -The trio is arguing less which was getting hard to read when it happens every book.
JK did Ron dirty... For some reason she really didnt like that people liked him before the movies (he was even more popular than Hermi), and seems to have made an active effort for making him a bad person after she got some confirmation that a Hermi centered story could work with the movies.
The trio arguing makes sense kinda cause they spend soooo much time together, they even live together most of the year. That makes it easy for arguments to happen when hormones are high.
I know this is like 7 months old, but this has to be one of the best fan fictions I have ever seen. This has changed my view on many things in the Harry Potter world because this truly seems like a viable story. It’s appalls me that an entire story can change based on one interaction. Thank you so much for this story.
I might like it even better then the actual Harry Potter 😅 the only thing I I miss is Harry’s great relationship with the twins, I absolutely love Gred and Forge and I wish Harry could have bonded with them a bit more
I will never stop loving the Draco redemption arc. He was always my fave character and as an amateur writer who enjoys the world of fanfic he is deffo an interesting character to create stories from.

This is... The best Harry Potter AU i have ever seen. Especially to us slytheryns. Everything was so fluid and natural! In my opinion, it turned out even better then what we got! My personal favorite part is Harry and Draco relationship! Also the basilisk being alive is amazing too. Anyways, congratulations for your great job!!! 💚
it’s interesting to see how much more of a true gryffindor ron is revealed to be when not overshadowed by harry. 😢 and the way harry and draco learned to work together is so interesting! this all has me thinking that maybe harry would have been better off in slytherin. it actually represents the inter-house unity that was supposedly so important but that we didn’t see too much of in the series
Yes, I never thought Rowling's writing lived up to her claim that all houses were good and all houses were equal. This does a *much* better job; even includes Ravenclaw via Ron and Luna wedding!
@@zbanul10yes but it’s not just Harry who thinks that way. If you look at the characters on page, she describes the Slytherins as dumb ugly evil brutes for the most part. Just about none of the good guys have anything nice to say about any Slytherin. It’s very clear that the author thought there was a good house and an evil house. She very clearly favored Gryffindor. Her houses were basically written as the Nerds, the Lame-os, the Super-Awesome-Cool-Bros, and the Evil guys. She talked about the nuances, mostly after the fact, but never hinted at any during the writing.
Ok. 3 main changes are happening. 1) Draco's is very different person, than in original story. 2) Your cupples are like 200% cuter. 3) Basilisk is actually lovely missunderstood creature. Those oppinions of Hagrid might have something to them.
Remember though that the reason the basilisk is so useful is because it is weaker than normal. If it still had it's petrifying gaze, it would be far too dangerous to be of much use.
I feel like this is somehow a richer story where characters really have to make active changes to their perspectives in order to develop. I really enjoyed listening to this as a mini-novel in a way in and of itself!
I really enjoyed this AU story. It really does feel like Harry would not only have done well in Slytherin, but his legacy in the end would probably change the house for the better in terms of how students are and its reputation. The story feels really well done in regards to certain things like Harry and Snape's relationship being better, Snape being better than in the books, the relationship choices, and the use of Draco. Draco himself was really awesome in this storyline. His character arc and what he goes through really is arguably the highlight of this entire AU story. This was a great story, and one I could see working if it actually happened instead of what we got.
I agree. One of the things that felt off about the main story was the continued vilification of Slytherin House. Albus Potter is still scared to be sorted into Slytherin, despite Draco's redemption, Regulus' betrayal of Voldemort, and the fact Pettigrew (a Gryffindor) betrayed James and Lily. Even with Harry knowing its not as simple as "Slytherin=bad, anything else=good", his kids still believe that somewhat. This take redeems Slytherin, which feels so much more satisfying than it remaining as the "evil" house. It analyses the concept of evil a lot more, proving that its your actions that make you evil, not your blood or what house you are sorted into.
@@saskia9720fun fact: after voldemort got defeated, mcgonagall took over as head mistress and they started to rebuild. through the years, slytherin became less and less ‘the evil house’ and everyone was getting along
Draco is the highlight in this retelling! I love how different he could have been and seeing him be “friends” or at least helping Harry makes me so happy. I would love to read a book with your alternative Story. Plus it makes everything so much better to see Slytherin and Gryffindor student bond and spend time together and shows that people are not just black or white, good or evil.
I think they do end up friends, probably more after the war ended. (I am a smidge disappointed they didn't developp a wee bit more the ending to tie up some loose ends)

Somehow this version of events is way better than the classic story. Especially making the basilisk a huge component to Harry's arsenal and having a rival character become one of Harry's closest friends and allies makes everyone way more complex and their motives more fleshed out.
Yeah.... He literarely made killing the Basilisk the most repulsiv and disgusting thing Voldi has ever done, it literarely put Voldemort on Umbridges level of evil.... Impresive !
It took me sooooooooooooooo long to catch onto that this was the case, but when I finally realized that Snape had been using Lily's wand since his had been destroyed at the end of HBP I started tearing up. This series was well worth the binge today.
I had a small epilogue to this story. When Harry becomes the Dark Arts instructor, he makes his way to the Chamber of Secrets for Old Times Sake. And he sees a young Basilisk Hatchling. In the Basilisk laid an egg in the years while Harry was in Hogwarts! I just want the Basilisk to continue on
Unfortunately, there is a particular process to make a basilisk, I don't remember but it was given in the books. Something about a chicken egg and a toad to hatch it. So Basilisks are not natural species, but a magical equivalent of a genetically modified species. I doubt they can lay eggs
@@xblccdx Also feels like it shouldn't have been possible to kill it with a single killing curse. Giants and Dragons need multiple, so why would the legendary Basilisk be any different? It couldn't have been due to the Elder Wand since Moldyshorts wasn't the master even in this version of the story.

Draco’s character arc in this new take on the Harry Potter series is so impressive and reminds me of Zuko in Avatar the Last Air Bender. Maybe i’m a bit biased since that’s my favorite animated show ever, but I actually love this version of the series much better. However, my favorite change was having Hermoine be with Harry and Ron with Luna. Could not have done it any better. Excellent job guys!
with all the times harry goes to the school hospital in this version i think some of the more Mythologicaly savy Ravenclaw would call him "Captain Caduseus" not only as a reffrence to the hospital, but also the whole Sliderin Parsletounge, and the fact that he's constantly either getting KO'ed by blunt instruments, or knocking others out
I like to think that in this timeline the golden trio and draco go back and finish their 7th year at Hogwarts. For once they can have a school year free from Voldemort. I can see them all ending their last year as some of the best in Hogwarts history. Draco: a talented student who is skill in defensive magic despite and a great chaser before losing the arm. Ron: Gryffindor quidditch captain and a prefect. Hermione: smartest witch in her year and got top marks on her exams. Harry: Slytherin quidditch captain, best defense against the dark arts student, and possibly Head Boy.
Draco did attend Hogwarts that year... though perhaps several students felt their education suffered under Snape and the Carrows, and were granted the option of re-doing the year with a more respectable curriculum. Also, contrary to the Carlins' Epilogue, I don't see why Draco should remain armless. Even Muggle amputees get to have prosthetics, and surely Voldemort's Dark-Magic silvery spell wasn't the only magical option available
Harry SHOULD'VE been sorted into Slytherin. I mean, Ron wasn't so gloomy, harry ends up with Hermione and Ron with Luna and it's just perfect. This is better than the original version to me

I would like to see you guys take a swing at rewriting The Cursed Child to be cannon. I'd like to see what a good sequel would look like to you.
There is one big change that would happen Snape wouldn't become a double agent which means that Sanpe is just filing information form Dumbledore to Voldemort (I mean he would but for Voldemort).
@@TV-ly3dp I think you're right that Snape would not become a double agent, but I'd go so far as to say he wouldn't even be working for Dumbledore. Remember, the only reason that happened was to protect Lilly. Take that out, Snape would probably just join Lucius in pretending to be under the curse. I don't think he'd be a teacher either. The man clearly had no desire to teach. If anything I could maybe see him being an author? Maybe he writes a couple of Harry's textbooks?
I've listened to Cursed Child on audiobook, so I only remember parts of it. I think the first big change should be that Albus is sorted into Gryffindor (after all, that's what he seemed to have wanted at the end of DH.) But Scorpius is *also* sorted into Gryffindor. If this happened I could see Draco becoming more like the fictional Draco in these stories and supporting his son despite the fact he didn't make it into his house. Lucius probably wouldn't be as accepting though, and I feel like he'd pull a Mrs. Black and cut him from the family tree for this. I don't think Harry and Albus should have a stained relationship. Not to the extent Cursed Child put it at. The fact Harry knew neglect from all his years with the Dursley's, he'd never neglect any of his children. Of course, they'd probably have some issues as Albus became a teenager, as most kids eventually do with their parents. I feel like James and Lily were excluded a lot in the story, even though James and Albus seemed to have a brother relationship similar to Fred, George, and Ron. Plus I feel like the Potter boys would become protective over their only sister. I don't think Rose would be as upright as the story made her out. I could see her being a bit bossy like her mom but also a bit stubborn like her dad. I could still imagine Scorpius having a crush on her. When it comes to the character of Delphini (IDK how to spell it), I think most of us agree that it's weird and unbelievable that Bellatrix would be pregnant with Voldemort's child while the war is raging on. I propose a different theory. Instead of Delphini being their child, she was a baby born to another death eater during the war. Bellatrix, who is good at occlumency and legillimency would plant false memories into the young girls head, making her think that she was the daughter of Bellatrix and Voldemort. The death eater who was the real parent would help raise her to believe this as well, pumping it into her brain and making her believe it was all true. Eventually she would be sent to stay with Amos Diggory, who was a widower and in poor health, needing a caretaker. At some point she uses a confunding charm or a potion to confuse Diggory and make him think they were related. She planned to get back at Harry Potter by changing her appearance to look like a teenager so she could lure in one of his son's.

I kind of feel like this happened after Draco accepted protection from Dumbledore. When Harry went to comfort Draco and said he understood. I know it’s not the exact same thing but I feel like it got pretty close there.
Pretty much when Harry comforts him before Dumbledore's death, indirectly. Draco has been completely on Harry side ever since, doubt gone when Dumbledore offers his protection + Harry's comfort.
@Vishakha_B897 I can definitely see why that would be appealing. But in the context of the story Draco is a terribly abusive bully to Hermione. Though he has several moments of character growth the way he treats her cannot be excused and would not lead to a positive relationship like an enemies to lovers trope. He is severely traumatized by his family and the dark Lord and all that conflict he goes through would just be brutally taken out on Hermione who has her own traumas in relation to her growth and life. I absolutely understand the fantasy of them in the enemies to lovers trope but in actuality their individual traumas, Dracos tendency to lash out and hurt people and Hermiones tendencies to be the strong one and guide everyone would lead to a horribly abusive give and take relationship. But in the fanfiction world anything is possible lol.
Not gonna lie I like this version of the story better than the originals. Draco's redemption is handled in a much more organic way, the couples just feel more natural, everything makes more sense tbh
I was so in love with this story that at some point i tought that this was the main story. And in my head i was like "well now i want a what if harry potter was in gryffindor". And then i realized oh yeah this is the what if. But really this is like one of the best stories i've ever heard and at some points even liked it more than the original story which says alot. It's one of the best harry potter what if stories, what if stories and just stories in general that i have ever seen.
I loved this. It was just like getting to read Harry Potter all over again. Although I’m pretty sure they mainly did this so Harry and hermione would end up together and to give Draco a better story. I was kinda disappointed that Dobby and Cedric didn’t survive even though their original deaths were avoided.
I guess they were really trying to make sure this didn’t end up being a “fix-it” where it seems all Harry’s problems are solved just because he happened to be sorted into a different house
I cant resist an opportunity to write character backstory so here's one for Pete from 20:58 Pete keeps to himself because while hes a Slytherin, he himself was muggleborn, he can see thestrals in 5th year because he's haunted by the death of his brother who was hit by a bus over the summer and not even magic could save him. He's not got very high marks in any particular classes barring herbology, though since he and his brother were enamored with the first few episodes of Bill Nye when he came back over christmas break in 3rd and 4th years he started to grasp object manipulation spells like Arresto Momentum, and Wingardium Leviosa in a way very few other students could. He would go on to simply stop attending Hogwarts at the end of his 5th year, moving to America and living among muggles for the rest of his life, sneakily using magic object manipulation for his day to day tasks working the backroom in a retail outlet, his bos becoming extremely suspicious when his productivity drops so steeply after the installation of security cameras in his work area.
Watches bill nye, becomes adept at a field of magic. This really is the “magic is just an advanced science,” in action now isn’t it. Hermione being so gifted in the execution of all things magic might stem from her muggle education. If she’s simply intellectually gifted then we can assume before wizarding school she would have likely been in middle school level classes at an early age in the same way she’s in advanced classes throughout the story, and has a good basis for how hard science would effect magic.
If this was posted on AO3 it would have these tags: Canon divergence, harry is a slytherin, harry/hermoine, ron/luna, harry & draco, draco redemption arc, double agent draco, BAMF draco, cedric and dobby live longer but still die, the basilisk lives MUCH longer but also dies, cho chang gets the short end of the stick, neville's feeling left out (sorry neville)
I love the fact that each of the horcruxes is destroyed by a different person. I've been rewatching these videos over and over again - this has become the actual story of HP for me. Thank you so much you guys!
I actually think this story is a better representation of the theme of the entire HP series from Dumbledore’s quote: “It’s our choices that show what we really are far more than our abilities.” Harry was put into Slytherin but he CHOSE to be the person he was, rather than allowing his gifted abilities to take him down the same route as Voldemort, which he could have much easier being in Slytherin. Also, Harry with Hermione at the end makes more sense because it felt like in the early books this was being foreshadowed until a sharp, awkward turn put Ron and Hermione together, like JK Rowling changed her mind part way through writing the series. This feels much more natural.
It feels like JK changed her mind on a lot of things. Honestly, each book is extraordinarily well written individually, but as a series they're... Honestly pretty mid.
I'm curious which "hints" there were about Harry and Hermione having romantic feelings about each other. I've never thought there was anything between Harry and Hermione other than friendship. Harry never had any romantic feelings about Hermione, and Hermione never showed any affection to Harry. Prisoner of Azkaban was the first book Harry cared about ANYONE romantically. The first two books literally had *nothing.* From PoA onwards, all Harry cared about romantically was Cho, and then Ginny in Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows. Every book reader always complains about the Harry and Hermione dancing scene in Deathly Hallows, because there wasn't even an ounce of romantic feelings between the two in the books. I'm honestly baffled why you think there were "hints" about Harry and Hermione being together.

I kind of really dig the Luna/Ron pairing... and I love how so much changes, while basically staying the same. Except for Draco's well needed redemption arc. Someone had to have one and he is a perfect candidate.
This series surprised me. It is very rare a fan-fiction/alternate timeline is actually interesting! It is even more rare that many of the alterations to the plot actually provide a more nuanced and cohesive narrative. This was incredibly thought out and written. There were some moments in these videos that I wished straight up happened! Great job! 👏

It's more about accepting and coming to terms with a death that occurred in front of you. He was too small to comprehend his parents death when they happened, and had always accepted their absence. He hadn't "lost" someone before Cedric, technically.
@@ambiverteri think its just because humans dont develop memories until about 3 years old. so him seeing his parents die, even knowing he watched, wont change it because he cant remember it happening. he just knows it did. but obviously theres a difference seeing something and remembering it, and seeing something but just being told it happened and you have no recollection
Just recovering from knee surgery and binged both parts. I am an avid Dramione fanfic reader and I have never enjoyed something so much as this! I LOVED your take on this. I think you would enjoy the disappearances of Draco Malfoy which is a fanfic written as if Draco had taken Dumbledores offer to go into hiding in half blood prince. It completely re writes the deathly hallows with Draco joining the Golden Trio. In fanfic communities it’s considered cannon. I loved the Basilisk story and I just wish dobby and the basilisk had survived. Thank you so much for the hard work.
As a Romione shipper I genuinely enjoy that Harry and Hermione get together in this fanfic. I got to say, if most events have to happen the same way I just can't disagree with any of the changes you've made. This feels like a truly canon alternate reality, great work.
My understanding was always that Harry saw Hermione like a sister. So even if Ron doesn't develop a crush on her, Harry doing so feels very weird to me. But I guess it is logical 🤓
@@ambiverter I agree 100%. But I like the idea that if he never spent all of his time (like in every class) with Hermione than there's a possibility that he'd see her in a different light. But definitely in the actual canon he does not see her as a love interest at all.
What if Draco marries a muggle-born? Like someone he met when he fully drops his pureblood beliefs and decided to make a visit in the muggle-world to see how everything works. Then possibly meets someone who is an activist or is an outspoken individual, because that was one of the interests Draco picks up when he released Dobby from slavery. I feel like Draco cutting his pureblood bloodline and fully destroying the beliefs his father and the wizarding world built in him makes sense for me.
I want this as a 7 volume book version. (Similar to Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality, which is "what needs to happen for harry to end up in Ravenclaw")
It’s less what happens if he sorted into Ravenclaw, and more what would happen if Petunia married a scientist/college professor (who’s a much better person than Vernon). Harry ending up in Ravenclaw was a direct result of that change
If you liked HPMOR, I suggest the Prince of Slytherin series. It has more changes than just Harry switching house, but most of the original content is really good and the plot just as engaging as in this video, if not more.
Yup, I am now adopting this as my canon. It's just so much more nuanced, and fitting to the "it doesn't matter where we came from, but what we choose to do" message of the series.
I love this version, especially where Harry is the DADA teacher. It fits him so much better than an Auror. Although I really thought you were going to say he was the flying teacher! That would've been the best fit for Harry. And Draco as DADA teacher?? Draco's use of DADA was very advanced in this series. I'd have liked to see the trio become friends with Malfoy, and as colleagues as Professors, it would've fit. I'm lol-ing that Harry has to reassure Albus that it'll be ok if he's in Gryffindor, while his wife and best friend were Gryffindors lol. Also, would the readers know what Voldemort was saying in Parselmouth? Since his bit in Harry would've died? And readers are following Harry's POV. (At the part when Hagrid is holding Harry)
Since harry used in this verision of the serise parseltongue so many times (like in the start and the end of any the da meetings) he may start to remember the meaning of the words by himself, like ron hearing how harry opened the locket was enough for him to open the chamber, so if harry was using this so many times more wouldnt he just learn to diffrent between words ? Hard to tell
Someone out there that is decent at fanfics needs to write this story - all books, exactly the way it was stated here. Please. Of course there will need to be filler to make it into full books such as common room banter, new side characters, Quidditch match details, etc. It's Harry Potter but cranked to 11, Draco's arc being amazing and the Basilisk being used by Harry is just epic. Edit: just like the movies, this will become a yearly watch for me for sure. You done a fantastic job on this buddy, the amount of research and making sure there wasn't a contradiction, just wow. It's a work of art. Edit 2: If this fanfic actually comes into existence in written form, I want this dude to read the whole thing to us as a series.
This series has seriously made me want Harry to be in Slytherin. I love how you guys wrote this. And Draco's character arc is awesome in this version. I watched this series as it came out and it was really good like that but I am loving having this on in the background as I do other things and listening to the whole thing.

Hold up, not sure if I missed something but where would Malfoy have learned of Sectumsempra (1:32:18)? In this version Harry never uses it on him and I thought everybody left Snape to be alone when Harry used it on him. I wouldn't think Malfoy would even know of the spell at all.
dude, i would ABSOLUTELY read/watch this version of the Harry Potter series. i got chills during some of the story telling and laughs from others. i also teared up a little at the Harry death part when the others reacted, even though i knew Harry would still be alive. you're an amazing story teller :D
I feel like Ben and J would be phenomenal directors and in charge of the Harry Potter movies. I would love to see the next generation of Harry Potter under their control, The Marauders, The Founders, even more on the new timeline where Harry is Slytherin, including this as a tv show

Wow, just wow! This was absolutely insane! I just binged the entire supercut, and was hooked instantly! I loved this, heck, I enjoyed this more than the original writing! Also, I genuinely felt sad about the basilisk dying at the end there!
I miss Neville though. In the books it explains that he just as easy could have fulfilled the prophecy but it was Harry because that is how Voldemort interpreted it. But in the end when Neville defeated Nagini in a way he did fulfill the prophecy of defeating him
Definitely one of my favorite fan fiction series, really wish this was a full book. Interesting route that Malfoy ended up taking, he did kind of get a Redemption Arc in the main timeline in the eighth book, but not quite and I feel like this just solidifies it a lot more that he truly is a good person

This the best "What if Harry Potter was in Sylytherin" as there is so much detail to the story. It is so professionally well done that it would be perfect for an animated series. I love the positivity vibe woven through the story.
It was surprisingly lighthearted compared the the original. I also loved that they actually read the book and tried to be careful to keep it a true alternate to canon.
I got so genuinely invested in this fictional version of a fictional story!!! The seemingly small change of houses unironically created what I think is a BETTER version of the original plot. The story somehow seems less convoluted and the characters’ (specifically Draco) growth was extremely satisfying!

I genuinely think this version of the story is WAYYYYYY better than the original story, Draco's arc is way more interesting and fleshed out, you really did Ron justice and made him a cool character, Harry's relationship with Hermionie feels more fleshed out and not forced like Harry's relationship with Ginny did, and this was just all around an amazing, thorough, and well thought out plot. amazing job!!

For some reason she really didnt like that people liked him before the movies (he was even more popular than Hermi), and seems to have made an active effort for making him a bad person after she got some confirmation that a Hermi centered story could work with the movies.
The trio arguing makes sense kinda cause they spend soooo much time together, they even live together most of the year. That makes it easy for arguments to happen when hormones are high.

Yes, I never thought Rowling's writing lived up to her claim that all houses were good and all houses were equal. This does a *much* better job; even includes Ravenclaw via Ron and Luna wedding!

Just about none of the good guys have anything nice to say about any Slytherin. It’s very clear that the author thought there was a good house and an evil house. She very clearly favored Gryffindor. Her houses were basically written as the Nerds, the Lame-os, the Super-Awesome-Cool-Bros, and the Evil guys. She talked about the nuances, mostly after the fact, but never hinted at any during the writing.

Remember though that the reason the basilisk is so useful is because it is weaker than normal. If it still had it's petrifying gaze, it would be far too dangerous to be of much use.

I feel like this is somehow a richer story where characters really have to make active changes to their perspectives in order to develop. I really enjoyed listening to this as a mini-novel in a way in and of itself!
I really enjoyed this AU story. It really does feel like Harry would not only have done well in Slytherin, but his legacy in the end would probably change the house for the better in terms of how students are and its reputation. The story feels really well done in regards to certain things like Harry and Snape's relationship being better, Snape being better than in the books, the relationship choices, and the use of Draco. Draco himself was really awesome in this storyline. His character arc and what he goes through really is arguably the highlight of this entire AU story. This was a great story, and one I could see working if it actually happened instead of what we got.
I agree. One of the things that felt off about the main story was the continued vilification of Slytherin House. Albus Potter is still scared to be sorted into Slytherin, despite Draco's redemption, Regulus' betrayal of Voldemort, and the fact Pettigrew (a Gryffindor) betrayed James and Lily. Even with Harry knowing its not as simple as "Slytherin=bad, anything else=good", his kids still believe that somewhat. This take redeems Slytherin, which feels so much more satisfying than it remaining as the "evil" house. It analyses the concept of evil a lot more, proving that its your actions that make you evil, not your blood or what house you are sorted into.

Draco is the highlight in this retelling! I love how different he could have been and seeing him be “friends” or at least helping Harry makes me so happy. I would love to read a book with your alternative Story. Plus it makes everything so much better to see Slytherin and Gryffindor student bond and spend time together and shows that people are not just black or white, good or evil.

Somehow this version of events is way better than the classic story. Especially making the basilisk a huge component to Harry's arsenal and having a rival character become one of Harry's closest friends and allies makes everyone way more complex and their motives more fleshed out.

It took me sooooooooooooooo long to catch onto that this was the case, but when I finally realized that Snape had been using Lily's wand since his had been destroyed at the end of HBP I started tearing up. This series was well worth the binge today.
I had a small epilogue to this story. When Harry becomes the Dark Arts instructor, he makes his way to the Chamber of Secrets for Old Times Sake. And he sees a young Basilisk Hatchling. In the Basilisk laid an egg in the years while Harry was in Hogwarts!
I just want the Basilisk to continue on

Draco’s character arc in this new take on the Harry Potter series is so impressive and reminds me of Zuko in Avatar the Last Air Bender. Maybe i’m a bit biased since that’s my favorite animated show ever, but I actually love this version of the series much better. However, my favorite change was having Hermoine be with Harry and Ron with Luna. Could not have done it any better. Excellent job guys!

I like to think that in this timeline the golden trio and draco go back and finish their 7th year at Hogwarts. For once they can have a school year free from Voldemort. I can see them all ending their last year as some of the best in Hogwarts history.
Draco: a talented student who is skill in defensive magic despite and a great chaser before losing the arm.
Ron: Gryffindor quidditch captain and a prefect.
Hermione: smartest witch in her year and got top marks on her exams.
Harry: Slytherin quidditch captain, best defense against the dark arts student, and possibly Head Boy.
Draco did attend Hogwarts that year... though perhaps several students felt their education suffered under Snape and the Carrows, and were granted the option of re-doing the year with a more respectable curriculum. Also, contrary to the Carlins' Epilogue, I don't see why Draco should remain armless. Even Muggle amputees get to have prosthetics, and surely Voldemort's Dark-Magic silvery spell wasn't the only magical option available

The other one is less of a "what if" and more of a rewrite. I would like to see you guys take a swing at rewriting The Cursed Child to be cannon. I'd like to see what a good sequel would look like to you.
There is one big change that would happen Snape wouldn't become a double agent which means that Sanpe is just filing information form Dumbledore to Voldemort (I mean he would but for Voldemort).
@@TV-ly3dp I think you're right that Snape would not become a double agent, but I'd go so far as to say he wouldn't even be working for Dumbledore. Remember, the only reason that happened was to protect Lilly. Take that out, Snape would probably just join Lucius in pretending to be under the curse. I don't think he'd be a teacher either. The man clearly had no desire to teach. If anything I could maybe see him being an author? Maybe he writes a couple of Harry's textbooks?
I've listened to Cursed Child on audiobook, so I only remember parts of it. I think the first big change should be that Albus is sorted into Gryffindor (after all, that's what he seemed to have wanted at the end of DH.) But Scorpius is *also* sorted into Gryffindor. If this happened I could see Draco becoming more like the fictional Draco in these stories and supporting his son despite the fact he didn't make it into his house. Lucius probably wouldn't be as accepting though, and I feel like he'd pull a Mrs. Black and cut him from the family tree for this.
I don't think Harry and Albus should have a stained relationship. Not to the extent Cursed Child put it at. The fact Harry knew neglect from all his years with the Dursley's, he'd never neglect any of his children. Of course, they'd probably have some issues as Albus became a teenager, as most kids eventually do with their parents.
I feel like James and Lily were excluded a lot in the story, even though James and Albus seemed to have a brother relationship similar to Fred, George, and Ron. Plus I feel like the Potter boys would become protective over their only sister.
I don't think Rose would be as upright as the story made her out. I could see her being a bit bossy like her mom but also a bit stubborn like her dad.
I could still imagine Scorpius having a crush on her.
When it comes to the character of Delphini (IDK how to spell it), I think most of us agree that it's weird and unbelievable that Bellatrix would be pregnant with Voldemort's child while the war is raging on. I propose a different theory. Instead of Delphini being their child, she was a baby born to another death eater during the war. Bellatrix, who is good at occlumency and legillimency would plant false memories into the young girls head, making her think that she was the daughter of Bellatrix and Voldemort. The death eater who was the real parent would help raise her to believe this as well, pumping it into her brain and making her believe it was all true. Eventually she would be sent to stay with Amos Diggory, who was a widower and in poor health, needing a caretaker. At some point she uses a confunding charm or a potion to confuse Diggory and make him think they were related. She planned to get back at Harry Potter by changing her appearance to look like a teenager so she could lure in one of his son's.

I kind of feel like this happened after Draco accepted protection from Dumbledore. When Harry went to comfort Draco and said he understood. I know it’s not the exact same thing but I feel like it got pretty close there.
Pretty much when Harry comforts him before Dumbledore's death, indirectly.
Draco has been completely on Harry side ever since, doubt gone when Dumbledore offers his protection + Harry's comfort.

@Vishakha_B897 I can definitely see why that would be appealing. But in the context of the story Draco is a terribly abusive bully to Hermione. Though he has several moments of character growth the way he treats her cannot be excused and would not lead to a positive relationship like an enemies to lovers trope. He is severely traumatized by his family and the dark Lord and all that conflict he goes through would just be brutally taken out on Hermione who has her own traumas in relation to her growth and life. I absolutely understand the fantasy of them in the enemies to lovers trope but in actuality their individual traumas, Dracos tendency to lash out and hurt people and Hermiones tendencies to be the strong one and guide everyone would lead to a horribly abusive give and take relationship. But in the fanfiction world anything is possible lol.
I love the Basilisk's amazing redemption arc. Liskyboi is the true hero.
Not gonna lie I like this version of the story better than the originals. Draco's redemption is handled in a much more organic way, the couples just feel more natural, everything makes more sense tbh
I was so in love with this story that at some point i tought that this was the main story.
And in my head i was like "well now i want a what if harry potter was in gryffindor".
And then i realized oh yeah this is the what if.
But really this is like one of the best stories i've ever heard and at some points even liked it more than the original story which says alot.
It's one of the best harry potter what if stories, what if stories and just stories in general that i have ever seen.
I loved this. It was just like getting to read Harry Potter all over again. Although I’m pretty sure they mainly did this so Harry and hermione would end up together and to give Draco a better story.
I was kinda disappointed that Dobby and Cedric didn’t survive even though their original deaths were avoided.

Pete keeps to himself because while hes a Slytherin, he himself was muggleborn, he can see thestrals in 5th year because he's haunted by the death of his brother who was hit by a bus over the summer and not even magic could save him. He's not got very high marks in any particular classes barring herbology, though since he and his brother were enamored with the first few episodes of Bill Nye when he came back over christmas break in 3rd and 4th years he started to grasp object manipulation spells like Arresto Momentum, and Wingardium Leviosa in a way very few other students could. He would go on to simply stop attending Hogwarts at the end of his 5th year, moving to America and living among muggles for the rest of his life, sneakily using magic object manipulation for his day to day tasks working the backroom in a retail outlet, his bos becoming extremely suspicious when his productivity drops so steeply after the installation of security cameras in his work area.
This is honestly a perfect backstory, it’s sad while comical at the exact same time

Hermione being so gifted in the execution of all things magic might stem from her muggle education. If she’s simply intellectually gifted then we can assume before wizarding school she would have likely been in middle school level classes at an early age in the same way she’s in advanced classes throughout the story, and has a good basis for how hard science would effect magic.

I actually think this story is a better representation of the theme of the entire HP series from Dumbledore’s quote: “It’s our choices that show what we really are far more than our abilities.” Harry was put into Slytherin but he CHOSE to be the person he was, rather than allowing his gifted abilities to take him down the same route as Voldemort, which he could have much easier being in Slytherin.
Also, Harry with Hermione at the end makes more sense because it felt like in the early books this was being foreshadowed until a sharp, awkward turn put Ron and Hermione together, like JK Rowling changed her mind part way through writing the series. This feels much more natural.
It feels like JK changed her mind on a lot of things. Honestly, each book is extraordinarily well written individually, but as a series they're... Honestly pretty mid.

I'm curious which "hints" there were about Harry and Hermione having romantic feelings about each other. I've never thought there was anything between Harry and Hermione other than friendship. Harry never had any romantic feelings about Hermione, and Hermione never showed any affection to Harry. Prisoner of Azkaban was the first book Harry cared about ANYONE romantically. The first two books literally had *nothing.* From PoA onwards, all Harry cared about romantically was Cho, and then Ginny in Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows. Every book reader always complains about the Harry and Hermione dancing scene in Deathly Hallows, because there wasn't even an ounce of romantic feelings between the two in the books. I'm honestly baffled why you think there were "hints" about Harry and Hermione being together.

This series surprised me. It is very rare a fan-fiction/alternate timeline is actually interesting! It is even more rare that many of the alterations to the plot actually provide a more nuanced and cohesive narrative. This was incredibly thought out and written. There were some moments in these videos that I wished straight up happened! Great job! 👏
This was an incredible series! And it's literally not the point, but Harry marrying Hermoine and Ron getting with Luna makes this all worth it lol.
I'm just happy that Harry apparently becomes a teacher which I think was his true calling. He enjoyed teaching the DA classes so much.
I can see him being an Auror then Head Auror, then becoming the DADA teacher.

He didn't prior to book 5 in the terf's timeline so no reason why he would here.
It's more about accepting and coming to terms with a death that occurred in front of you.
He was too small to comprehend his parents death when they happened, and had always accepted their absence.

Just recovering from knee surgery and binged both parts. I am an avid Dramione fanfic reader and I have never enjoyed something so much as this! I LOVED your take on this. I think you would enjoy the disappearances of Draco Malfoy which is a fanfic written as if Draco had taken Dumbledores offer to go into hiding in half blood prince. It completely re writes the deathly hallows with Draco joining the Golden Trio. In fanfic communities it’s considered cannon. I loved the Basilisk story and I just wish dobby and the basilisk had survived. Thank you so much for the hard work.
As a Romione shipper I genuinely enjoy that Harry and Hermione get together in this fanfic. I got to say, if most events have to happen the same way I just can't disagree with any of the changes you've made. This feels like a truly canon alternate reality, great work.
My usual problem with people who prefer Harmione is that they find that Ron is somehow unworthy. It's clearly not the case here, so Im fine with it...
My understanding was always that Harry saw Hermione like a sister. So even if Ron doesn't develop a crush on her, Harry doing so feels very weird to me.

What if Draco marries a muggle-born? Like someone he met when he fully drops his pureblood beliefs and decided to make a visit in the muggle-world to see how everything works. Then possibly meets someone who is an activist or is an outspoken individual, because that was one of the interests Draco picks up when he released Dobby from slavery.
I feel like Draco cutting his pureblood bloodline and fully destroying the beliefs his father and the wizarding world built in him makes sense for me.

It’s less what happens if he sorted into Ravenclaw, and more what would happen if Petunia married a scientist/college professor (who’s a much better person than Vernon).
Harry ending up in Ravenclaw was a direct result of that change

If you liked HPMOR, I suggest the Prince of Slytherin series. It has more changes than just Harry switching house, but most of the original content is really good and the plot just as engaging as in this video, if not more.

Yup, I am now adopting this as my canon. It's just so much more nuanced, and fitting to the "it doesn't matter where we came from, but what we choose to do" message of the series.

I love this version, especially where Harry is the DADA teacher. It fits him so much better than an Auror. Although I really thought you were going to say he was the flying teacher! That would've been the best fit for Harry. And Draco as DADA teacher?? Draco's use of DADA was very advanced in this series. I'd have liked to see the trio become friends with Malfoy, and as colleagues as Professors, it would've fit. I'm lol-ing that Harry has to reassure Albus that it'll be ok if he's in Gryffindor, while his wife and best friend were Gryffindors lol.
Also, would the readers know what Voldemort was saying in Parselmouth? Since his bit in Harry would've died? And readers are following Harry's POV. (At the part when Hagrid is holding Harry)
Since harry used in this verision of the serise parseltongue so many times (like in the start and the end of any the da meetings) he may start to remember the meaning of the words by himself, like ron hearing how harry opened the locket was enough for him to open the chamber, so if harry was using this so many times more wouldnt he just learn to diffrent between words ? Hard to tell

Someone out there that is decent at fanfics needs to write this story - all books, exactly the way it was stated here. Please. Of course there will need to be filler to make it into full books such as common room banter, new side characters, Quidditch match details, etc. It's Harry Potter but cranked to 11, Draco's arc being amazing and the Basilisk being used by Harry is just epic.
Edit: just like the movies, this will become a yearly watch for me for sure. You done a fantastic job on this buddy, the amount of research and making sure there wasn't a contradiction, just wow. It's a work of art.
Edit 2: If this fanfic actually comes into existence in written form, I want this dude to read the whole thing to us as a series.

I watched this series as it came out and it was really good like that but I am loving having this on in the background as I do other things and listening to the whole thing.
Cedric in the fourth book was a 7th year and that means he cannot be in hogwarts for his 8th year

The good thing about Harry being in Slytherin, Ron isn't pushed asside by everyone else, nor does he live in Harry's shadow. He is his own man this time, making his own mark. Everything would be better for him, because he isn't trying so hard
Hold up, not sure if I missed something but where would Malfoy have learned of Sectumsempra (1:32:18)? In this version Harry never uses it on him and I thought everybody left Snape to be alone when Harry used it on him. I wouldn't think Malfoy would even know of the spell at all.

I miss Neville though. In the books it explains that he just as easy could have fulfilled the prophecy but it was Harry because that is how Voldemort interpreted it. But in the end when Neville defeated Nagini in a way he did fulfill the prophecy of defeating him

Definitely one of my favorite fan fiction series, really wish this was a full book. Interesting route that Malfoy ended up taking, he did kind of get a Redemption Arc in the main timeline in the eighth book, but not quite and I feel like this just solidifies it a lot more that he truly is a good person
