Gosh, this is horrid. I remember when I did my pediatric rounds at a school, even children around the age of 13 mentioned using insulin for weight loss, and some of them were as young as 6 years old, afraid to eat whole eggs and opted out for egg whites. Needless to say, there was a huge presentation to help these children understand proper food management and portion sizes shortly after.
Weighed 281 and was prescribed Ozempic by my weight Loss Clinic Doctor. 10 years ago emergency double bypass. 1 year later after starting the drug, with gym 3 times a week, I've lost 45 lbs. At 70, I'm now in the best shape of my life, since my teen years. There may someday be side effects, then again, I could get hit by a bus crossing the street. I, for one, think it is worth it, for me.
Thanks for your thoughts! It sounds like you've weighed the pros and cons and in your situation it may very well be the best choice.
How often did you take the medication?
@@poodledaddles1091 once a week, 2Mg
@@Katherine_Ann yes I agree with I have 2 healthy friends on it strictly for weight loss!! One has lost 50 pds size 2 and still on it .dr gave it to her and she does not pay crazy amt gave her coupons for a 25 $ shot!! Same thing with other friend except she is on monjaurno she gets the 25 $ coupons also but cannot move up to a higher dosage bc she cannot tolerate it. Went to ER due to bacteria in her gut. WOMEN WILL SELL THEIR SOULS TO THE DEVIL TO LOSE WEIGHT…..
Medications have been prescribed ‘off label’ by physicians since there were medications.
I believe a prescription is between a Dr. and their patient.
As for supply issues; if this medication is truly in such short supply and diabetic patients are at such a risk, why is the company that produces this medication advertising it’s benefit of weight loss in its commercials?
I am not trying to start a fight or upset folks. I am just noting what I am seeing and now my curiosity has me looking at all points of views.
Take care. ✌️
I appreciate your thoughts!
And all the stuff in the past year coming out about celebrities using it to get thin. Probably working to create higher demand, so therefore less supply and prices skyrocket
I am a type 2 diabetic and my doctor prescribed ozempic. I can not get it filled due to back stock. Pretty sad I can’t even get it due to other non diabetics wanting to just lose weight.
Wow, I'm sorry to hear that, James. That is sad, such a shame.
I am very glad i have finally got through this chronic pains % Diabetes , Thank you Drdodoyi on youtube💯....
I have to book mine 3 weeks in advanced in Ireland due to the shortage. It’s crazy the demand for this drug. It’s been huge positive change on my life
I can help you James
😅😅😅😅
I take Ozempic and I have Type 2 Diabetes. Today was so challenging to get my prescription filled. Each pharmacy I called didn't have it in stock. Those who take this medication outside of treating/managing diabetes are so cruel and selfish.
I just went thru this yesterday. I’m heavy I’m 230 at 5’5 5’6 and I would love to loose weight BUT AT 37 I would love to have normal blood sugar MORE!
I was crying and it’s been horrible trying to get approved and then trying to find it
So, blame towards the manufacturers who have been aware of people using Ozempic for weight loss for 18 months. Blaming people who are trying to improve their lives with an FDA approved drug to lose weight and not a thing to say to the clowns making the stuff. You people are nasty AF.
If you have not been diagnosed with diabetes then you shouldn't take it. There are other medications that are for weight loss. However, Ozempic is not one of them. The manufacturer have one for weightloss. That's what need to be prescribed. Not something that others need to stay alive.
You do know other diabetic drugs exist right?
Amazing video, Katie! Love this one
Thank you, Faith!!
Really enjoyed this video bringing in main stream culture and pharmaceutical research 🧐
This doesn't surprise me one bit. Ozempic isn't that new. Endocrinology has been prescribing it for a while now (for type 2 diabetes). Family history of thyroid cancer was a contraindication. Patients often demanded levothyroxine for weight loss too when their thyroid hormone levels were normal. 🙄 It was a constant battle.
Hi Katherine Ann,I'm William commenting your videos watching them,The CPR Hands only was helpful to me to learn how to do it independently even someone suffers from cardiac arrest
Hi William! Thank you for watching!
@@Katherine_Ann its been a pleasure,It's nice meeting you as well,XD
I am struggling with my weight and was considering this as a silver bullet… but thyroid cancer is a biggie.
Serious side effects are definitely a consideration that needs to be made!
I’m pre diabetic and my doctor put in my prescription last year in December 2022!! Im just now able to get my prescription March 2023!! Ridiculous 😩 people are really abusing it for weight loss.
Wow, that's a shame how delayed that is!
I am type 2. I’m already on Metformin and Januvia and have been for years. My primary felt I could benefit from Ozempic as blood sugar has been slowly increasing. He warned me that after a few months Ozempic may be in short supply simply because (affluent) people are abusing this drug and those who actually need it may just be outta luck. Good old Americans can find a way to abuse anything no matter the consequences. Our new normal.
Thanks for sharing!
Yes they are!! Can’t get my script filled. For diabetes it decreases risk for the heart complications.
Thanks for watching!
I am type one diabetic at first I was absolutely appalled by it because I know first hand not having your meds right away can affect us greatly to the point of hospitalization or worse. I understand for people who are boarded line diabetic who are on this to lose weight to prevent diabetes I support bc this condition is tough to live with. However people who are using just to lose weight to have a beach body I am concerned for because it can harm them by probably messing their own body’s way of producing insulin and breaking down glucose I am more concerned for type 2 bc it definitely hurts their blood sugar control when their bodies now depends on it. Some type 2 are having a hard time getting it and haven’t had their meds since the summer. Which can lead to serious complications. It’s like there are cancer meds that make you lose weight and if Hollywood was taking that their would be more of a uproar ( disclaimer don’t do it ).
In general I (for me) feel or how it comes across that diabetes is a joke disease and that we asked for it, which is not true. I have been diabetic shamed, had security at a cups game as a child called on me bc I was using a needle in the bathroom, i been told that diabetics are inconsiderate. It has caused me to be depressed and anxiety. Um I had to leave multiple jobs bc they didn’t understand that I have to take multiple breaks to check my bs. Now that I am a new mom having a hard time putting myself first before my babies.
Overall if you don’t have a well working pancreas it screws up every in of your body.
If anyone have any questions about diabetes, how I was diagnosed feel free to ask or ask a diabetic in your life.
Sorry I misspelled cubs
Thanks for the comment!
If celebrities/people are stupid enough to take medication they don’t really need to lose weight when they are already skinny, they deserve the health problems they get.
I’ve had health issues since childhood (cancer) and I like to say “health is wasted on the healthy”.
Thanks for watching, Carey. I wouldn't wish negative side effects on anyone, but they are putting themselves at risk.
Type 2. 4 months in. $3lb weight loss with diet and exercise. No diabetes meds for 3 months. A1C last week was 5.2 not even a prediabetic a1c.. I haven't had a problem yet getting it in my area but my concern is that it will be and then what? go back on insulin again?
Good questions to consider!
No- just do keto and exercise w/metformin if necessary. Your A1c is in good shape! The fact of the matter is you need to go little to no carb. I’m surprised you ever had to do insulin with your amazing A1c, honestly. I’m at an 8.4 right now, on Metformin and sometimes keto. Going to use the Ozempic until my numbers are around where you are at, and then go keto again and Metformin. The goal is to go no carbs, something I struggle with. Carbs, starches convert to sugar. Trying to get the liver/pancreas under control, bring down the blood sugars. Ozempic is not something you have to use the rest of your life, but Metformin is. But- dropping the body weight will help your body regulate better. Which is what I’m trying to do. Got to have a goal! 🤗
I have a family
Member who is taking this medication. She had gestational diabetes and is pre diabetic. Even though her doctor prescribed it to her to manage her pre diabetes, I know that her intention was to lose weight, she is at a normal weight for her bmi after taking it but she wants to be very thin. When I heard of this drug I knew that it was too good to be true. It is sad how people have to risk their health and take a medication that is not for them because they want to fit in. The side effects are quite scary. I am finding that more younger people are getting cancer and things like this are contributing to this issue.
It would be nice if you made a video on the rise of cancers in younger people, especially cancers where people have to be a certain age to get regular screenings, like how we can reduce or prevent this issue.
Thanks for sharing! That's an interesting topic, I'll look into doing something on that. Thank you for the suggestion!
I wish we could just create a fad where healthy, normal body weight for the persons frame is considered the “it” thing. Also, maybe throw some weight lifting and cardio in there so people maintain their personal fitness. Oh, and healthy foods that are used to sustain our bodily functions and metabolic health. Let’s just make health a trend. It doesn’t matter how skinny or curvy you are, everyone is built different and some people are at their healthiest very thin, others require some more weight around their hips.
Thanks for your thoughts, Mellissa! I absolutely agree!
@@Katherine_Ann How did you know her name? Ohhhh right, because these are all bot comments 😅😅
@@chkzz8758 well I think she changed her name... because it was Melissa 😂
Keep working and let's get hit by a vibration
If I taint you would u be angry
"Risking others lives for weight loss" yeah, cause obesity isn't life threatening. You want to whine and complain at people for using an FDA approved drug, then go cry and complain to the manufacturers who have been aware of this rise for 18 months.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I’m pre diabetic. Doctor prescribed me this a week ago, he said it’s not for everybody, so no, not everybody can just go in the doctor’s office and get it, they do blood work on you and thyroid testing, it’s a process.
Thanks for sharing your experience, Yadira.
Same, pre diabetic and had blood work done to confirm and look at thyroid and kidney function. My insurance is covering this drug otherwise I wouldn't be able to afford it.
I know people that went in for weight loss only and got prescribed. It depends on your doctor. Some are just here to make money. I believe that’s why the people who aren’t obese that I know and are not pre diabetic or diabetic for prescriptions
Hi katherine Ann.. I am the first one to comment you👍
Thank you for watching!
Congrats👍Sis, please do check the email also and feed me back also🙏
Hallo my sis, how are you doing? I hope you are doing good by the God Grace🙏Any way i missed you so much and God bless you, 🙏
😲
Problem is when ppl stop taking said drug…they gain the weight
That's definitely something to consider!
I was wondering that.
Change your life habits while your on it. Common sense.
Even worse is the actual mechanism of action. It forces your body to produce *MORE* insulin. High insulin will kill you in any number of ways...cancer, heart disease, dementia...the list goes on.
I have type 2 diabetes. Ozempic works by slowing down the emptying of your stomach contents or digestion. I was OK for the first two months and then I started bringing back undigested food, so I stopped taking it and soon felt better. I now take semiglutide in tablet form. I have been taking them for 3 weeks, 3mg daily and am now going to go to 7mg daily. I haven't felt sick with the tablets as yet and am hoping that 7mg will be just the same. I can't say I've lost very much weight, but I have dropped a few pounds, as the medication lowers your appetite. Not sure why anyone would want to feel nauseous to loose weight, I just do it because of the diabetes and the health risks that, that brings with it 🤷♀️
Thanks for sharing!
I already stopped it. It didn't help my glucose
Absolutely not. Remember obesity ( genuine) is a true diagnosis and if this drug helps reduce patient’s BMI it is a great thing. My brother in law lost 100 lbs and probably saved his life. In other countries it costs 1/5 of the price.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Gracie!
Obesity kills just as many people as diabetes... medications are used for off label uses all the time. That's like saying trazodone shouldn't be given to patients that have trouble sleeping at night because they aren't depressed... trazodone has less side effects than sleep aids according to a lot of patients. People need help loosing weight and will end up with diabetes if they dont.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Believe it or not, the high blood sugars I use to have made me lose 120 lbs.
Wow!
If your friend needed an enema would you give them one and would you wear gloves
Hm. That's quite the interesting question, Richard. What would you do?
@@Katherine_Ann honestly I’m a CNA right now so I’m not sure if i would say yes I probably would lol
I am very glad i have finally got through this chronic pains % Diabetes , Thank you Drdodoyi on youtube💯....
I'm type 2 and have to wait a week to get this medication until CVS gets in stock.
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Diabetic patients have heaps of medications available to them and their lives are continuing during the shortages. Convenience factor much? Lost 5kg in 4 weeks. Happier than ever.
You are ABSOLUTELY right! These people crying about others trying to lose weight but not angry with the manufacturers who've been aware of it for almost two years. They're selfish
This is not “a medication you have to be on for life”. For the continued effect, yes, is that the only way to keep the weight off? No!
You are cheering picking and shouldn’t be producing information that will influence people’s medical conditions, especially when it is false.
Hi Jay, thanks for watching. I'm sorry if you didn't agree with what I was saying. I was just trying to provide some objective information.
Weightloss is literally an off the label use and the company markets it as such....this is a very ignorant take, as if obesity isn't a health concern. Many diabetics are literally diabetics because the didn't resolve obesity. Treating the root cause could be better than treating the chronic complications. And its not even $1300+ a month....as if diabetics have no other options.
