I'm really happy you just cleaned this beautiful anvil up and didn't kill it like I have seen other people do to perfectly good anvils and ruin them because they don't have a clue. Cheers and good job man
This guy is total clickbait... I’ve been watching his videos for awhile now and he doesn’t die in any of them! Not even major/minor injuries. I kept watching to see if the carnage increases over time, nope - total waste of time...
Excellent work👍👍👍. Thanks for sharing. Every time I watch a anvil restoration I think of Bugs Bunny cartoons. LOL @ 😱😱1:18 your wife comes out and asks "What are you doing?" you reply "restoring my anvil" and she goes "stop stroking your horn! the neighbours are watching" LOL 🤣🤣
Over the Top! Without the aid of your Super Hero your restorations may fall short?!? That Feckless Miscreant does come in handy to heft a 170 pound Anvil, although early on he was caught sleeping in the job; or I mean Anvil! Bravo to the both of you Mate. One hell of a job! ...Newk from Kentucky USA
Awesome video as usual!! Thanks for fixing it up properly and not making it absolutely perfect. No need to have perfectly machined surfaces on something that is going to get beat up when properly used...
That's a great feeling isn't it?! To take an old anvil and bring it back to life. I just purchased a Swedish Kohlswa M2066 Farrier anvil. It was covered in surface rust but in near immaculate condition. I took a wire wheel to it and I'm not sure there's any more I can do to improve it's appearance. I ordered some Evaporust Gel but not sure I'll need it now. Close to mint 125# Kohlswa: $150. 😁
Well done 👍 I never considered the amount of effort involved in restoring an anvil before. Heck, I though all anvils started out beaten up. Now I know!
I'd love to have an anvil that nice. But it definitely deserves to be with someone so practiced at horn polishing. Great video, cant wait to see you put that anvil to use!
@@DiesInEveryFilm dang if it does I need to get my anvil on TV...alot. it could stand another 100 or so lbs...er uh 50 kilos, yeah yeah 50 kilos. Damned if that dont sound like dope deal gone wild ROFLMAO 🙏be blessed now yall Crawford out 🧙♂️
Beautiful. I have a 70 lbs Kohlswa. It's my favorite anvil even though it's not my biggest anvil. I really wish I could find one closer to the size of the one you have.
I've been smithing off and on since I studied it in college. And I got the 70 lbs one after I graduated. I've been around a lot of anvils. Used a lot of them. Including some really big ones. But the Kohlswa has still ultimately been my favorite. It's perfect for knife making as is. But I'd love to have a much bigger one. Say 150-200 lbs? Just for bigger work than knives.
Yeh the rebound is so much more than my other anvil and it certainly is going to suit knife making I cannot wait to use it. May have to build a nice stand for it 1st tho.
170 lbs, that's just 5 lbs short of my weight! Man now talking about showing that anvil some love, I'm not one to judge but I hope the misses doesn't get jealous! Never grow up mate, I love the comic relief!
There is an anvil almost identical to this in my backyard, it was my grandfather's anvil and he was a smith in the late 1800s. He was originally from Sweden. I use it to forge my knives.
Cracking job, and what a beauty.. Just love you're video. So entertaining and full of great how to's. Looking forward to seeing it in use.. Cheers Onur 🖖😁
Nicely made restoration! This anvil dates back to the earlier half of the 1900´s, judging by the markings on it. Later on they made them with protruding markings. Just a curious little fact that you might enjoy :) Greetings from Sweden!
I was going to comment on how GREAT your restoration skills are but it goes without saying, your “Pissing” skills supersede your restorations!!....HAHAHA
Also for the life of me I cannot find the video where you away your arms back and fourth and run into your shop and the one where you move your head in and outa the camera shaking the spray paint You didn't happen to delete it right?
Dude......I'd love to find something like that. Seems like every anvil here in the states has a $700 price tag on it. Or it's so mangled that you can't use it and they still want $400 for it.
@@DiesInEveryFilm I ended up buying a new production farriers anvil. I had been looking for over 7 years for a large old world anvil. I like my 70 lb anvil, but man would I love to stumble on a full size one like yours. You do great work. The trick with using the router table to shape knife scales was genius!!
Hmmm. Not sure if it's heavy enough! Ya shoulda dropped it in a 55 gal drum of evaporust. Bahaha. I'm sure some girls would be offended but I thought it was hilarious!
Hahahahaha well maybe next time but only to make the video that extra bit boring and so i can spend lots of money on something to use it once. I promise

Yeh mate I wanted it clean and like it was but didn’t see the need in rewelding or grinding the edges as they are fine for now.

Ahh cool man, not sure on the date of this one but it’s definitely old.
In willing to bet those holes behind the hardy were for a bending die. Would make sense in a farm shop.

NICE HARD BANGY ON THING, hope you finish fixing the surface edges
Thanks mate. Surface is nice and flat and the edges are good enough to use so didn’t want to ruin its hardness messing with that
are you going mount it on more iron?
It’s on an anvil stand i made
How's your shop coming along or did I miss something?
It’s good mate but I recently had a child so its on hold for now till he gets older. I did update on my community tab and on my social media pages
@@DiesInEveryFilm Oh. I did miss something. Congrats on the little one! I can wait. But just barely. =)

It’s got a good surface i still use it now
Beautiful!!
Thanks buddy
Not for nothing but who paints a work surface on an anvil? What was this a paperweight before you got it?
not paperweight, gateweight
Strange isn’t it and yeh was propping open a gate haha
