Great job! A couple of comments from an ex-blacksmith if you don't mind. One, the stump has to sit perfectly flat and the anvil has to sit perfectly flat on the stump. Two, I'd rather have a perfectly flat face on the anvil than a polished one. Keep up the good work, and buy some boots! 😁
I loved the fact that you shielded our eyes from the welding flash but also surreptitiously advertised your brand in the process creative thinking like that will get you everywhere ..lol i will be back i subbed
nice work, but I think the anvil sits too low, it looks like you were bending over while hammering. And since the surface of the anvil isn´t smooth, I would prefer something like Hammerite as paint.
Should've spent more time on the base. Like making a new one. Putting a chain around in was good. One thing that you didn't do was secure the anvil to the stand
A question. Why is it very often around an anvil either a large chain or a (motorcycle) chain or the same as here wrapped around and attached to the anvil? Is there a special reason for this? I would be happy if someone could help me in this regard and give the reason provided there is a reason ...
it adds to the overall mass of the anvil. The more mass the better absorption of the hammer blow. The ring and rebound of the hammer on the anvil means that energy is being sent back into the hammer rather than being placed fully into the anvil or the object that you are trying to forge. This is why many people attach an anvil to something like this video did. The reality with this video, is that they would benefit from using a rubberized caulk in addition, as it creates a better connection of the anvil to the other mass, and that rubberized material will also absorb the blow rather than sending it back up to the hammer.
@@kdkrueger112 Thank you, my friend, for your clarification, it is informative and now I understand it too, since I never had to deal with this type of matter, that really interested why and why that with the heavy chain etc. again, thank you very much, it was nice of you enlighten me ... see you then
Thank you for 100k subscribers 😍😍😍🤩🤩

I saw a lot of times, that there is a chain in the anvil; lik in this case, can you tell me why?
@@o.sz.a.2128 It stops the anvil from ringing. That noise can be very annoying after a few hours.
@@johnthemainguy9059 thanks :)

Superb restoration, image they conversations that have happened around that anvil since it was first made, would be interesting if it could talk 😊
Tank you from the Brazil
A good bed of silicone would take a lot of the ring out of it. Nice find and restoration!
A lot of work but we'll worth it. Thanks

Good job mate.
Very good boy

amazing workmanship well done what was them sanding pads you were using 👍
👌
If you put a rubberized caulking on the bottom of the anvil it it'll help stop the ringing
That's a Russia cast steel anvil sold by harbor freight 20 years ago. Got three of them in trades over the years.
really good job on the restoration of that anvil

I read that bar magnets stuck to the sides of the base middle and the underside of the base reduces vibration/ringing.
Wonder how many grinding discs he went through
looks like a possesed anvil to me..... they even put chain like those were put there to seal the demon inside.
joking hahahhhaa
great video man.
How much weight was removed?
Really Amazon Brother. Enjoyed alot. Congratulations on 100k. Best Wishes From Mister Family.

Why would you put your logo over the spot welder?
I call that a clean up ! Not a restoration. Good job on saving that old anvil.
What's the chain for? Bling?
for tuning the sound of the anvil

$100? Lucky you
You should’ve used a 7018 rod instead of that crappy 6011.
Silicone the anvil to the stump, it will take the ring out
Why did you do all that work jest to pant it
100 dollars great find not in the US, Cost way more than that here
I picked one up for a hundred bucks a month ago.
