I love these old GTs. I listed after them as a kid. There was a GT/Dyno bike shop near me that I hung around far to much as a kid. I remember seeing these beauties new on the showroom floor.

Cool vid man. It was strangely moving. I got my red timberline in 97 just up the road from where you filmed (Hedgehog or it might have be Pins back then). It’s been my commuter to uni, did my first road race on it :), toured all over SE Asia on it now it’s over here in Melbourne with a baby seat on it for riding the kids round. Thanks for making this video bro!

Funny how this vid popped in my feed on here, glad it did!

I dunno why but I always loved this frame design. So tempted to try and find one and do my own build. I have a Giant 4130 frame set to build, I was thinking I would strip the paint off and polish it, but the paint is so nice! It’s near mint!
Edit: I have found one, and also another stupid project I’ll be doing too. Cannot wait to finish my GT and I don’t even have it here yet!

Hi 👋, the bike that I am building is my old Dawes Chilliwack , it was a three by eight but now with the aid of a single speed conversion kit, it will be a single speed with a set of SE racing BMX cruiser handlebars that have a six inch rise and like I mentioned before I just need the v-brakes for it and this is my fault when I ordered the parts I forgot them but I still think 🤔 it will be a really good ride.

Just a thought. they also look great. although the best would be a mid 90's Peugeot fork. they may have called it the bulge fork or something like that. Hard to find in threadless in my neck of the woods as a Peugeot was a rare thing with one. most had threaded 1 1/8 steer tubes. but the ride on them forks is epic.

Great video. What did you use to remove surface rust? Also, what is the lubricant you use?
    Thank you

A bit of both really, I mainly build them for personal interests but I realised I can’t keep them all 😓 so I occasionally pop some up for sale when I’ve got new builds in the works
