+Al Furtado (Wood Turning) Hi Al, Oh but you are a star my friend... I'm not the only person who thinks so... There's loads of people who watch you and think exactly the same as I do! :)
+Garry Cottee Me patient? LOL I don't even let glue dry up LOL Anyone has to have more than me it's a matter of using the time with turning between centers.
Bom trabalho Al! I knew you had to be Portuguese. Your accent reminded me of my father who was an amazing woodworker in his own right. I could watch him all day. I love watching your channel and your amazing creations. You have inspired me to maybe try my hand at wood turning hopefully in the near future. Nao pares suas criacoes!
Thank you very much my friend. I am glad to see you liked it. Munto obrigado amigo You had a great Dad if I remind you of him because I know I am a great person LOL. Ate outra vez.
As soon as the video started, I got all excited, it was like a discovery channel shark week special!! Where are the sharks man!!?? :) I know how eager you to turn and not mess about gluing and you're loosing your patience, but man, is it worth it, the start was beautiful and I always appreciate your stave bowls, and a little envy. Wish I could take a private face to face lesson with you so I'll be able to say I can make those too, as it is, alone, I'll probably wait a few more years before I get to trying :) Thank you for sharing Al!!
+Yuval Lahav Woodturning Oh my God LOL you are a true wood turner getting that excited over a video LOL. You better take a few aspirins. Well I figure if I make a few more it will entice you to start making some. It's not nearly as bad as I might make it sound like. things just fall in place. I will wait to see yours soon.
+Al Furtado (Rebel Turner) For me, saying "soon" means anything from 5 minutes to a few years man :) got too much on my plate at the moment, but I'll get there, soon ;)
looks great Al...may have to stop watching your videos making me think I can do that too...lol just kidding my friend would not stop waching...want to be like you when I grow up...keep on turning...
Nice bowl AL. I just got a new blade for my old 1954 craftsman band saw. I am going to make me a jig so I can try to make a star for what my lathe will allow.
Looking good there AL, you know it I love the shine of the maple. What would I do different? I'm glade you asked (hehe) nothing well maybe the base could be just a-bit thinner. Just kidding don't "change" a thing... LoL
That came out great how much time from start to fin I bet a lot of hrs The coin idea is nice touch it would be nice if they were all the year you was born just a thought Take care my friend
+Charlie Wood The segmenting part and glue to the faceplate was fast probably took me 40 min total. the making of the star took about 20 min. Turning the bowl took 3 hours + 3 hours of glue to cure enough. so in actual work I would say about 4 or 5 hours
99% of the time I use OB shine juice. the mix for that is, 1/3 shellac, 1/3 denatured alcohol and 1/3 boiled linseed oil. I hope that helps.Take care merry Christmas
