Oaxaca City is known as the gastronomy capital of Mexico. We showcase some of the most popular Oaxacan foods as well as the traditional Oaxacan drinks

One of the most popular Oaxacan markets is the Mercado 20 de Noviembre in the center of Oaxaca.
Check the meat grilling every day in the grilling hallway known as passillo de carnes asadas.
Tasajo is one of the cut of meats unique to Oaxaca. Take it to go or order it and eat it at one of the comedor of the market.

which month did you visited?
We’re trying to visit in November, and don’t find a lot of information on the internet, besides the “orange flag” for covid19.
Hi Christian, thank you! We're still in Oaxaca at the moment. November is a great time to visit. Yes it's good to follow the Oaxaca state information on the current phase they're in. With the orange, most of the restaurants are open with limited capacity, markets are open, but the villages are still closed to outsiders. Tours are very limited. So it depends what you are planning to do here. You can also find info on the FB expat group but the conversation there has been a bit negative with the pandemic so not always the best place to have constructive discussion...You can check our other videos on Oaxaca (memelas and tlayudas) as well as our website for further food and travel tips www.authenticfoodquest.com hope it helps!
Dia de Muertos festivities in Oaxaca Centro (and activities at cemeteries in outlying villages) have been officially cancelled for 2020. This was decided by officials within the past week due to Corona virus and attempts to social distance/stop spread of the virus.
