is it worth renting a car to drive towards the outskirts of the City for hiking and Stuff?
One of the many reasons that Oaxaca is worth visiting is that the city provides some of the most exquisite accommodation in Mexico. The city itself is warm and welcoming- perfectly safe for any travelers- and the array of hotels available are all designed to make sure that your experience in the city is second to none!
Agreed, Oaxaca is amazing 👍
It may be may be safe but warm and welcoming not my experience. But each person has their own experience and what they seem as welcoming. People didn't seem friendly at all.
Interesting, I got drunk last night and booked a house here on Airbnb. So now I’m watching this video
Hahah I hope it helped you to plan some activities in Oaxaca 🤪☀️🇲🇽
Hope to see you there booked my flight
how was it?
@@MikeGProductions It’s amazing here, nice break from super touristy Cancun/Playa area. Everyone is very nice. I’m sitting on the patio now drinking a beer and looking at the mountains. This is our first trip we didn’t stay in a luxury hotel or condo, just some random ranch house way up in the mountains which is exactly what I wanted this trip.
R u still there
Lived in Oaxaca 5
Years. Always something to do exciting
Incredible city!!
I went to Oaxaca three times I love Oaxaca I'm obsessed with it 💗💘
We also LOVE it!
Super videography and editing. Very inspiring. Peace
Thanks for watching ☺️
Big thumbs up! I've been to Oaxaca two times, and have just scratched the surface. Your content has places I was totally unaware of... and I've seen a lot of videos on the city! Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks! 😊 Maybe you can visit them next time around!
What an amazing blend of history culture and food love your videos
Thanks ☺️ our favorite city in Mexico!!!
Your videos are great thank you!
Thanks for watching! 😊
LOOKS AMAZING!
We loved Oaxaca (and this video)! Travelers should be aware that, in the winter, it can get very cool at night at that elevation (8-12 degrees C; daytime highs; 20-24). I was very happy to have the puffy jacket I was wearing when I left Canada (we bough gloves there). I would go back in an instant! Another recommendation: the Sunday Indigenous mercado at Tlacolula (you can catch a colectivo taxi near the stadium).
Thanks!! It’s our favorite city in Mexico. We were more lucky with the weather, even the evenings were pleasant! It was a lot colder in San José del Pacífico which is a few hours away from Oaxaca! 😄 we drove through Tlacolula and heard about the market! Good suggestion 👍
Never disappoints! GREAT VIDEO
Thanks again!! ☺️
EXCELLENT VIDEO and your cinematography is amazing!
Thanks so much 🥰! Oaxaca is a beautiful city to film in 😇
Oaxaca muy bonito sus costumbres y tradiciones
Absolutely!
Love your videos too! Nicely done. Thank you 😊
Thanks 🥰
I’m flying over this week on the 18th for the first time🎉 thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching! You’ll have an amazing time ☺️
Awesome magical place!
Agreed 😍
WOW!!! Simply wow! I must visit now!
Thanks! yes you should, Oaxaca city is amazing!! :)
Go somewhere else. These people are not friendly. Even the vendors at the markets are not as friendly as my experiences in other parts of mexico and the Dominican republic. I felt invisible to them. Didn't feel welcomed at all. Met a few nice taxi drivers but I had to break the ice with them and initiate a conversation. Another couple who does UA-cam videos who stayed in mexico for over 15 months expressed this as the very reason why they left Oaxaca and couldn't call home. Boy were they right!
@@aurorarene9909 can you give me a link to their video?
Thank you for the idea of the free walking tour. The guide spoke perfect english. wow.
Yes he had some British roots 👍
I’m so glad I came across this page
Thank you!
Son hermosos lugares 🌠🌠👍
Muy hermoso 😍
Oaxaca is the place!!
Agreed!
It looks like a very nice destination for an adventure for couples
Absolutely! Also a great city for foodies and culture seekers 😄
Great video, it is the ultimate video on Oaxaca one can find in UA-cam
Thanks! 😊 Oaxaca is such an incredible city!
Great video thanks it was very helpful
Thanks for watching!😁
Was there October. Hierve had been closed all Pandemic. So tours were highly anticipated.
We heard about that! It had opened again when we were there
Great video on an amazing place

Thanks!
I love Oaxaca!
We love it too 🥰
@@worldwildhearts 🥰
Thank you
Thanks for watching! ☺️
I will be going solo there for a week from California, USA. It looks so fun, but Im terrified! I appreciate the video! I'd love safety tips and some cultural tips as well. I will be going during the Dia de los Muertos celebration. Cheers!
Don’t be terrified! It’s an amazing city and we felt so safe ☺️ have a great time there! You’ll enjoy the festivities
Oaxaca is one of the safest places in Mexico
wE DONE THE RUINS AT MONTE ALBAN TOO!!! great vlog thank you! subscribing
Thanks!! 🥰 Monte Alban was surprising! Didn’t expect it to be so cool!!
Hi Zack and Ine,
First of all, a very big compliment for your channel, in one word fantastic!!!
I have a UA-cam channel myself (St.MarcFishing), so I know what it takes to put a film together properly, in terms of images, sound, editing and storyline, as well as meaningful, useful information to serve the viewer. You do that very well.
I have already seen several videos from your channel, such as the Colombia tour and Chiapas and so on. Almost all videos related to Mexico.
We are going to emigrate to that beautiful country in April '24 (we are building 2 beach houses, Tulum jungle and Xpu Ha jungle, as well as establishing a self-sufficient community on a large piece of land near Merida) and your videos make me really want to go on some trips and use your useful information and very practical planners for that, GREAT!
Thank you very much for sharing your adventures and information, we have saved your channel as a favorite. Ps. Your cinematography and editing-skills are awesome, they inspire me.
Keep it up!
Marc, Natascha, Jasmijn, from Nederland (future Mexicans...).
Groetjes & dank ook aan Ine, uit Belgie. Ga zo door!
Thank you for the kind words! I guess you'll be moving around this time to Mexico. Good luck with your new home in paradise! 😄
@@worldwildhearts definitely!
This was a great video! I’m travelling to Mexico City and Oaxaca this summer so it’s good to see.
Did you experience any issues at Oaxaca airport? I ask because I’ve read poor reviews so just wanted to get some advice.
We didn't have any problems at the airport. What kind of experiences are people referring to? Just be careful with scams, but that's anywhere at the airport. Don't just believe what people say because some might want to scam you, like taxi drivers or so.
My family and I are currently in zihuatenjo, and are heading to mexico city next. I think we will be passing through later this year.
Nice! Mexico city is great! You definitely should pass by Oaxaca City!
@@worldwildhearts We really like your content. We have just started. Globalgillaspie on youtube. We have two kids and an overlanding truck/rv. We really look forward to following yours. It is really great!
When did you go to Oaxaca? weather looks great
We were there last month! March 😃 the weather was GREAT!! It was warm but not too hot!
Thanks for the great video. I noticed that you’re wearing warm clothes in Pueblos Mancomunados - what time of the year did you visit? I’m visiting in November and now think I should pack some fleece layers.
We visited in March and yes it was pretty cold! Especially the evening was freezing as you’re so high up!
@@worldwildhearts Thank you!
Great video. Will you please share the name of the tour guides featured in the video?
We highly recommend Djannh (the tour guide from the free walking tour)! Not sure when he’s doing the tours but you can find a link to the free walking tour in the description.
He was very knowledgeable. The guide at Monte Alban disappointed a bit to be honest and I think you can find better guides!
Thank you so much for the video! Did you have any safety concerns?
We didn’t feel unsafe whatsoever. We stayed about 20 mins walking from the town center and walked home every day / evening! There might be some areas to avoid but if you stay in the center it should be all good 👍
@@worldwildhearts thank you so much for your response! 😀
Where did you find the prehistoric caves? I'm planning a trip and whenever I go to look near Mitla, I can't seem to find them or how I could get to them? Any advice?
Wonderful video! It's been so helpful in planning my trip!
Thanks for watching! 🤩 The caves are near Mitla, indeed hard to find on the internet and we only learned about them when we were in Mitla! You can find them on Google Maps, named Cuevas Prehistóricas de Mitla. Once you drive there, you'll see some signs to follow! We were the only tourists there for the day but our guide was amazing (he only spoke Spanish though).
I'm so grateful for your response! Thank you! Great information and good to know about the only Spanish tour guide. Sounds like an amazing off the beaten path adventure. I can't wait for this trip and thank you for helping us!
Theirs some supposedly near the village Benito Juarez was born ask the guides there he said something about it, and somewhere near mitla there was cave drawings I was gonna go but the road was closed
Thank you for this video. Would you happen to know anyone who does a night tour at the Xoco cemetery for Dia De Los Muertos
No idea, but maybe someone else who sees this comment can?!
Nice video! How did you guys move around Oaxaca? Taxi, Uber or did you rent a car, whats the best way to move around ?
Thanks! We did a bit of everything... rented a car to get to Hierve el Agua and Mitla, but took the public bus to get to Monte Alban and the Pueblos Mancomunados, and walked mostly around the city center as it's easy to walk. But took a few taxis at night!
My pa came from here. He’s told me crazy stories about his village.
Can only imagine the stories!
I just discovered your channel, excellent content and information, I'm surprised you don't have more support, I'll start following you on your other social networks
Thanks so much for the kind words and support 😊 it’s growing slowly but steadily!! 😄👍
excellent video. can i ask what vlogging camera?mic used and editor please. Cheers.
We use a canon eos 80D and a go pro hero 10. Editing via Final Cut Pro
@@worldwildhearts Great quality filmwork. Is the Canon used for most of the Video work? Or Go Pro ? I'm trying to decide what to get.
Cheers 👍
We use the canon for close-up shots and the go pro is more for action shots and the talking! We like the combination of both! And thanks ☺️
@@worldwildhearts Cheers for the response
What time of year were you there? What was the approximate temp of the water at the pools and air?
We were there in March/April! The weather was pretty warm (around 30 degrees Celsius every day!). Didn’t have a pool but it was warm enough to swim at Hierve el Agua (though the water was lukewarm there)
👍
Setup use Sherae...
Do you have any recommendations for car rentals?
We rented our car via a local company in the city center, they were called Ñuu Kava Renta de Autos. Didn't have any issues with them so can definitely recommend!
what is the name of the distillery that you went to? Did you go on your own or did you do a tour? If not with a tour, did you have to make a booking to come by?
We rented a car in Oaxaca City for the day and drove out there ourselves. The mezcalería was on the way to Hierve el Agua. It was a random spot along the road, not sure how it was called. You can just drop in, there are many local distilleries along that way! All very authentic, but not many actually speak English. Alternatively, you can book a day tour to Hierve El Agua that includes a tour of a mezcalería.
This city looks similar to a town in my homeland 😍
Which one? ☺️

Trying to find a good safe place for my metata to visit because he said he wanted to visit Mexico
Oaxaca city seemed safe to us! Had no problems walking the streets
Been here 24 years.
Ho hum.
Where do you guys rented the car??
We rented ours from Ñuu Kava Renta de Autos
Ok looks nice but if you can’t trust the water how can you trust the food? Hmm…I don’t mean to be rude. Just watching.
The food is mostly fried which solves many of the concerns 🤣 we never had food poisoning there and the food in Oaxaca city is absolutely yummy, some of the best in the world (especially if you go to the nice restaurants)
Let's go to Oaxaca you guys won't regret this a place to visit one time in life
Absolutely!
THANKS. FANTASTIC VIDEO. WE ARE GOING TO BOOK. IT FOR NEXT YEAR
Hope you enjoy it!
I am in Oaxaca now and live down the street from the market. I went there today. walked around. It looks like a dump and ghetto to me. losts of graffitti and the people are so unfriendly, even the vendors. I tried to talk to two taxi drivers and they were rude and dismissive of what I was looking for. People won't look at you so they can avoid speaking. And many spoke only when I spoke to them. I came to visit during my two month stay in Puerto Vallarta because I heard so many good things about the city. So far I'm not seeing it. I have a few more days to experience more. I'll give another update.
Too bad... we really really loved the city. Maybe you should give it some more time to grown on you!
cartel
"EL"
can you get around via scooters
We didn’t rent one. It might be possible, but we didn’t see anyone do that.. it’s easy enough to get around the city by walking / taxi
yeup, that is what I did, lots of walking. I had a blast! Just returned on 9/30/23 🙂@@worldwildhearts
I will be there in may.
I am from Oaxaca and family has a house down there. Anyone need a place to stay dm me.
Must be a nice place to live!!

it kinda don't look like "southwestern" Mex to me lol
This is wer my parents wer boren in oxaca
I love it there
Awesome place! We loved it too... the food is to die for!!!
San Jorge ñuchita is wer my parents wer borne
Fun fact, in Oaxaca de Juarez you can find a taco restaurant called “Tacos Goku”. Thank me later, Dragon Ball fans ;)
Haha awesome!
@@worldwildhearts Maybe you can make a video in which you visit it someday. I read some reviews and the negative ones are very scarce.
Nice video . Your girlfriend is lucky ! You are really handsome :)
Hierve el Aqua is permanently closed to tourism due to a governmental dispute.
Is it closed again?! We were there in March 2022 and is was open… it had reopened in October 2021
My mistake! I was going on old info. Would love to visit this place!
It’s an amazing natural wonder
I am Mexican, I just returned from a 4 days trip to Oaxaca city, and I have to say it was very dissapointing to witness the total abandonement of the City. It is covered with graffiti (the bad kind), broken sidewalks, unattended homeless people, and in general no public care whatsoever. It is very obvious that the State and municipal authorities don’t care either about the City or the in habitants, in my opinion it does not deserve at all the title given by UNESCO as a world heritage site or even a “Pueblo Mágico” for that máster. Much better cities are QUERETARO, GUANAJUATO, MORELIA, ZACATECAS, MERIDA, PUEBLA.
It's sad you experienced it that way... we really found the opposite and had the best food in all of Mexico! Architecture wise it may not be perfect, but we find that a bit charming as well sometimes
I wonder if we are talking about the same city. I have been there 2 times and to me it was great, the city is nice, the food is great if not the greatest of all México. As a matter or fact I will be there tomorrow.
“Tlayuda is a Oaxaca version of pizza” 🤔 I don’t think so
That’s how the locals explained it to us! But of course it tastes very different
I don't mean this to be insulting; but you're deep inhaling was a bit distracting 😅😅
And here I thought it was sensual...😂
We are in a pandemic
If you go to Zipolite becaurfull Al night.
I went there and Manding, a drugadict stabbed me from behind.
It was 6 times.
Do not go to the drug zone.
😱😱 so sad to hear that! Hope you're all okay now?!
A tlayuda is not the mexican versión of pizza.....
That’s how Mexicans explained it to us… but of course it doesn’t taste like pizza
Don't forget to bring your own toilet paper!!
that's definitely something we always do!
It’s just Oaxaca not Oaxaca city
How, or where did you rent a car. My experience with renting cars in Mexico have n expensive with hidden fee’s and dishonest
We booked it via this local company in Oaxaca City: Ñuu Kava Renta de Autos (you can find directions on google maps). We just walked in one day and then booked a car for the day after. They were really friendly and we had a great experience. It was also pretty cheap!
Ciudad de Juarez, no? Also mescal sucks, eat a taco at a farmers market o el menu del dia!
you haven't tried the right mezcal then! ;)
Yoni
How safe is it really😊
It’s very safe! We mostly walked around and didn’t feel unsafe.
