I love this real time video. I started watching your videos in 2013 and I had the courage to start painting again. Thank you so much for the wonderful works of art and videos you share. I learn so much from them.
Hey Lena! I just wanted to tell you how much I loved your videos! I started teaching myself how to paint about 2 years ago, and in the last year I started using youtube to help me learn better techniques and understand color mixing and other helpful things. I came across your videos while searching how to paint skin tones, in your extremely helpful skin-tone mixing tutorial. You have no idea how much that video helped me. Ever since then I have kept up with your videos. Your time-lapse videos are some of my favorites. Even those have helped me to understand painting techniques better, even though I use acrylic instead of oil. Anyway, you have inspired me so much that I have started to film myself painting and will post my own time-lapse videos of what I paint. Just wanted to let you know how much you have inspired me and what an impact you have had on my development as a painter. Keep up the amazing work! I always love watching your videos!
Hello Lena. I enjoy following your charming and lively channel. This video is especially interesting. You've. created a really effective underpainting and the wonderful thing about oils is how one can build up layers of paint subsequently so that the colours become richer and subtler. Your finished paintings have a special character; lively, vibrant and sensual. Watching you on UA-cam is a treat.
you're amazing Lena! I love the print "barriers" I had ordered from you. I thought it was really nice of you to include a little gift with it. as well as the heart felt note, it made me feel really special. c:
Your process is amazing! I loved how you showed us how you choose your colors :) I've been learning oils by myself for a while now and your videos are a great resource and inspiration!
this helped me so much you dont even know. you are literally my inspiration in not only art, but your story in general just wants me to do better things in life and accomplish more goals
Thank you so much for sharing your art with us! I decided to begin painting oil after watching your videos, they are all well explained and they are helping me a lot! And you are so beautiful! Keep up with this amazing work. Fernanda, from Brazil :)
Very beautiful demonstration of your oil painting process - so nice to watch in Real time - the only thing I missed was your mediums in the two bowls - I only could hear gamsol - but really Well done and very informative and inspiring
Absolutely beautiful!! You are so talented! I like to paint abstract with acrylics. You inspire me to step out of my comfort zone and try oil painting. You make it look easy but I know talent is definitely required!! Wow amazing work!!! :)
OMG! Real time! Thank you for this Lena! 😊❤ I was just thinking of full versions, then this. Yehey sooo excited! Good morning from the Philippines, Lena!!
I'm glad to see someone who thinks it's ok to use a grid. I usually use a grid to get proportions right. I just draw the grid onto my sketch paper and then transfer the finished sketch onto canvas etc. But your way of drawing the grid onto canvas eliminates that extra stage.
Love Your Arts Lena ! Also love how You talk so fee and loving as You teach what You do ! Your amazing ! God bless You and Your Arts ! I pray that God keeps giving You more and more insight on Your beautiful arts ! :)
Love you lena ..u put so much of hard work in every painting i never realised that in time lapse vid ..pls make more such vid ..wud really appreciate..tysm✨🤗
that was such an interesting video, lena :) loved to get a close up / behind the scenes (whatever you might call it :D) of one of your amazing paintings!
I just found your channel and I am amazed at your talent. Your attention to detail is just awesome. I will be catching up for a little while. I Love the way you use a grid to keep the balance in perspective. I'm learning so much. BTW the word PHTHALO is correctly pronounced tha-lo so you are now saying it correct - not that you needed my help but just wanted to say you are saying it right. anyway keep going girl - luv ya
hello lena! have you tried different kinds of mediums to know yoyur personal preference to work with?how and when in your art journey did you know that oil painting is the one you like the most? love you! xo
Not sure if you'll see this, but I'm wondering if you are willing to have to separate cameras or even three, one for your computer or the image that you're emulating, one for your palette, and one for your canvas. I think holding the camera while you're going through the motions could be a bit distracting and it would be cleaner in presentation. This is a really cool thing that you do to help other artists so thank you.
Nice video! I love the real time... and seeing how you mix your colors!!!!.................................... P.S. I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't know how to say pthalo! lol! What is up with that p in the beginning anyway!?!
N. Ross Art I imagine that in the past, the 'ph' in 'phthalo" was actually pronounced, but due to language adjustments & changes people ditched that pronunciation but kept the spelling since pronouncing the p & the TH is annoying & unnecessary. The same goes for words like 'knight' & 'knife', they used to be said with a K but people stopped doing that because it was easier to drop the hard K sound. Hope this helps! :)
Riley Elizabeth whenever i use pencil i use a 4h really lightly then take a kneaded eraser over it to make the lines almost disappear just so i can barely see them. not sure if this makes sense but i hope this helps
this is so insanely inspiring... can't wait to try it out myself!! just wondering: do you let your painting dry between layers, or did you paint all of it while it was wet? and how long did it take to dry in the end?
Hi, I have been following you for a few weeks and I just love your paintings! I have been asked to paint a portrait and I would like to use the grid. What program are you using? Where can I find this grid? Thanks for your time and keep painting!

You make me want to paint with oil on bigger canvases, too! You are such an inspiration!
this was really fun to watch while painting!
Beautiful work! Enjoyed viewing this video. I have been mostly using watercolor, charcoal and a bit of pastel. I just might give oils a try. Thanks!

i cannot be the only person worrying she'll drop paint on the screen
Have you ever made a video on how your draw the grids on your canvas? I'd love to see that process. I'm just starting to use grids.
Painting a basic grid on the canvas with a fine brush, plastic ruler, and thinned paint is a good way to go
How do you determine the measurement of the grid to the photo?
I am also a beginner...
meh .. skip all that shit ... just get a mini LED projector and do your drawing with that. They've got great ones now that are really inexpensive.
Wow amazing 💖😍 your painting is better then the actual reference picture very nice keep it up 👏
i love the sound the brush makes
Love you lena ..u put so much of hard work in every painting i never realised that in time lapse vid ..pls make more such vid ..wud really appreciate..tysm✨🤗

Amazing work Lena. I like the way you pronounced the colours. As one Ukrainian to another, it all sounds great in the end. hahaha
Love ❤️ your paintings

Makes me feel happy to see you used grids 😂 makes me feel much much less of a cheat lol xxx
Loved it! Was there any specific reason why you chose not to do an underpainting for this piece?

you're soo amazing
YAY! Hi Lena!
hi Roxanne! :D
Great demo!!!
Thanks for sharing your process ♥ It really is an interesting and inspiring watch. Your art is frickin amazing
hello, can you please tell me which software you are using for deviding the picture into grid ?
great artwork Lena... what colours is that that you have covered the canvas before you start?
What type of pencil do you use to draw your grid? Whenever I use pencil it always smudges and greys the paint
maybe you shouldn't choose a pencil which is too soft..maybe h or f? :)
Riley Elizabeth whenever i use pencil i use a 4h really lightly then take a kneaded eraser over it to make the lines almost disappear just so i can barely see them. not sure if this makes sense but i hope this helps
Riley Elizabeth you could use a separate piece of paper to put underneath your drawing hand to prevent the paper from smudging
You can also use a plastic ruler and fine paint brush loaded with thinned paint to paint a grid in a colour that won't effect the next layer :)
this is so insanely inspiring... can't wait to try it out myself!! just wondering: do you let your painting dry between layers, or did you paint all of it while it was wet? and how long did it take to dry in the end?
Thank you so much for uploading this. I'm totally going to subscribe to you on patreon.
My biggest issue is that I don't really understand the color mixing, what colors to mix in order to get the color I need.
I agree. I feel like if I'm not filming my painting, it turns out way better and I'm more in the mood :)
Wow, Awesome Haven ❤️ Great video ❤️ Big like ❤️ Stay connected!
Love this kind of video's ! thank you so much !!!!

tysm for these videos! they are so helpful! 💚
glad I could help somehow! thanks for watching ♥
lol you're one of the best artists in the world and you're just now finding out its pthalo and not pathalo.
Yes, thank you very much!
Do you write down your colors as you go? Or do you just remember everything you mixed in?
hi lena! how do you make the grid over the photo? thanks!
probably in photoshop grid or just a grid template as a png image put up on the original pic
Hi, I have been following you for a few weeks and I just love your paintings! I have been asked to paint a portrait and I would like to use the grid. What program are you using? Where can I find this grid? Thanks for your time and keep painting!
