You are definitely building up a little collection of lions here peter especially having thunderbolt on the way but if your ever after a 4th one why not get the heljan prototype diesel that was named Lion as well as that is the only Lion I currently have, back to this model though excellent review on it here, while I don’t have much interest in collecting the really old locomotives I would definitely be up for getting a model for lion myself, I enjoyed the comparison you dod between the hornby one and in my view there are positives and negatives for each, also just a final note those rocket coaches looked excellent, I know you have shown the open truck ones with the people in before but not sure if you have ever shown the coaches with the luggage on the top, those looked excellent being hauled round the layout.
Cheers David, I have shown the first class yellow coaches before. The luggage I added myself. As for the prototype Diesel named Lion, its now discontinued doesn't come round often and when it does I've seen it go for silly money
Might I ask, are the people in the 3rd class coach are they standing up one or sitting?

Does this 1980's model version have a small dent that it got due to it being used in the filming The Titfield Thunderbolt as stated on imdb? 😁
Lion wasn't in this condition in Tutfield. Though it still has the damage it sustained during the film. However the damage isn't replicated on the model

Bizarre
I think Its an interesting looking locomotive with an interesting and fascinating history. Though it has been suggested in recent years that this loco might not actually be lion as if it wete Lion it wouldn't look like as we see it today
