- Hoorah!
Our fantastic factory has sent us a working, decorated sample of the entire 'Titfield Thunderbolt' train pack. We couldn't resist the opportunity to re-enact some scenes from the film!

THE TITFIELD THUNDERBOLT™ is a trade mark of Studiocanal Films Ltd. and is used under license from Studiocanal Films Ltd.
As a major Titfield Thunderbolt lover, I can not express my fondness for this model. The attention to detail is astounding and each little reference made me smile like a little boy. Thank you so much.
Love that you incorporated figurines of Sam, the Squire and the Bishop in their respective positions on the train. Very nice attention to detail, that is.
The best lion model ever! The Titfield Thunderbolt!🖤❤️💚💛🤎
How very delightful!
Brilliant! Well done, Rapido, and I hope the model sells as well as it deserves!
Compared to Hornby’s this will be amazing! Plus when I get mine, I’ll be able to use my current rolling stock with it!
What a lovely thing !! Cant wait to see them whem they arrive, although the red seems to pop a little to much to me. Otherwise a great model !
Looking good Titfield Thunderbolt and Lion awaiting eagerly for there arrival.
A very evocative video with a great mixing of the original film and the new model.
Thanks.
I love this and can't wait for mine to arrive :)
You should also make some of the late 19th century NER tender locos such as McDonal, Fletcher etc.
Victorian is the future!
You guys should do the 14xx from the movie as well
Very nice vid,thanks.
Thank you too!
Its Looking Good - could be model of the year
Absolutely fabulous you have mixed perfectly 👏👏👏👍
Love it . Can’t wait for my one to arrive
Well done
Brilliant
Got one on order and cant wait. Are these final decorated samples as the red on the smokebox looks a little too thick compared to the movie clips.
Well done Rapido Trains UK keep up the good work. Did amazing job on the train pack look like the real things. Can't wait to get me model. Did a much better job on it compare to Hornby Model Railways ones. Can't wait to see the HIGHLAND RAILWAY ‘JONES GOODS’ in the yellow. But again did a amazing job keep up the work. Have a great weekend.
Can't post the set yet....squires not hear😮
Any updates on the Jones Goods?
Please tell me the model comes with prototypical damage on the back of the tender
Excited for this set, but does it look too matt to anyone else? The engine in the film has a satin sheen to it but the model doesn't seem to reflect the light at all, especially on the red parts. Personally hoping that will be changed
Any chance of a general overview of the delightful layout depicted? It would make an ideal setting for various other small locomotives and coaches - light railway style! I'm thinking of your Y7, and Upwell tramcars...
We might be able to at some point, at the moment it's in storage as we need the warehouse space for the new arrivals!
OK - thanks! Just a rhought...@@RapidoTrainsUK
The red looks a bit bright on the front an wheels hopefully it’s a bit duller on the production models as it’s giving it a toy look.
Will you be making a GWR 1401 to go with the Titfield Thunderbolt range?
That would be fantastic I hope they do that! Would complete the set
They've already said ages ago they won't be doing a 14xx
@@18EStudios that's such a shame
They said that with other projects going on it isn't on the cards for the near future, but suggested it could happen at some point. So we can always hope!
what decoder did y'all bolt into this and Lion's sound models?
This uses a Next18 decoder from ESU.
Can't go yet.......
Squire's not here!
Are you selling the People?
They come in one of the train packs I think.
Why have you chosen to delay the delivery of the train packs for "decoder supply problems", yet you can supply those same decoders wit the same sound files, (minus the Titfield exclusive gimmick ones) in the models of 0-4-2 Lion first? This is an absolute kick in the teeth when I've had the deluxe pack on pre-order for over a year and if it wasn't for the loss of my deposit, I'd be cancelling my pre-order for this, along with the W&U/titfield coaches, (of which I ordered 2,) my GER liveried J70 pack, the 1907 wagons..... C'mon Rapido, sort it out
Hi.
Simply it came down to the number of decoders. The sales for ‘lion’ decoders is FAR smaller than Titfield decoders.
ESU had a stock that would cover Lion but would not be enough for Titfield.
We had two choices - either delay everything which upsets every customer and causes issues down the line for us, or deliver Lion using the decoders ESU could supply. Whilst we might have ‘chosen’ to delay them - it was the least bad option. We could not have got them any quicker. The next batch of decoders were already in production from ESU so it would have taken the same time to wait for 500 or 5000 more decoders
To top that off a number of retailers have expressed concerns about Lion and Titfield arriving at the same time and causing them cashflow issues. As a result when the above occurred we also decided to airfreight the Lion models (as there are substantially fewer pallets due to size and numbers). This has helped the retailers whim without we would all be a bit stuck.
Keeping a regular flow of incoming products is also useful to allow us to reinvest into new models - some of which I would have liked to announce by now.
Frankly, I’d have loved Titfield to be first but sometimes we have to make decisions based on what’s going on around us.
It’s not ideal and we apologise. We couldn’t foresee the microprocessor shortage and are having to make do with the best situations we can. Apologies again.
@@RapidoTrainsUK I have no sympathy for model shops, I went around every shop within a 30mile radius when this pack was announced and not one of them will give me a firm commitment on whether they would be getting either this or other Rapido models on stock for that matter. I want to support local shops and literally waved cash at them for a pre-order, but they wouldn't commit so I'm not concerned with any issues they may have.
I still feel that the duty here was to the people who put down actual physical cash in the form of pre-orders, not possible purchases off the shelf. You guys heavily promoted to "Pre-order to avoid disappointment due to limited numbers etc" and I'd say I certainly haven't avoided disappointment. I was excited by the news of the Class 04 tramway loco, but thos experience has taught me to not pay a penny in advance, I'm better off waiting and purchasing them off the shelf when they release, not least because of the discount off MSRP that typically goes hand in hand with not pre-ordering

All our retailers know they get what they order. That’s the point of our business model. I shall remind them. Sadly you seem to have found some that don’t understand this.
We (Rapido) only sell at RRP as undercutting retailers would be bad for business. It is also against the law to price fix and tell people what they can and can’t sell at.
@@RapidoTrainsUK I live in Lincoln, so from that I am sure you can work out which retailers do not think they have a working relationship with yourselves, or at least didn't a year ago when the pack was announced.
As for pricing, I fully understand not undercutting retailers or price fixing, it made me angry when that big red manufacturer did it a few years back, but if pre-ordering doesn't mean I'll get priority on delivery, then there's little incentive to "invest" and give security to a manufacturer when it's likely cheaper and quicker to just walk into a shop ( or order online in this case) when it's released.
Ultimately, the decision has been made and nothing will change the situation, but hopefully there will be a learning process, after all if the public decide not to but your products, keeping retailers happy will make no difference
Ok I’m just going to say it.
Whatever happened to 1401 after it was intentionally derailed by anti-rail people?
Love the Film, Seen the Reviews, Loco paint Looks a bit Plastiky finish wise, Sound bites are a bit of a gimmick, you wont be long getting bored of playing thoose.. Figures look a bit poor. by the time you get the other bits make is very expensive overall for an occasional runner. Hope it is a success for Rapido though.
uhhh... ok thanks
