I love how even Tynan is confused when he tries to explain how the trading menu works
@Moonlight I found a mod for UI customization, it's also very compatible with all other mods since it merely replaces sprites BUT it includes like 8 themes and makes switching between them really easy (also allows editing main menu's music and layout)
For the trading there's like 3 mods that improve the screen
As always, the modders put the brunt of the work, lol
@@rompevuevitos222 The base game is pretty good, though. And it's Tynan's merit to have made it. However, the modders make it truly GREAT.
Honestly the lore of rimworld is rather interesting to me, especially since it kinda could very easily be our own future.
The lore is a mishmash of popular sci-fi tropes but it works.
No
@@necroowl3953 By the way we're going, it seems like Rimworld's future is inevitable
Just imagine, criminals flee the planet and settle in a remote lawless land, simply by the amount of humans in the future there would be more arriving there since livable planets are more limited
Criminals living in a lawless land x 2 = big oof
It's already happening in australia 😔👆
@@rompevuevitos222 All of that is assuming that general relativity is flawed and it is actually possible to travel faster then light, if not then criminals fleeing could easily be stopped as it would takes years of preparation to travel decades into the unknown just to reach the nearest solar system a few light years away, and by the time technology has reached a point where you can travel interstellar distances laser or rail weaponry would easily be able to destroy any fleeing interstellar-sized craft

I swear Lord Tynan, you created the trade window.
Been along for the ride since alpha 16, and what a ride it has been. Originally pirated it, but I’ve since bought the game and both DLCs (of course, I don’t know anyone who owns rimworld and doesn’t own both DLCs)
I exist but it's because I can't afford royalty
I'm at 2800 hours played and i only have Rimworld and Royalty :P
(Not sure about the new expansion, i hate all religion so i'm not sure if this DLC is for me)
@@cyrilthefish cannibal cult?
Same story now have 2000+ on steam
@@cyrilthefish Honestly, I’ve never really played nor seen anyone play a properly “religious” ideology. Ideologies strengths lie in allowing colonies to somewhat specialize. You want a mountain fortress? Run undergrounder with darksight. Drugged out hippies? High life with some of the nature-centered memes. A capitalistic cannibal corporation? Archo-obsessed slavers? The combinations, while not necessarily endless, are enough to play a new style for a long time, especially when you consider the vanilla expanded memes, along with countless other ideology expansions packaged with many mods. While you can certainly role-play these things without ideology, certain playstyles were soft-gated, such as cannibals. Ideology adds a lot to the freedom of the game. The true benefit of ideology to me is the framework it added for mods to take advantage of. I personally find ideology to be a better purchase than royalty.
1:37 Planks do exist in the game now, not as an item but as an image to represent components mainly on the left hand side list.
As a mountain base enjoyer I spend about 70% of my internal base engineering effort in making infestations manageable. Honestly I love and hate them. Without them I wouldn’t have lost a good colony. But they are fun to plan around
@Sabizos I know right. I hate them because they always throw the colony into complete chaos but then again that’s part of the fun, so I kinda like them.
I just wish they dropped better loot
Absolutely No Roof mod. You can remove mountain roof. Add in Raise The Roof for buildable steel roofs which are drop-pod proof. Add in ED Shields to make shield generators which can block artillery shells and enemy gunfire.
Better Infestations mod for the Bug War enthusiasts, AND they can spawn out in the open as well.
You're welcome.
Luckily they start dying at 80 degree Celsius.
@@molybdaen11 you mean I can oven the pods?
@@DaShoopdahoop Frying the insects is the safest way to get rid of them.
One method would be to build your rooms in a way which allows you to seperate them with a wall of nessesary.
Like building 5 or 10 rooms for your colonist, then a narrow passage and place some stones close by.
Then you place some wooden furniture in the rooms and a burning trap in every room.
Bonus points if the hallway can burn too.
If a insect appears, you pull everyone out, seal the area with at least a 3 block wall and wait.
If the insects are already there, you can build a room rear by with wooden chairs and bonfires, seperate by a door from the insects and with strong walls (3 at least).
Then you use molotov cocktails of flamethrower to set the room on fire and open the door.
If you time it good, you insects should be done in about 3h, ready for serving.
And jes, you have to replace the floor but hey and wood are cheap, colonist life's are not.
Along for the ride since the kickstarter, played the earliest versions and have close to 3000h in this game. At least five things this video showed I’ve never even known about! Wow!
Been in since 1.0 dropped. 3700 hours and counting. I'm planning a solo naked brutality start, where my guy downloads himself into an android body, builds an android army, uploads every human he captures into SkyCloud computer cores, builds an army and conquers the entire world.
Big mods used: Androids, Android Tiers, Mechanoid Forge, Mechanite Forge, SRTS Expanded, Kill For Me, Vanilla Genetics Expanded, Rimatomics, Misc Robots, Jurrets, Make Anthing Craftable, Make Anything Buildable, Vanilla Factions Expanded (every single one except Ancients), all the weapon, bionics, and super science mods I can cram in.
Only in this game can you do insane stuff like this. I love it.
Rimworld Lore, i guess
But you didn't have to cut me up (yeah, yeah)
@@aquaa2272 have your friends collect my eyeballs and then my heart, yeah
I guess that I sell for too much. didn't care about my well-being and now, i move on to the next spawnpoint.
The dad snoring caught me off guard laughin like a goblin
Goblin Slayer be like: *There is more work to be done.*
Ah that was nostalgic. I've been there since the very start. You didn't mention it but the animal taming system was actually a pretty huge deal too.
He did.
rimworld really has a cool theme of humanity is everywhere, with the rimworlds being the ones where, although in industrial tech standards, there isn't much a strong society but rather you can expect things like bandit groups, hostile tribes, ragtag groups of a friendly civilisation and glitterworld colonisers and refugees
I have over 300 hours in this game and there were so many features mentioned here that I didn't even realize (eg queueing up multiple jobs w/ shift)
I realized the queuing after having 2000 hours on steam
Shift clicking up multiple jobs is a lifesaver. Yes, Mr Robot, eat that survival meal, but afterwards, come equip this shield belt and plasteel Falling Sun (Kenshi Armory mod). You have good melee skill and the Shadow class (Rimworld of Magic), welcome to the Melee Corps.
Without queuing up multiple jobs, I'd have to babysit that guy while he scarfs down that MRE, while my crafters are churning out masterwork insect chitin shirts and my dumbass crafters are hauling them away instead of leaving them on the floor, for the rest of the guys to equip.
Its crazy to think how far this game has come. I can wait to see what comes out next.
Oh man, now I feel old. I've been playing since Alpa2, with almost 2000 hours of gameplay now - and still every new round is a new experience, thanks to the active modding scene of course. Those were great times with the OG streamers like Warren333 and Eviltrick. I even saw my name on an official update photo once, because Tynan had just taken a picture from Eviltrick's stream.
So many amazing references!
This is pure gold 👍
I only gave 1,145 hours of my life to this game and I enjoyed every second of it.
I love this format of editing, great video my guy
I thought I never see this kind of video again. I love that you took such amazing inspiration.
you forgot to add the part where it got banned in australia
It now isn't, got given the R18+ after being resubmitted for classification.
Activated the notification so I can watch right when it comes out
Amen brother
Me too
Tynan "Buy my book" Sylvester
wow this video is underrated, idk about the channel tho since this is the only video i watched until now, but your humor is amazing and the editing is great, i would think this video has over 2 million views if i didn't see the view count
Bought this in 2014 in Alpha 1 and immediately fell in love with it and have played ever since. Remember the old fear system that was there for a very short period, where you could do things that increased your colonists fear instead of their happiness to keep them sane, like having corpses in cages and such. Didn't work that well and could be the reason they scrapped it.
They brought it back as slave suppression in 1.3.

30mm Auto Minigun Cannon.
Ahh I love Rimatomics. That mod is just a meme.
Really cool stuff. It's a must-have in almost all of my mod lists.
What can i say, i never thought i needed this
oh alpha 12... thats when my journey began... I can still remember my mind being blown when I downloaded rimroads... it wasnt until like late beta that roads got permanently added but man those were good times... I look at rimworld now and its so funny to think back to before rimefeller and rimatomics and stuff. great video : )
amazing, continue.
The evolution of Rimworld is so fascinating to me, I managed to track down a pre-alpha from the Kickstarter era, Alpha 3, and Alpha 6, which was fun to play around with. I’ve been following Rimworld since the pre-alpha but I was too poor to be able to finally buy a copy until alpha 14, and I’ve been addicted ever since. Some of the most fascinating changes are features that got removed, like converting logs into planks, that had a unique sawmill sprite and a unique plank sprite only seen for a really brief period, even later versions of Alpha 4 (such as the one Sips played) doesn’t even have that feature, so it might not have even made it into a public release. It probably made the old (also removed) Log Wall a lot more useful for quick starts as it didn’t need to be cut up into planks. Tynan also removed the fertiliser pump, which would spread soil and fertilise existing soil, which I’ve always thought was a shame, along with the entire fear mechanic and the gibbet cages.
You also used to be able to lock doors and trap people inside, but now you can just forbid them and people will walk through anyway. Many things were renamed too, but that’s not really removed features.
Locks mod can bring back locking doors. Fertiliser pump can be mimicked either by Tilled Soil mod, or by fertiliser mechanics from Dubs Bad Hygiene, VGP Vegetable Garden or one of the Vanilla Expanded mods. Gibbet cages are back in 1.3, used as part of the slavery system, for keeping slaves afraid and obedient.
I'm glad you added the 'inspired by bill wurtz' part.
Got some Mad Martincitopants vibes from this video, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Old Rimworld looks so strange, it's fascinating to see how far this game has come.
truly an incredible video
As a 07-scaper it is pretty nice to hear the song of my people 0:21
Getting some serious frog vibes from this video. Keep it up!
Man your selection of music is on point, I’m only fifty seconds in.
I came in around alpha 5 and I remember getting the emails with the new versions when they came out. I used to have every alpha version I obtained saved on my computer haha.
I also think alpha 7 or 8 added the ability to put out fires. Which is what sold me on the game
You really don't understand the intricacies of bill wursts random sound effects, they kinda seem just thrown in there for no reason in this.
the absolute whiplash i had with the unexpected sudden GBF groz island music when i swore my game was muted in the background on FA only to find out it came from this video
Awesome
I just wanna say what ttrying to hace the same editing style as Bill wurtz Is imposible if you dont make your own music, it just feels anying in this video
Wow I watch this now and think to myself: "Wow, I've been playing this one hell of a game for more than 3 years now..."
Like dang....
I watched this kholed. What a trip
Just stumbled upon you. This video editing is some ungodly form of sensory overload, but in extremely slowed timeflow
beautiful
yoooo lessss gooo
Rimworld and Kenshi are probably the two games I consider the best money I ever spent on video games.
I got onboard roughly around alpha 5 / 6.
I used to love the map selection screen. you can very easily decide where to live by shifting through the temperature and biome screens.
I miss that...
from Alpha 4 player here, wow, good game. Would recommend
Rimworld 1.1 did have some additions to the base game, like Recon Armor which you mistakenly said that was added in 1.2
But it's overall a great video, I enjoyed it
1.1 coincided with Royalty, right?
nice!
I remember thinking the addition of cooking was stupid and continued to use nutrient paste for a while
Oh god the memories of waffle defenses and making your own crematorium with a Molotov and a hole in a mountain
Still somewhat efficient as a crematorium
@@kadecase7470 And much cheaper.
I remember the molotov method, I moved on to dumping the bodies in a river and now I have a mod that lets me dissect bodies for medical training.
@@Sinyao "medical training"
I remember when I started playing back in alpha 11, I'm still salty about infestations being added lol
Infestations are neat, but are a pain when they emerge in your base.
All you have to do is add Absolutely No Roof mod, to remove mountain roof. Raise the Roof for buildable steel roofs, which are drop pod proof. ED Shields for shield generators which can absorb artillery and gun fire.
Improved Infestations for the Bug War enthusiasts, since they can spawn anywhere, and can be set to spawn away from the player.
Problem solved, through the magic of... MODDING!
@@mirceazaharia2094 well yeah but that defeats the point. Im kind of a purist and feel that mods that remove the challenge and threats, such as ones that add op turrets that kill everything through walls only your colonists can shoot through is super cheesy, might as well just play on base builder difficulty or in dev mode at that point.
30 minutes until premier, gonna eat breakfast to this video, I guess
Very dope video my man, just found your videos and appreciate the f*ck out of them
Nice.
What I've been playing for 10 years 😮
Getting real Bill Wurtz vibes from this, love it!
Holy crap I remember when rimworld was so bare that there were no cooking tables, just nutrient dispensers.
Me who only uses paste dispensers... cool
Aaahh yes. I started from a9 or a8 and can't stop since then.
Wow I knew I been playing rimworld for a while but apparently I picked it up in alpha 2 and didnt notice
I was not ready for long-haired Tynan
Comencé con el juego hace 9 años, omg
That osrs music dude.. nostalgia
i started playing alpha 3. long way and still playing.
Imagine making video about "the entire history of VE, i guess", that should be 10 times longer than this Rimworld history...
I've been through it all huh
Didn't even remember a lot of the earlier experience.
4 years ago sseth review Rimwold.
So 2018 is year for me.
Rimworld + correct mods is basicially 3x size of base game (even with dlcs) :D
Wow, what a video. I started playing rimworld right when it had it's full release and it's easily one of my favorite games of all time. This was interesting seeing the evolution of it all and where it ended up. Still much to explore though!
It's been a long time since I first played Alpha 14.
Holy shit I have been playing this game for so long
Been playing since Alpha 8, still here for biotech, and will keep playing for the forseeable future
the devs are just as sadistic when playing as us lol no mercy
Finally I got a screentime
Started playing since alpha 11
I love "The history of XYZ, I guess" videos :D
I don't remember which alpha was my first one but I do remember the only material to build things was metal, there was something similar to the corpe cages re-introduced recently and colonists went mad really fast when they were in darkness
Yeah gibbit cages were used to keep your own colonists in line with terror instead of happiness. There were no actual slaves at the time.
@@Nognamogo Right, although I think I remember the mechanic didn't work well. Do you remember which alpha version this was?
@@GiubileiFernando Nah I don't remember the version. I never used the cages when they existed ha.
Known the game at Alpha 8, followed it till I was able to purchase it at 1.3, on the later end of 2021.
Yo espero un video de 5 horas aunque tambien aceptaria uno de 50 segundos
Was that Stronghold music at 1:25? Liking just for that.
Yes It was
10 years dam im old, the war crimes THE WAR CRIMESSS
Alpha 8 was my first acquaintance
Is it organ harvestin time? It is organ harvesting time!
Oh, man I 100% forgot I had been playing this game sine alpha. Wonder if I still have an installer somewhere.
Dollar store bill wurtz
I remember alpha 11 days with blitzkreigzler
"Zappers"
Dude i pirate it when i started highschool and it was idk beta? Wait no it was alpha 2 and it was god damn amazing since i even downloaded it in school to ply it at school xD
good video kinda fast
i love the alpha map, wish there was a mod for it :(
Oh man as someone who played since A5 its a real treat to see how far this game had come even if it was pretty shit few last years.
Tynan looked like he invested in crypto back in 2012.
Good
Started back in A 14 no joke modding is what kept this game alive and made it so popular just so many fun mods niw
Beauty is always a good idea in RPGs, are you telling me a character who is a rich kid is going to love living worse than a medieval peasant?
i think i started playing in Alpha 4
Epic, i guess
Bought in alpha 3. It was alot cheaper back then too haha
*In the beginning, there was only Dwarf Fortress*
You used the soundtrack from Mechanicus for your video.
The Omnissiah approves of this use of Electro-Hymnal
Hmm... I played RW since alpha 3, but I dont remember cooking nor mods
1.3 of course was the death of the game with the addition of breach axes and termites
