FTL travel is likely to be possible after the invention of whatever power source comes after Fusion. I doubt NONE of the theories are correct (Wormhole, Alcubierre, Zero point, ect). The main arguments I see against them are from people who haven't looked into the concept and say "muh conservation of energy and relativity" when each one addresses it, though usually with some questionable physics nonetheless

It honestly amazes me how lore rich rimworld is for a game. Like this would make an amazing TV show for any of the worlds you are shown. They give alot of jumping off points in their cannon for you to think and speculate about how things are. You can really get lost thinking about the lives of various peoples. I think you did a great job summarizing all of this!

@@thegeofork Was fun for about 2-3 seasons, like many shows in sci fi, but started to heavily leave Sci-Fi genre and enter the Sci-Fantasy genre.

Rimworld’s lore is only a background and setting for many stories to occur. It is up to us to make the lore
The vague and undiscovered lore is what makes it so good, wtf are you smoking.
The mystery surrounding whatever lurks in the galaxies gives so much freedom for stories and for mods.
@@unavela hell yeah, while the lore is quite cool its just an addition, leaving the players with only their imagination as lore is great, rimworld is an storytelling game it should leave the players to pick their own lore.
Want a planet ravaged by a tremendous war that happened in the past? do it.
Want a very populated world with industrial tech civillizations? yup.
Want an Dense Hostile jungle world where the enviromment forced the nations to adapt? also yes.
It shouldn't have a lore since you are playing on an isolated world, yes you can play in the same seed, but you can edit maybe after the events of the previous playtrough.
the lore of Rimworld is your playtrough, Tynan can write bits of lore here and there but i don't think he will make the game so linked to the lore.

Wow. I remember watching and enjoying this video years ago and now I randomly found your wfrp videos and been following along. You make some great content. When I watched this years ago I assumed this was made by an established channel with a large group of ppl collaborating on it. You do good work my friend. Especially handling the chaos in your wfrp party lol. I'm starting Enemy in Shadows next week with my group and hope to have 1/2 the drama you guys get into.

I always thinked that rimworld IS the preset of starsector because the lore of both match very Well because in the lore of starsector the State of humanity Pre-Domain era was very similar to rimworld until earth discovered FTL and invented the Gates for instant interestellar travel...

It is real, we're in the Mid World era right now. If we can get our act together, maybe, just maybe, we'll become a Glitter World in the future. But, if the NWO ruins everything, as they are trying to, we'll become an Urb World.

We are just over twenty years into the 21st century. I would describe "flight but not cheap interplanetary travel" as 20th century technology.
It'd be like someone in 1920 saying "flight but no space travel, like in the 20th century" hindsight may seriously date a statement like that.

Writing lore is easier than coding a game expansion, you know

But why Ate without a table a thing-
Because maintaining morale in this game is a game of inches. All the little annoyances build up over time and can cause a character (or several) to have an emotional breakdown, disobey orders, fight your other people, break stuff, or try to abandon your colony. Very dangerous.
That's why you mitigate this by gradually introducing small comforts (their own bedrooms, tables to eat at, chairs to sit on, chess tables, horseshoe pins etc) to ease their suffering.
And you give them greater, more expensive comforts (decent bedrooms, beautiful things in every room, a nice rec room / dining room combo, comfy armchairs in front of their work benches, TV, mild recreational consumables like smokeleaf, chocolate, beer, psychite tea) to mitigate morale issues later on.
Almost any self-consistent mod can be justified as lore accurate by saying that X just descended from the sky. Androids, xenosapiens, weapons, drugs, clothes, animals and factions.
yeah the rimworld universe is intentionally left open wide to insert almost whatever canon we want without it being too out of place
@@jart1984 There might even be factions out there that have proper warp engines instead of this cryptosleep crap (this is the only part of the lore which I never liked - Sleeper ships only, yuck). You never know, and one could only hope.
@@mirceazaharia2094 eh idk i liked the whole idea of JT engines and the commitment it takes to travel out of your home planet. really makes it like you're a sailor going on a trip across the wide sea with the promises of riches and doom. and also that it's just more realistic than taking a shortcut through the hell dimension or something i guess.

I do like the lore fits the mods like elves and kitsunes as they just humans who been genetic mutated. I think it makes you less like muh base game and more like more loore. Its fun to add hundreds of races who are just used to be human people just mutations and genetically changed.
