    Same issue here. Frunk closed perfectly WITHOUT the plastic tub shell. Once all plastic was installed I had the gap. BUT the adjustment that worked for me was opposite of your installers instructions. It needed to be tighter, not looser as he stated. It was not too tight, but too loose. Once I went tighter, I did not need his "Step 2 adjustment". Your video shows it at the fullest "LOOSE" adjustment. My directions also state, "If the electronic suction does not suck the lock well at this time push the front cover to make it close by hand". I don't know if that somehow recalibrates or it was a combination of the adjustment and helping it close. That is what worked for me. Hope this helps future installs.

    I got my kit yesterday and installed everything in an hour thanks to your video! Super easy to install once you have a clear picture of where everything goes. It really helps that each connector is unique and color coded so you really can’t go wrong. I didn’t encounter the problem of the hood not closing completely, so I’m guessing they fixed that. Thanks for this tutorial!

    This was very helpful! Just installed yesterday. Couple of notes: 1) All the wires were excessively long, so I actually cut the actuator strut wires & made them shorter. 2) The frunk button does not need to be removed from the cover. 3) I connected the ground wire direct to negative terminal of battery

    Thanks man. Watched this video today and used it for my install step by step. Very very well done. Really helped. I will say I had minor issues at the very end because initially it wouldn’t work right due to the little height and lock calibration you’re supposed to do at first which wasn’t in your video. Only thing that would make this video 10/10 instead of 9.5/10 is inclusion of that part. Thanks so much for doing this. Now for this trunk god help me 🤦🏾‍♂️

    Great video and thank you for this install. One of the things I really liked is how you took note of what each plug was labeled before he installed it. Also, I really liked that you panned out then zoomed in each area he was working on. Too many times, I'll watch these videos or see pictures of an install, and I have no idea where this part/area is because they're zoomed in too much, with no point of reference. By panning out then zooming in, you show us exactly where the area is.
    I just got my frunk and trunk kits from Hansshow, and I'll be going off your video to help me in my install.
    Thanks and great job !!

    This was such a great resource, the instructions from the manufacturer leave a LOT to be desired, I just put the video on my phone and watched a step, performed a step. Took not much longer than the video itself. I was concerned by the noise the opener made after the Frunk closed, but there it is on your video too, so it must be fine. Thanks for the help.

      @@FrugalTeslaGuy I presume they just modified their own generic opener/closer kit and fabricated the necessary Tesla latching plate but rest of the stuff is probably designed to work on any hood/trunk etc and that's why they have so much extra wiring.
      I wish you had pointed out any disadvantage if there are.

  • @jmpage2
    @jmpage2 4 роки тому +4

    This video is great for gauging the complexity of the installation. I'm pretty confident I could do this installation but I'm a bit put off by two items. Item 1 is the 12v battery tap. This makes me nervous because Tesla vehicles are known for having issues with charging of the 12V battery when other devices like radar detectors, dashcams, etc., are tapped from the battery. Second issue is with the ridiculous length of the cables used for the installation which in many cases appear to be 2 or 3 meters longer than necessary! I don't understand why they can't update this kit (especially what it costs) and produce one with cables that are of a more appropriate length for this application.
    Will wait for now, perhaps see if there are more revisions of this kit by spring. Your video doesn't mention it but apparently there is already a revision to the Frunk kit that includes "better quieter motors" and some other minor changes.

    • @stephan9487
      @stephan9487 4 роки тому +2

      voip-ninja hey just wanted to let you know this kit has been updated. Mine not only didn’t have the crazy long wires like the ones in this video, but also the “light” wire which they say we don’t need in the video, is no longer even there.

    By far, the best power Frunk instructional video out there! Well done & thank you!! Your video just made my upcoming install a lot easier! No offense to the other well known UA-camrs, but all their instructional videos left out key parts of this install IMO.
    Will you please make a similar video showing the power trunk with foot sensor? The one by Teslatunity is excellent and very detailed. Unfortunately, he has the TeslaOffer product and no foot sensor.

      @FrugalTeslaGuy  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks and I'm glad this video helps. I feel the same way you do. It just seemed like all of the other videos left out key steps of the install. • @petertran4362
      @petertran4362 4 роки тому +2

      @@FrugalTeslaGuy Yes, would be great if you can do one for the power trunk with foot sensor. That would be totally unique because no one else has done it... at least with enough detail or in a manner that makes sense, with the lone exception being Teslatunity, but again his is with a different brand & a different wiring set- up than the Hansshow. You have 2 weeks to make/ post the new video, because that is about when my kits will arrive from Hansshow... 😉 just kidding of course. Tip: I stuck the beeper to the top of the controller box where it would be accessible in the opening for the removable panel. Once I had all the Settings where I wanted them, I unplugged it. It’s only needed for doing the setup anyway. I did the same with the powered trunk too.

    darmantio already mentioned this, but you did not respond so I am repeating it. The video is excellent EXCEPT that at about 17:30 and 25:30, "right" and "left" are reversed ("right fender" at 17:30 instead of "left fender," and "left strut" instead of "right strut" at 25:30). No biggie but out of character for an otherwise flawless video.
