I am grateful to see you posting again. And ever so grateful that despite your devastating losses, you and your wife continue on this journey into Catholicism. Praying for the 3 of you to be able to get into your home soon! GOD bless you!
God be praised! I champion your search for truth in our faith, especially through the bible, Catholic tradition, and in the glorious Catholic Magisterium! May you and your family be blessed. I'll keep you in my prayers From, Oswego, NY
I remember your 1st home altar. Yes, you departed from the norm but I think it is important for all of us to remember that we still have a tremendous amount to learn about the Faith and the living thereof. I also think it is important to recall that a personal shrine is NOT an altar in the same sense that an altar in our parishes is. What is on an altar in our parishes is governed by rubrics (or at least should be). That does not apply to our devotional area in our homes. My family has maintained a home altar for a great number of years. When my grown children were very small they would draw pictures for Jesus and Mary and put them on the shrine. I never refused to let them do this despite the fact that it "messed" up the shine b/c they were coming to Christ from where they were at. You were coming to Christ from where you were at. Don't apologize, you weren't doing anything with irreligious intent. As you grown you have adjusted. As to the candles it should be blessed candles that are used at your shrine. They do not have to be beeswax but it's a prefered practice since it then more closely recalles the altar at church. I think your shine is lovely. Keep up the good work.
